From the warm and genuine welcome, to the outstanding food, Babbo was just wonderful in every way. The ravioli were as delicious as I’ve eaten at Felidia, the prosciutto literally melted in your mouth, the desserts not only looked beautiful but were delicious and the perfect size.
Dinner was fantastic , incredible pasta and the pork chop is still the Babe Ruth of Pork Chops! There used to be more value on the wine list which is extensive (pretty much only Italian). So the only thing I would say is better value on the wine list.
We had the pasta tasting menu. The quality of the food does not come close to pre-pandemic standards. Will try again in 6 months...
My family and I chose Babbo as our first dinner out to celebrate our birthdays solely because Chef Nicotra was there. We are all great fans of his culinary creations and followed him to Babbo from Felidia. While we came for Chef Nicotra, and he did not disappoint, I want to say that each and every one of the staff members was lovely, extremely knowledgeable and created a wonderful evening for us. The wagyu beef carpaccio, tuna crudo/tartare, cacio e pere, beef cheeks ravioli and paccheri were standouts at the table, but we also couldn't stop talking about the bean and mint puree amuse bouche and pistachio semifreddo! Thank you to the Babbo team for making our first meal out such a wonderful treat....and thank you for the AMAZING food!
It was a great night for my son’s and me as we were celebrating his 21st!
Everything was perfect!
Good local Italian restaurant.
Babbo is a favorite restaurant. It was good to see it bustling once again. But with so many diners returning, there’s no excuse for the absence of simple “extras” that we’ve always enjoyed. We asked for cheesy breadsitcks that were always served at the bar. “Sorry, we haven’t made them since Covid.” We expected the typical amuse bouche of tiny bruschetta. Nothing appeared. Bread was served, but no olive oil until we requested it. These are not terrible disappointments, but if Babbo has returned to full capacity, it ought to return to fulfill the expectations of its loyal customers.
It was amazing! The best time, the best service - great vibes.
In times of covid, I understand that restaurants have to do the best they can making a comfortable
Outdoor space. Unfortunately, when it rains and is chilly, it becomes more difficult. Our main issue is that the two hostesses were not friendly or welcoming. In fact, we found them to have an attitude, and with a fine restaurant like Babbo
that came as a big surprise. Luckily our waiter made up for it. He was amazing. However, the hostess is the first face you see and they set the tone. Here I would suggest they put someone with a personality of the very friendly waiter up front. With a 300 bill for 4 people, I probably would not go back.
Pasta was very good ,the porterhouse for two was excellent. Wonderful Tuscan wine. The service was outstanding , we truly enjoyed our dinning experience. The chocalete desert was also excellent !
This is one of our favorite spots in the city! We love it for regular NYC dining as well as dining for our whole family on special occasions such as Mother's Day. The food and service are outstanding! We cannot wait to return.
The food is exquisite and the service friendly and impeccable. A wonderful place to dine.
food and service were excellent and atmosphere was good..
Beautiful restaurant, top of the pops,
Felt like we were on a movie set Vogue'ing up and down the stairs.
The food was superb, the wine choices were right on and in exhaustible,
our servers were on cue and generous with the truffles.
We went to celebrate our mothers, my Mother and I both worked in the family bakery with Erminia when Lidia and I were barely 14 years old in 1968
The food and service was excellent and we enjoyed the outdoor dining.
The music was so loud that you really had to yell over the table to have a conversation. Nothing against a lively atmosphere, but I little more "laid back" on the music would really improve the noise level and the atmosphere. We had several pasta dishes, all were excellent other than the Spaghettoni with lobster. This was served with a tomato sauce (even though on the menu it said "brodetto"), the tomato taste was way to dominate for the fine lobster. Tone down tomato, add a bit of broth and white wine, or just stick to "brodetto" and this dish would have been perfect as well. Babbo is remains a "must have" as restaurant in NYC.
Wonderful meal. Food and Jon the waiter. Back ASAP
Best Italian in NYC outside of Italy. Kids licked their plates clean.
Appetizers were amazing, entrees were ok but nothing spectacular. Service was exceptional!!!
What an amazing night. Of course the food was amazing. Literally the best pasta ever. The was a special tuna that knocked us out too. And the wine-what a list. Our waiter was fab too. All around 5 star night.
Everything was exceptional!
Can’t wait to go back
Chef Nicotra elevated dishes that were already amazing. He's a great addition to the Babbo Family. Love him and his well-trained team.
Delicious, creative dishes, attentive , knowledgeable service, nice ambiance. And they have some gluten-free pasta, beautifully prepared. We will be back!
They never skipped a beat! Always a consistently amazing meal.
Soooo yummy :)
What an amazing dinner. The garganelli pasta and the stinco veal shank was out of this world
Excellent all around. Warm staff. Perfect food. Great cocktails and wine.
Food is excellent. Ambiance is lively and great.
Our server Susan was outstanding. Food and drink suggestions were perfect. Not a lover of the side by side seating.
Went here for a last minute night out with my bf and we got a rez for 9:45 pm. Restaurant was packed with people, it was a very fun vibe. The music was a little loud for me, and I’m 26 so not old ha, but think if you’re with a group trying to catch up it would be better to get a table outside. It was fine because we’re together all the time but again probably not ideal if you’re trying to have a conversation with a group at a bigger table. The food and service were AMAZING - don’t sleep on the pork chop, it was the best I’ve ever had.
Terrible and honestly very upsetting. I brought my fiancé for their birthday and the music was deafening. I make no exaggeration and it gives me no joy to share that I spent $400 for a dinner at a restaurant where Motley Crue and Billy Idol were literally blasting for the entirety of our meal. Why didn't we leave and go somewhere else? Because it was 8:30pm on a Saturday night in NYC. Without a reservation, it would be pizza slices and in retrospect, I would have much preferred that romantic simplicity over Babbo. I was so disappointed and my partner was as well but too well mannered to complain when they knew the effort I had put into wanting it to be a good experience. Sad.
Father noise level in the bar area where I had been told over the phone would be quite in a “booth” was so loud you could not hear anyone speak. The service was horrible - and had to wait for our 8:00 table until 8:45. The lobster tomato pasta was like it came out of a can at a supermarket. Horrible. We had to flag down a waiter for any service - even to get the bill. The absolute worst. Never again.
Wonderful dining experience!
Restaurant called to make sure we turned up on time otherwise table would be given away. Restaurant then didn’t seat us till 30 mins after our reservation time. Told to wait at bar, but unable yo have a drink & music was so loud our ears almost bled. Sides for our Entrees came out 10 mins after we’d finished our meal. Ordered dessert & only one arrived. The food was excellent - the experience was not. Ive never been to a restaurant where the music was so loud you couldn’t hear your servers or the friend sitting beside you. Wont be going back or recommending to anyone
The service was brilliant.
Food was somewhat disappointing.
Pastas were just okay.
Seafood and duck were delicious, but venison special was an absolute failure. Two very thin medallions which were so overcooked and dry they could have been small hockey pucks. The lamb chops were charred black on the outside and raw on the inside.
I would have thought that at this level of dining the food would have been more consistent as it has been in the past.
We dined at Babbo many times and this time was different. It lost everything we loved about it.
I was told the only tequila I could order was $425 per 2 oz pour because everything else was sold out.
My pasta that I get every single time was so hard I couldn’t chew through it. I sent it back and the replacement was barely better.
We made the manager aware of all instances and they didn’t even offer us a complimentary drink or anything. It was just like “ well this is what we are post covid”. I’m sorry that’s not a great excuse. We’re all in this together and if we’re going to spend $400+ on dinner for 2 there is an expectation to be met.
We had the truffle tasting menu for my husband’s birthday. It was lovely sitting outside, if a little chilly and damp because all the heaters were overhead. The service was excellent. We liked everything The pastas were delicious! The olive oil cake was a tiny bit dry and the cheese course was overkill but otherwise a truly excellent meal.
Got violently ill after the 211.66-dollar pasta tasting with wine pairing.
