Just a really lovely place with excellent service and delicious food and drinks. Really enjoyed the cozy ambiance and we had the most patient and knowledgeable waiter who entertained all of our questions. Would highly recommend for an intimate dinner or a lively party.
Wouldn’t return. The smell of stink - maybe musk coming from the little outdoor indoor eating area they had was terrible. It was overwhelming. Maybe it was sewage/ not sure we debated at the dinner table.
Food generally disappointing. Can’t recommend it.
Babbo never fails to impress! My party of 4 was out for a 50th birthday celebration. The staff was attentive and the food and wine was extraordinary. The only drawbacks were related to the outdoor seating in the front of the restaurant. The table was wobbly, and the people walking by were an occasional distraction. But overall it was a 5-star experience. I will definitely be back!
The food was fantastic, however the ambiance and value were impacted by the arrangement for outdoor dining. Had we sat inside I would have a hard time not giving 5 stars across the board.
So great! Really accommodated us nicely with 2 toddlers too!
So elegant. It was high quality service and the food was excellent. Definitely expensive but you are paying for what you get!
The food and service was excellent, but I am not sure it was worth price. $30 for one of the cheapest glasses of red wine on their menu is a bit too much.
My fiance and I got legally married on very short notice yesterday and were able to get a high top table by the bar last-minute to celebrate. I've always enjoyed dining at Babbo, so expectations were high for my new husband (who had never been). The food was wonderful and we had a very nice server and a helpful sommelier. However, service was spotty -- I think they forgot about us from time to time :( We waited a long time in between courses and they forgot that we ordered a secondi and brought us dessert menus after finishing our pastas (and after waiting for about 15 minutes with empty plates in front of us). We had to remind them that we had another course coming! We also had to refill our own wine glasses all throughout the dinner as well. We had it in our reservation notes that we were celebrating our marriage but no mention at all. Coupled with the spotty service, it was a bit of a disappointing experience for a $600 dinner for what should have been a really memorable night for us.
I did the Pasta Tasting Menu with the Riserva Selection wine pairings, and it was exquisite. I loved every pasta dish and thought that the portions were the perfect size.
Let down all around
Sat at bar. Amazing but it is always amazing here
The sommelier was fantastic
We went for our anniversary. It was excellent. Only disappointment was we couldn’t do the pasta tasting unless all did it which was a bummer
The food, room and service were excellent. However, the entire dinner was nearly ruined by the LOUD inappropriate music. Roger Daltry and the Who screaming about teenage angst at top decibels almost caused us to leave. However, the host was kind enough to move us to an upstairs table where, even though the music was the same, the volume was tolerable. Whoever is in charge of the music needs to rethink what is appropriate for the over 40 crowd in the late evening.
This was an "event" meal - my daughter's birthday, and what a perfect venue for a celebration! We had the pasta tasting menu and 3 of us also opted for wine pairing; it did not disappoint. Each pasta course was delicious and was paired exquisitely with an Italian wine. The entire wait staff was knowledgeable, and our lead waitperson was delightful: my daughter knows CA wines and our waitperson equated the Italian grape(s) used for each wine with a corresponding Napa wine grape. This small kindness greatly enhanced our evening's enjoyment. Finally, instead of just the listed dessert, we were served four different desserts, each of which paired perfectly with our dessert wine. My daughter and I have enjoyed several wine pairing menus in NYC, including one at the late and lamented Felidia. This experience was every bit as memorable! I highly recommend Babbo. Whether you go for a tasting/pairing experience or "just" for a delightful meal. Babbo will not disappoint!
The food was amazing especially when considering the blending of spices and flavor combinations. The wait staff was well supervised and abundant as well as professional. The interior dining area was well appointed and excellent for it’s rather small size. The wine was fabulous and the waiter was knowledgeable about the selection of wines from Italy. This was our third trip to this restaurant which we will always visit when coming to New York. This is our top restaurant destination for New York.
Music was too loud
Amazing appetizers and pasta. Rigatoni with pear and pecorino the best!! Great cocktails too!
Good food, good service, and there was great energy in the atmosphere. The only negative is that their drinks and wine were prohibitively expensive.
Excellent food and service. The wine sommelier was incredibly informative and helpful, without being pushy.
Outstanding start to finish. Best octopus I have ever tasted (incredibly tender), the bucatini all’amatriciano was perfect (very Roman). Impeccable service that is very and relaxed (a young staff with bright smiling eyes). One small nit on the music, I prefer the din of a NYC restaurant over music any day.
Very enjoyable experience. The pasta tasting menu was superb. Service was impeccable.
Absolutely exquisite. Outstanding food, particularly the octopus and the olive oil cake. Unforgettable meal.
Neighborhood gem always delicious
Amazing food. Service was actually little too fast. Otherwise amazing service. Also GREAT gluten free pasta! Homemade!
Wife’s birthday . We were vegetarian so not much for us to eat besides pasta. Our kids are the steak which was amazing. The wine selection is awesome
Exquisite food. Top notch wine list. Attentive, knowledgeable, and charming servers. All of which were diminished by the shockingly loud music. Why does one of the best Italian restaurants in New York play music as though it were a dive bar? Conversation is very difficult. I definitely want to return, but I hesitate. My ears need to stop bleeding first.
I have been coming here for a long time and was excited to return. Sat upstairs per usual. The service was not where it used to be. The wait staff kept getting their sleeves and getting their hands in my drinking glasses - not covid safe and actually just not sanitary. Was an actual chore to get someone to clear the table. But honestly worst part, the music. Blasting what sounded like 9 inch nails/angry rock music. Could not hear anyone and very very very poor choice in music. This is not what I remember and am embarrassed for suggesting this for my celebration. This was my favorite restaurant. But the music was unbearable. When asked to turn it down no result. I truly don’t mind loud NY atmospheres but this is simply beyond reasonable for a restaurant at this level and a dinner that expensive.
Friendly restaurant with good food will recommend to friends. Thank you
The food did not live up to our expectations. Rabbit ragu was excellent but burrata with squash was underseasoned and the beef loin was tough. Was also advised by our waiter that the corn with it was still peak of season and it was not. Overall underwhelming. Wait staff was excellent and the playlist was fire, though.
The beef cheek ravioli is flawless. The special this night was a crusted veal chop that was melt-in-your-mouth goodness. The wine selection was beyond ample and sommelier recommended wine for our meal was on point. Dessert was delicious and the perfect ending for our meal. Over all, another great meal. My only question is how is this place not more packed!?!
Excellent food. Impeccable service. Great attention to detail. felt welcome. Food was 'personalized'. All requests were honored. COVID protocol was followed. We loved the evening. One suggestion: music could be less loud!
Outstanding offal, Negroni, and Amaro selections.
Food and service was at the highest level. We were able to eat outside which is what we wanted. It helped that the weather cooperated.
The menu had lots of great choices, the food was very tasty, the wine selection was beyond the best and service was very attentive without being overbearing. An outstanding establishment for a special dinner.
The only issue we had was that the music inside was very loud.
We had to change our table to outside.
Service was outstanding and the food was good.
Had my birthday dinner here! Food is delicious and the menu was adventurous, staff was great with explaining foods
Music is really loud...
Tables are tight. The food is fantastic though!
Great food, great service.
The octopus was fantastic. Very tender and a little bit of crispy texture at the same time.
It’s as good as it always has been
