Love this place. Good menu and my favorite salmon dish makes me a happy diner!
It was a pleasant experience. I mentioned ahead about my special occasion and the staff was very accommodating.
Our waiter was very mindful of our immediate show after dinner.
Highly recommend for date or dinner before a show.
The restaurant's food, service and ambience were excellent. I love the food and if I could, I would eat there once a week!
The person who waited on us was spot on. She was courteous, accommodating, patient and engaging, that within itself boosted the ratings of the establishment.
Great find in civic center area. Very good service, great music, tasty brunch.
The best thing about it is the bar. The drinks are good, and if you're going to a show at the Jazz Center, it's nice to be able to bring your drink in a plastic cup into the auditorium and sip it at your seat. But I can't recommend the food at B-side. My husband said his fried chicken sandwich was fine, but my burger was awful. I asked for it "as rare as possible" and got it well-done and so dry it was brittle. Hard to cut with a knife!
It's in a great location for civic center attractions. The food and staff were great, too.
THE ONLY THING THIS RESTAURANT HAS GOING FOR IT IS ITS PROXIMITY TO SF JAZZ.
What a relief to find a new easy eatery in Hayes Valley, designed for pre-show noshing and drinks. Glad it's finally become the space inside SFJazz it was meant to be.
Great food, reasonable prices. I love the decor :) Best place to eat before a show.
Pleasant, casual, very convenient, with tasty food, good for small plates sharing. Noise level is a plus.lots of activity, but still at decibels that make conversation possible which adds to dining pleasure
Had dinner before seeing Hamilton. Great menu, great service and a great space. Would come back!
Open Table booked a reservation at a restaurant that was closed for a week. What kind of service is that?
Informal, friendly, good food and value. Order at the counter and they bring your food to wherever you choose to sit - indoors and some outdoors tables. The breakfast sandwich with pastrami, eggs and cheese was really good and the “small” orange juice was fresh, tasty and 6-8 ounces. Coffee good. I’ll be back when in the city hall/performing arts center area.
Food was very mediocre. I've had better in fast food restaurants. Service was lousy and slow. They offer a brunch, yet no espresso machine?
Menu is limited, but what they do they do well. Excellent service, great steak frites and key lime pie and very cool atmosphere.
Enjoyed my veggie burger and beer. Good portion size and good service.
So much fun located in SFJazz with delicious food, friendly service and good people watching . Cocktails yummy
I love coming here before a show. Food is good and a nice selection of cocktails. Also, easy to have a conversation in.
Visited B-Side before the Jose James late show on Saturday June 15th. Went with my husband and had a great meal.
Service was great, everyone was really friendly and helpful. We split a bottle of TerraNoble from Chile, and it was delicious, reminiscent of a Syrah.
We ordered two appetizers, the brussels sprouts, and the chive blossoms with calamari. Both were great and really complimented the other. The portions were huge, and we should have only ordered one dish. (Is probably go with the sprouts again.)
My husband had the b-side burger, and I had the veggie burger. Both were well prepared and seasoned. The veggie burger had great flavor and texture but crumbled very easily. I ended up eating it with a fork. We both opted for the tater tots as our side, and they were good but not quite what I wanted. They needed a good sauce.
Over all we were really happy if not too full.
Hit and miss. Probably better for drinks and appetizers.
A favorite before SF Jazz concerts. Creative cocktails well made.
Was served a Fried Chicken Burger with the meat being off. The rest of our order generally tasted great. Service was great until things started going wrong.
Seems to be a hidden gem a block away from Hayes Street.
Stopped in for a quick bite. I had the cheese plate. Tasty selection of cheeses, interesting jam that I enjoyed with each of the cheeses, as well as grapes and Marcona almonds. Yum. My husband had the shrimp tacos. Nicely presented and he really enjoyed it; though he said it would have been too spicy for my taste (he knows me well). Great place to stop in prior to a concert when time is tight, or not.
Food was okay, although my medium-rare hamburger was cooked past well-done. Never delivered our apps before our dinners arrived. Restaurant did give us one of the apps free, with dinner. Overall okay experience. I might go again if other places in the area were not available, or if attending a concert.
Warm staff, attentive, chill
Before show bites and cocktails.
On the way to Jazz at the SFJazz Center? On the way to the Nourse, Symphony, Opera.....or, on the way to have a meal with family or friend in a quality spot? That's B-Side. Everything has been excellent. We love soft artichokes and have learned to ask about that. Here, there's understanding as to why. Even the mixed veggies have their own distinct flavors, plus super colorful and in season. The ribs are succulent, not oily sloppy. The salmon is moist with an outside crunch, and the appetizers are a nice size to share: Burrata that's just the right consistency to spread, tater-tots with a hint of fresh herbs, and the prawn soft taco with a quality tortilla that won't fall apart. Another time, it was a better-than-basic burger that we'd order again if we couldn't get to our 5-star burger spot.
B-Side is a great place to go before a performance at SF Jazz...or just to go to! The food is good, the menu is not huge, but varied and the service is great. My only wish is that there were more vegetarian options. There is a veggie burger, which is good, but it would be nice to have a teensy bit more variety. Always enjoy going to B-Side. The brunch is particularly good.
I didn't ask for bar service when making reservation because I need a chair back. Hostess accommodated by seating us at lower seating at end of bar- which worked out fine.
Fabulous brussel sprouts, terrific burger with a salad. I've gone twice and I'm looking forward to more!
Unexpected location which turned out to be perfect for Davies Symphony Hall. The tall windows and full view of the street were awesome as it was pouring rain. Music was somewhat loud but as the restaurant filled it blended into the background. Food and service was tremendous.
Sooooo tasty for brunch. Cozy nice casual. Just a really great space. Feels like your favorite coolest aunt/uncles place in the best way. I love the Jazz center but independent of that, this place is worth the visit. Truly the brunch was delicious and I could actually hear my brunch companions and never felt rushed.
One of our favorite places to go before SF Symphony performance.
Fancy crafted drinks made in front of you if you sit at the bar for dinner!
Entrees are so tasty; you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Highly recommended.
A great casual option for pre-concert dining. Lots of good choices. Service was efficient and friendly.
I liked the B-Side. Their spinach salad is great! Their service is excellent. It's also convenient if you're seeing a show @ the SF Jazz Center, which is a great venue. It is wise to get reservations. They also have a nice bar area. I recommend it..
Our first time here. It is a great find for a meal before the Ballet. The food was reasonably priced and a good selection. I had the fried chicken sandwich which was great. The service was excellent and noise level was low for good conversation.
B-Side was empty when we arrived for our 1 p.m. reservation, prompting concerns that the place might not be that good. But our misgivings were misplaced; our meals were delicious and more diners eventually came in. The room was quiet enough that we could carry on a conversation with our out-of-town guest without having to raise our voices.
My two companions ordered an omelet and Eggs Benedict, while I ordered French toast and a side of bacon. The egg dishes and the bacon came out together; the French toast not for another 10 minutes. Why couldn't the dishes have all come at the same time? Since we were the only folks in the restaurant at the time, the chef wasn't under pressure and could have timed the dishes better. I was also disappointed in the coffee, which didn't seem very fresh.
B-Side is light, airy and uncrowded. The only decor is a wall with covers from old jazz albums, including Dave Brubeck's "Take Five." Our server was cordial and efficient.
With myriad dining options in Hayes Valley, B-Side has a lot of competition. They need to pick up their game for me to return or recommend them to a friend.
Great place to eat and hang before or after a show at SF Jazz. The cocktails are creative and well executed, and the food is on point
