What Insiders Are Saying
Babbo is still the best place to feel good in this town.
Always a great experience. Food wine and service were outstanding. After you have been here a few times you will zero in on a few dishes that are so good you have to get them every time you go.
Bloody amazing. One of the best meals o have ever had. Service outstanding.
One of my favorite Italian restaurants in the city. There is not one thing on the menu that is not good.
If I can give a 6 or even 10 stars on every category I would. This is my go to place for special events. From entrance, wait staff, appetizers, music, main course, drinks, our exit everything was top notch. My love and I really felt welcome. Everyone felt genuinely happy that we were there and happy to help with any questions.
Wait staff’s energy is fantastic, friendly, happy and very welcoming.
Thank you for a memorable night.
This place is overrated. Quality of food is inconsistent w the $. Music is waaaay too loud & strange. Sorry, but wasn’t our thing at all...
Very slow service, but quick to clear food not yet finished. The pasta entrees were excellent. The bread was dry and the crust was burnt.
Was looking forward to returning to Babbo for diner. The food was delicious but unfortunately the service was not so good.
The food did not disappoint. Delicious cocktails, pastas and seafood. The service was impeccable, but lacked a personal feeling. Lighting was a bit bright for such a high end restaurant.
This restaurant is competely over rated and over price! So much expectation of this 5 stars and $$restaurant, but so disappointed with the food. I have to sent back my pasta dish twice because is was truly not up to standard and terrible!!! You expect your $25 pasta dish be yum and delicous but it was VERY DISAPPOINTED! I would not recommend anyone go to that restaurant only if you think throwing $300 dinner is nothing for you. Then good luck!
There's a reason why it's hard to get a prime-time reservation and that the final $ amount you pay is high. It's worth it. The room is lovely and quiet enough to feel like you're not at all in a room full of other people, the service could not be better, and the food? Glorious.
I found it hard to handle blasting Rolling Stones music. I don’t mind the music but the loudness was off putting. You could hardly hear each other or the waiter 😱
Had impromptu lunch with girlfriend -every aspect was super, with lunch menu just perfect. Wonderful experience.
Garganelli and burrata were amazing.
Babbo has become outdated. Everything about the evening was old and burdensome. Although we have been there a number of times, our last experience felt like an ordinary dinner. Our waiter got the drink order wrong and tried to blame us for his mistake. Maybe because other pasta places have improved, there was nothing special about the ravioli and squid pasta we had at Babbo. It is time to modernize the place and the menu.
Great place with the best Italian wine menu in town
Everything was perfect
Food was AWESOME , just a great experience overall
Some of the best Italian food you can find in NYC without a doubt. Excellent, fast, and kind service. My only complaint is that the loud blues playing over the speaker seemed out of place. Not saying that the music should be Vivaldi, or classical at all for that matter, but some quiet guitar or jazz would seem like a much more appropriate match for what is truly an excellent menu and impressive wine list.
Rock and ROLL Italian! Not the value of Becco but boy do the flavors pop. Best Italian wine list in town. Lovely two story location nearWashington Square in old Coach House digs. Young and hip and not showing any age despite Mario Batali flame out.
We had lunch at Babbo yesterday before our Broadway show. We have been here before and it did not dissappoint. The drink/beer menu is very nice. The lunch menu has a few selections but I am sure eveything on the menu is delicious. I ordered the Pork Belly Pyramid, my wife had the pasta bolgnese and my daughter had the Beef Cheek ravioli. We all absolutely loved our meals. The fresh bread and olive oil is also amazing.
Love it! Eveything is super tasty!!
Excellent dinner! Great food, great service! The whole family loved it!
I had somehow not been to Babbo and arrived with high expectations. Those expectations were more than met. Service was exceptional and every dish was a great experience. I will definately be back.
Still the best restaurant in town!
Delicious, great service, wonderful woman sommelier, and a fun bar!
We've been to Babbo many times. We usually do the pasta tasting and loved it in the past. This time, there was one dish that everyone at our table hated. It was a pasta dish with some type of arugula pesto. It was so bitter you could barely eat it. I had to scrape off all of the sauce. My husband is the least picky eater I know and even thought that the sauce was horrible. I'm not sure why they have this on the menu, but for the price of the tasting menu, all of the dishes should be amazing. They aren't.
The entire staff was wonderful and the food was sublime!
AMAZING DELICIOUS AMAZING STAFF HAD SUCH A GREAT DINNER!!
Meal started out with a wait for our table 15 minutes after our reservation. Gentleman at the front quickly offered a couple of glasses of Prosecco as we waited. He was very pleasant and an obvious pro. Food was tasty and service was dry, but attentive. Sommelier seemed full of himself, maybe because I ordered a $90 bottle and it wasn’t anything special perhaps? I wanted to try Bastianich’s wine seeing as he was part owner. Opened the bottle, said 2 words to me and then never saw him again. He almost seemed disgusted with my choice. Left a bad taste as it was obvious he didn’t give AF about us. Don’t see a master sommelier medal in his future that’s for sure. The wine was pretty good actually! Waiter was pleasant but with zero personality. Assembly line service. Not sure how they got a Michelin star to be honest. Might just be riding it from the past. All in all it was an OK experience. Expected more. $600 bill for 4 people which included 2 teenage girls.
Everything was fantastic!
Great as always! Wonderful food and stellar service. The tasting menu was great and the premier wine pairings did add to the experience as our sommelier said that it would. The evening was very enjoyable from start to finish.
Service was a bit too relaxed for
The Black Shrimp pasta and the whole grilled branzino were phenominal.
Food and service was great. It took them 45 minutes past our reservation time to seat us because people took a long time at their tables, but the staff was very apologetic and sent out multiple complementary items to make up for it.
The only real negative was the experience waiting for our table. The host advised us get a drink at the bar but it was impossible to even reach the bar because it was very cramped and people were eating their dinners by the bar. It was a very unpleasant 15 minutes.
As usual, a fabulous meal with great service in a lively, but comfortable atmosphere. Babbo is first on our list in a city of fabulous dining experiences! It is just consistently excellent, live it here and highly recommend!
As with all Bastianich restaurants
Sommelier was knowledgeable, but lacked warmth and connection. Came across a bit self-indulgent. The food service was rushed. Otherwise, the dishes were delicious as expected and the wine pairings were thoughtful and of exceptional quality.
One of the best meals I've ever had in NYC! My wife and I went to Babbo to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. Outstanding food, fantastic service, and the prices were surprisingly reasonable.
The oxtail gnocchi and the grilled pork chop were very good. The goose ravioli was a bit undercooked and the octopus was fine. The music was to loud. As a whole we expected more consistency in the quality of the food, some was very good, some so so.
Definitely overpriced for the service and food.
