We had the pasta tasting menu and were seated outside. Delicious food, friendly service, and perfect early summer weather -- it was a lovely experience!
The food was great. A big plus for me is that they have sweetbreads on the menu, one of my favorites. The service was professional and a birthday in our group was recognized. It's pricey but all good.
Everything was perfect. Ordered the tasting menu and it was fantastic!
Amazing experience. Did the pasta tasting, which was definitely more than filling. Worth it, but just make sure you come in hungry and on an empty stomach as you will leave very full & satisfied!
Things were great until they cranked up Led Zeppelin to ear— splitting volume - requiring shouting to be heard. A manager smugly stated ‘that’s how the owners like it’. Apparently the owners couldn’t care less about their guests. Possibly just trying to drive diners out to make room for the next round. Horrible way to end a meal.
One of my favorite places- may be working out post covid kinks in kitchen.. Service was very good-cocktails, first course and pasta course outstanding- both of our main dishes were lacking. Duck a bit boring- pork chop was tough as a shoe. Over all a nice night despite ‘protein’ selection.
Always outstanding in every way possible. Great food, great service, wonderful ambiance.
Amazing service from everyone we had contact with! Pasta portions were huge
Simply one of a kind in the city. Great food and service, a wonderful place to experience a true NY evening. A gem of a place!
Our server really did not know too much about the menu. The music was inappropriate and blasting. I have had some excellent experiences here in the past but was very embarrassed to bring family here. I will not be going back to Babbo in the future and do not recommend it.
The best lamb I have tried, outstanding quality of the meat. The pastas are also very good.
I stop dining at Babbo about 3-4 years ago because the blasting music they play. Not only is too loud but the genre is not a suitable one for the type of restaurant they are. Seems intentionally so patrons don’t talk as it is close to impossible without screaming. It is a restaurant not a dance club. When confirming the reservation I reminded them about my concern and was assured that it wasn’t like that anymore... well I find out the hard way, because it was if not worst. The unpleasant situation was expressed to the management and nothing was done about. This time was the last!
Overall it was ok. Food was good. Service was good.
I highly recommend Babbo. The food is excellent, drink menu extensive, and the music adds a nice touch. The staff knows the menu very well and can adjust mostly anything to your liking.
Food and service was excellent. Background music was loud.
Our first visit since the end of 2019 - and it’s better than ever, with some new, delicious menu additions, and the same friendly and attentive service. We sat outside in one of the “bungalows” that was as well-ventilated as any of the new structures we’ve been in. And as compared to sitting indoors, which was buzzing with a full house on a Saturday night, the outside was quiet and serene. Of course, it was a bit chilly, but the overhead heaters worked well, and it was nice of feel a cool breeze moving the air for us, and the other three tables for two.
We started with the arugula salad, followed by a new pasta - ravioli stuffed with a purée of pear, and sauced like a cacio e pepe pasta, followed by a special of soft shell crabs. A side of the new mashed potato dish was delicious. And we finished with one of several new desserts - a rich and satisfying chocolate caramel tart.
We will be back - and soon.
Exceeded expectation - every course was fantastic
Service was amazing and the food went along. Absolutely loved all of our plates.
Reserved a table in advance and they put us outside with homeless people asking us for food and water. Plenty of tables inside available. Would not consider eating here again. Food was mediocre, service was excellent.
The food was exceptional and the wine som Luis was fantastic. He found superb wines from the depth of his cellar. Thank you
One of the best Italian restaurants in NYC. It was a family reunion and our waiter Mark was excellent, courteous and solicitous. Answered all our questions and extremely helpful with the food allergies by one in our group. All food and wine pairings were spot on. Look forward to our next visit.
My wife had the sea bass which was nice, I had the branzino which was really good, soft, moist and flavorful! My wife and I changed dishes and she finished the branzino. My son had the sirloin. My son is not a sirloin person but he said that this sirloin made him understand why people eat sirloin. Beautiful restaurant but choice of music was questionable, we were listening to Queen do ‘We will rock you’ I like Queen, but it’s not dinner music!
The appetizer that I choose was out of stock! The branzino for main no tasty... plane
The restaurant got old and run down. It was pretty dingy when we walked in. The menu changed and was very limited. Only 1 salad on the menu and they were not willing to accommodate. The portions were extremely small and pricey. The olive cake dessert was tiny and and no taste. He kept pushing the special dessert which was also tasteless.I will not return here .
Amazing dishes facilitated by attentive staff and outdoor patio made the experience memorable.
Food was good. We sat at the table for 10 min before anyone even came to the table to give us the menus or even welcome us
Babbo Ristorante is a consistently fine dining experience. The menu is vast and pricey, but worth the splurge. Great ambiance and fine helpful waiters make it a very good experience.
Outside dining very uncomfortable
My wife and I had an excellent meal, sitting outside in their streetside pavilion. It being an absolutely beautiful early-summer evening but one-half block from Washington Square Park where everyone under the age of 30 was celebrating the beginning of summer and the (hopefully not premature) end of the pandemic, it was a little noisy. However, the restaurant did its best to compensate by playing rock and blues over their own outdoors sound system, hoping I suppose that the collision of the two sound sources would cancel, leaving a blissful silence like that produced by our fancy Bose headphones that we all used during the takeoff from JFK as we were flying off to a weekend in Paris (at least in the good old days of 2019). That scheme didn't quite work, but as I said, the food was great, as was the service. We both had the tasting menu, and were so stuffed with delicious treats that when the penultimate course arrived -- braised lamb shoulder -- we had to have it boxed (that will be tonight's meal) so that we could continue on to the ricotta ice cream and the walnut cake. Sated, and satisfied, we headed home and watched the last two installments of binged Hannah, the sad end to a great day.
Just as spectacular as always. Absolutely perfect. One of our favorites for twenty years. It made our anniversary perfect.
Always delicious and they were extremely accommodating and had a lot of options for my friend who is gluten free.
Service was lukewarm. Food was amazing. We sat outside and it was a very nice setup with music.
A wonderful meal! It is expensive, but worth it.
Wow! The service here was amazing. Took our friend out, the staff was just amazing. Made sure to know her name. Attentive but not pushy. The pasta was incredible. The carpaccio, the lamb, the mozzarella di Buffalo - I can’t get over how amazing AND the service. They were so nice, not snobby or entitled at all (like one normally finds at a Michelin star restaurant in NYC). We will ALL be back - 10’s across the board.
The upstairs dining room was perfect for our graduation celebration! All of the food was delicious and the staff was so attentive, we couldn’t help but notice that someone was always there to check on us or refill our glasses.
How can anyone feel comfortable when one is rushed and boxed into such a 1 hour and 45 minute time confinement? Needless to say we did not order dessert or coffee/tea because God knows I wouldn't want to overstay our welcome...
From the warm and genuine welcome, to the outstanding food, Babbo was just wonderful in every way. The ravioli were as delicious as I’ve eaten at Felidia, the prosciutto literally melted in your mouth, the desserts not only looked beautiful but were delicious and the perfect size.
Dinner was fantastic , incredible pasta and the pork chop is still the Babe Ruth of Pork Chops! There used to be more value on the wine list which is extensive (pretty much only Italian). So the only thing I would say is better value on the wine list.
We had the pasta tasting menu. The quality of the food does not come close to pre-pandemic standards. Will try again in 6 months...
My family and I chose Babbo as our first dinner out to celebrate our birthdays solely because Chef Nicotra was there. We are all great fans of his culinary creations and followed him to Babbo from Felidia. While we came for Chef Nicotra, and he did not disappoint, I want to say that each and every one of the staff members was lovely, extremely knowledgeable and created a wonderful evening for us. The wagyu beef carpaccio, tuna crudo/tartare, cacio e pere, beef cheeks ravioli and paccheri were standouts at the table, but we also couldn't stop talking about the bean and mint puree amuse bouche and pistachio semifreddo! Thank you to the Babbo team for making our first meal out such a wonderful treat....and thank you for the AMAZING food!
