The atmosphere is festive and has a great bar. The staff is very nice and the food is excellent. Try the delicious vegetable Biryani!
Highly recommend this place, the food and ambiance are perfect.
Restaurant taking too many reservations and seating the people in the patio with the overhead heater. Ridiculous ambiance for $600 dinner.
Too loud for conversation
Front door hostess was not cooperative and rude. Everything else was nice!
The food was ok. Dinner menu was def much better . The singer was not great for a Saturday brunch. Brunch menu puts a lot of restrictions on ordering with limited options for sides
It was very good
Overall food was good - some items we ordered were under salted e.g. beef short rib small plate. Ambience is nice/trendy and service was great.
Not worth the money!!! Baar Baar's word of mouth far overshadows the actual experience of a paying customer. When asked about allergies, the staff had no idea and mistakenly recommended foods on the menu. They were out of almost all non-alcoholic drinks in the peak of their brunch hour. The dancing and the music was fun, but the man singing karaoke would get very very loud - should just stop. It is a minimum $40/person which does not get you huge portions. Overrated and not a fantastic dining experience
Fancy concept but the food was no better than a mediocre takeout place.
Great place if you like Indian. Nice vibe and friendly service. Food was a bit heavy for my liking but comes with the Indian food choice overall. Plates are small and a good night out!!
My husband and I, ate their tonight. By the time we reached home .. my husband started feeling stomach ache and felt uneasy. Also the food did not feel fresh and the roti we ordered was cold first time and we asked them to replace it.
The price is not at all worth for the portions and food taste is very average. Also, the thing that surprised me - we had to pay for chutney!! (Which I hope to get it with my appetizer)
Overall, the experience did not meet our expectations.
Baar Baar was great! The food was all good and the service was efficient. I didn’t find anything to be obviously superior to other good Indian restaurants, including less expensive Indian restaurants, which is why I rated Baar Baar as 4 stars (and not 5 stars).
Excellent as always I had the pork belly which has a good sweet and sour thing going for it which is decent the prawn balcho was cooked well and the short rib curry was very rich the Lagan nu custard was nice light way to end my meal nice to see chef sujan sarkar present the 2 humans next to me complained about their level 0 chicken being spicy I suppose if you are a proper Asian you will enjoy the food but desire more spice if you are white and think salt is too spicy for you then every non desert item on the food menu is too much for you, coming to an Indian food place and complaining about spicy food is like going to a french bistro asking for bernaise sauce with no butter
The small plates were fantastic! Decent service and great ambience
One of the worst dining experiences we've had. We were served old lamb and after talking to the server, they didn't do anything to remedy the situation. All food, quality and quantity were terrible.
My brother told me this restaurant was one of the best Indian restaurants he'd ever been to, so my boyfriend and I went. The food was...awful. It came out within 2 minutes and hardly seemed cooked. I wonder if the head chef has left or something.
The cocktails were bad too. I ordered an old fashioned and it tased like straight whiskey on ice.
We had made a reservation and got there at the time we chose, but were told that there were no tables available. We were told we could sit outside, so we had to sit outside in the cold or wait 30+ minutes for our ALREADY RESERVED table. The drinks were great - We loved the kairi mule.
Then the main course arrived. The server told us one plate could easily be shared by two people, but the portion sizes were TINY.
In summary, I would not go back here again. 2/10 experience.
It was a wonderful night watching Diwali being celebrated. The service was great despite the large parties
being served. Cuisine was excellent. Our table shared several small bites and each person had a main course.
Thank you again Baar Baar for and excellent evening.
Good service and great food. The sea bass was outstanding.
This was an awful experience.
1. Our table wasn’t ready, and they placed us in some really awful makeshift indoor/outdoor seating set up that felt like we were eating in the lobby of the office building next door.
2. The food came out cold or was not prepared to be served outside and got cold too quickly and congealed. Indian curry congealed…
3. They had a Halloween party/event that turned the whole place into a club effectively. People were on mics at one point. And there was no notice about that to people who went there just to dine.
4. The service was really awful too. Usually good service can save bad food or bad ambiance, but the servicer was not knowledgeable of allergy substitutions, forgot parts of our order, took a long time to bring things and then brought everything out at once.
5. At the end, I gave feedback about the cold food, and the server became argumentative. I wasn’t asking for anything, i was just sharing a tip because he seemed offended that we asked for the check while most of our dishes remained full and untouched. Instead of just accepting the feedback he came up with excuses.
It’s also not a cheap place to eat and so you would think that you’re paying for the quality and the service, and we got none of that. Our meal was $200 and I would rather have had McDonald’s and enjoyed it…I went here because a friend recommended it and was really excited, but wow, was it all a disappointment.
Amazing service and food. Every dish was outstanding, we tried many dishes.
Great food. Good service.
Authentic flavors. Attentive service. Unique items across the length and breadth of India fused with international touches. Drinks over hyped (well presented but flavors not the greatest). Would recommend and repeat. Bengali fish with mustard, saag, gongura chicken, allepey prawns- all incredible. A breath of fresh air compared to the pretentious (and below par on taste and flavor) Sona on 20th St…tried them both in the same week.
Great music, ambiance. Falls extremely flat in food. Terrible daal makhani-- extremely watery and not cooked through. "Fun" modern indian ideas ended up being non-indian dishes found at American restaurants.
Good was just ok. Better Indian food in NYC. Butter chicken lacked flavor and the chicken was dry and over cooked. The short rib curry no flavor. Cauliflower was very good. All in all not worth going back.
We didn’t enjoy being sat in the back corner behind the register because it made us feel closed off from the rest of the restaurant. The food was hit or miss, some items are great and others not so much. Drinks were good but overpriced, as was the food.
Creativity! Well-executed dishes and killer cocktails. The inside vibe is amazing but we love the outdoor space as well!
The restaurant staff was very accommodating and friendly and made it a great dining experience. Not a typical Indian restaurant as the menu options are unique and they have given every plate a new spin . We ordered baked chicken malai tikka, paneer chili, gangura chicken curry, paneer pinwheel makhini and Kairi mule cocktail. Must try.
Absolute worst service I've ever had. Our server was extremely rude, dismissive, inefficient. She didn’t even bring one of the dishes that we ordered after repeatedly asking for it. She was hanging out at a table while we waited an hour for food. We had to go remind her that we had been waiting for half an hour to even take our order. When the Bill came she gave a hard time taking off the dish she simply did not bring us and stormed off. She would even refuse to bring us condiments when we asked. At the end, she added automatic gratuity, on a table of four. Absolute worst experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant.
The restaurant forces you to buy a large entree per person. But they didnt let us know this until we sat down and started ordering food that, it was one of their rules. I just believe they should ask the waiter or before getting seated that this was the case.
Food was ok but expensive. Service is excellent. Don’t expect OpenTable points.
The drinks were imbalanced and not smooth .. out of the apps only jackfruit cutlet was good .. the other two tuna toastadas and paneer weren’t as good …
lamb keema and butter chicken keeps me coming back
Waited 3 hours to get food. They were gracious enough to give us free food for the wait but still not making it a good experience at all.
Great place, however the service is super slow even on a non busy night. Our bill was exchanged with another guest as well. So nit sure whats happening even though they were not busy.
As always I enjoyed my visit the manager once again great guy needs a raise, my waitress was very good, I think they had a new guy male my prawn Balcho it wasn't as spicy as the last time I had it, the tuna bhel Excellent as spicy as my mother's food, dahi puri had for the first time it was interesting a little sweet the chocolate rum ball was good a lot of truffles on the kulcha also very good I always enjoy my visit
The food was complex, creative and had a balanced level of spiciness. Very nice selection of vegetarian dishes. Wines were not exorbitant by New York standards. The service was attentive and genuinely warm, not obsequious. We will go back!
The taste changed and the service was poor
Went to Baar Baar for restaurant week and it was wonderful. The food was incredible. The atmosphere and aesthetics were nice. The service was great.
