Delicious food, cozy, very nice waitress
Great food and service. The outdoor patio is awesome!
Undercooked rice in the paella—had to send it back.
Beautiful feel and ambiance. Food was amazing. 10-10
Came into the city with my dad and had Tapas. There are two menus: one Spanish and one French. We went with Spanish Tapas. Decent for the price.
The sangria was amazing! The garlic bread and the patatas are great here
Loved that we order off both B 44 and Bastille's menus. Great dinner, thanks!
Excelente servicio y deliciosa comida
Table are set way too close, no social distance.
Thank you for a wonderful evening.
Really attentive and friendly service. Food was delicious and came to the table quickly. It’s a part of this French Bistro as well, so we also ordered the French Onion Soup which was amazing. The paella and pinxto lamb skewers didn’t disappoint. I was bummed with the amount/flavor of the tomatoes on the Pan Amb Tomaquet (bread with tomato). We also got it with the Iberico jambon, which kinda overpowered it. The bathroom was very clean.
In general it was incredible, and I don’t think this should deter you from coming in. Just mentioning it to help set expectations for anyone with Catalonia sentimentality set expectations.
Very nice outside sitting, Food is excellent and also their wine list. Felt like being back in Paris eating the Croque Madame :)
We ordered the squid ink paella, gambas and brussel sprouts, all of which were so scrumptious. Service was excellent. Thank you to our server, Reno. Definitely the best waiter. I definitely would come back.
Best Tortilla in Town! Went for lunch today - B44 is great and you also have their french menu from their sister restaurant Cafe Bastille - great service, food and WINE Menu! 😊😊❤️
We dined on Saturday evening. Our 3rd time in COVID. We are finally venturing out snd B44 is a great place to feel comfortable and a little back to “normal” . You can order from B44 and Cafe Bastille menu. We did both. Our server was wonderful and food delicious . We had the shrimp and the lamb skewers, coco vain and wonderful lime frites. My favorite was the shrimp but my partner love the lamb . We ended with churros. We will be back thank you
we ordered tapas and the Tortilla de Patatas was really plain, the Spanish cheese plate, looked straight from the Costco tray... I ate here in 2017 and it was way better, besides the sangria was already a bit watery. I won't go back again. Sorry
Felt safe, which is how these reviews should start.
We chose B44 for the many options that come from the blend of Spanish/French dishes. Went full Spanish this time around. Excellent special, particularly the boar dish. Excellent drinks, service was as good as you can ask for.
We were seated in the outdoor patio for COVID safety, which was great, but the location was extremely windy and excessively cold on a 70°F day. The overhead heaters do not work. The overall ambience is terrible.
We were there for the Eat&Drink sf special. We also ordered several tapas and a main dish from the regular menu. This flexibility is good. But the food is underwhelming. The famous garlic shrimp is not catalan, but more like south america, with very heavy not-spanish-tasting spice that completely overwhelmed the shrimp. The paella was very bland. It was clear that the seafood was previously boiled (without spice) and added on top of the paella at the last minute. The soup felt like melted butter (way too much butter).
Definitely will not go back.
Tasty food at fair prices. Really good rabbit.
overall, our experience was great! however, the outdoor seating area didn't really feel like social distancing since it was a tad crowded
Loved having dinner on the patio for our birthday celebration - bonus of being able to order from both B44 and Cafe Bastille. Great service, warm ambiance. Belden lane is a gem.
B44 is the best Spanish restaurant in the SF/Bay Area. I ate at Teleferic in Walnut Creek a few weeks ago and although it has come up, it just doesn't come close to B44. For Dine-in SF Week, B44 offered a $40 dinner menu that included a choice of 3 starters, 2 entree and 2 desserts - what a deal (but the regular menu is a bit high, like at all tapas restaurants). And the entree (I had paella) was the same size as on the regular menu! Good adult beverage menu.
Tapas all came out together and got cold. Would be nicer to space them more instead of bringing them out all at once. Nonetheless food is very good.
Salad was very good. Paella was ok. The service was great. They did their best with the out door service too.
Thank you
After a cold and windy experience at another restaurant due to COVID restrictions, I wanted my family to see how it's really done at a place that has been offering outdoor dining for decades. Frankly, my intention was to dine at Café Bastille, but they have combined with B44, using the area in front of B44, for actually dining. Having the availability to order from both menus made our meals more flexible with both French and Spanish flavors. Both restaurants have always been among my favorites. Service is even more impeccable, primarily because there are less tables to demand attention. But it is sad and I commend the server who had to deal with unwanted fractions that wander to an almost empty alley. Regardless, I look forward to a more normal in the future and will continue to patronize the restaurant in good times and bad.
Secluded but beautiful restaurant so authentic you feel like you’re back and Europe 10/10 recommend and I will definitely be going back the paella was amazing
Excellent food, exceptional service.
Had the signature B44 Paella that didn't look like much, but after splitting the order, were glad we did, after the fried calamari and ceviche appitizers, we were definitely full, along with a few glasses of Sangria and Chardonnay. Will be back!
Great food and service. Reasonable prices. Great Albariño.
We love B44! It brings back memories of an authentic European dining experience. The Squid Ink Paella is a must, and the gambas, warm octopus and roasted beets with arugula are consistently good. We were also given the unique option of ordering off the menu of their sister restaurant next door, Cafe Bastille.
They have a tented patio with heat lamps that kept us comfortable on a windy night. Kudos to management and staff for ensuring a safe and pleasant dine out experience during these uncertain times.
Long time San Francisco restaurant. One is the original outdoor places which are now the norm. Great Catalan food and friendly service.
The service was very friendly and attentive, and the server was helfpul in explaining wines. The food was delicious and coursed perfectly. Tucked into Belden Lane with heaters and enclosed awnings, it's the perfect place to escape for outdoor dining on a cool San Francisco evening.
Great food and atmosphere. Felt like I was in Europe.
This was a nice patio to eat on, with enough space from other diners. Service was charming and excellent, though food pacing maybe could be better -- all the tapas came at once right away, then a longish wait for paella, etc. Tapas were excellent. Paella was a little underpowered, compared to other Spanish places in the area.
Excellent food. Friendly, fast and efficient service.
Meals were ordinary and social distancing was questionable
Food was amazing
Great food
Excellent service
Great wine
Considering all the restrictions we need to encounter, the experience was amazing. Thanks for the wait staff for making everything wonderful - especially the waitress with Bulgarian descent. And of course the food was exquisite!
We were not very impressed by B44. Attracted by a magazine article that B44 had outdoor seating, we made a reservation. The tent covered patio was just ok, tables were small, there was no atmosphere.
The food, we ordered 4 dishes, was average. The Gambas al ajillo first came out burned, we asked for a fresh dish, which was brought out quickly, but we felt it had too much paprika. The Jamon Iberico was good. The Tortilla Espanola was okay, could have used a little more salt. The Pincho Moruno (Lamb Skewers) were okay, again nothing amazing.
Sadly we will not be returning, we had high hopes to find a good Catalan Tapas Restaurant. This was not it.
