Everything was fantastic a bit pricey but I knew that going in
Friendly and smooth serves.
The bar side is good.
Great waitress and food.
always the best. amazingly fresh raw seafood; delicious cooked items; excellent and friendly service; a focused wine list with something for everyone: what else could you ask for?
We reserved outdoor, did not realize they now have on-street outdoor in addition to the patio. We should have had to #1 know there were two options, and #2 chosen patio to be assured of sitting there. We were seated in the patio (quiet, below grade, nice) with the condition that we finish before a reservation who had known to ask for the patio. Plenty of time so OK. Excellent oysters and fried calamari served almost instantly not enough lemon when we asked for more (getting into annoying Curb Your Enthusiasm territory here). Waitstaff did not know anything about wine. Wine selection not great, an OK Sauvignon, terrible Reisling that was described as not sweet. Expensive salad a bit limp though fresh. Super good chocolate mousse. So a mixed experience, but great to be out again.
Always a good meal.
It's been many years since I have been here. Food is still good, but the prices have gotten steep. Do they make a great clam chowder? Absolutley. But $17?
Food and service not as good as it used to be :-(
It was a lovely evening on the outdoor dining patio. Wonderful service and very good food. I only wish I lived in the area so I could partake more often.
It was wonderful, the staff were very nice and efficient, the food delishes and the food choices great, the only negative was the web site says they offer a baked stuffed lobster and a 2 pound steamed lobster which they did not have
Unfortunately the meal was incredibly mediocre and not worth the high price tag. We have been Barbara Lynch fans for years, and this was a real disappointment. Service was fine and the oysters were, well, oysters, but that’s where it ended. The lobster appetizer was flavorless, the tomato salad was watery and runny and the fish mains were awful (and used some of the same sides as the appetizers?) There is better seafood in Boston and not as overpriced. Sorry to see this. Felt like the chef was asleep at the wheel. Not sure we’ll be back.
Service was excellent. Love the outdoor sidewalk seating. Food never disappoints. Oysters cold and delicious. Shrimp crisp and the clam chowder is to die for.
We all grew up in Boston and love thin chowder with celery! Plenty of clams, potatoes and perfect amount of salt pork/ bacon flavor.
Fried clams came to the table hot and sweet and fries were salty and perfectly cooked. The lobster roll was full of fresh lobster …… only complaint was the small pieces of lobster, always prefer larger chucks of lobster.
Second time visit B&G oyster. Their menu refresh every couple of months, we tried fried calamari, which is very nice.Lobster roll is with some lemon peel and very fresh.
Absolutely delicious, fresh, and creative seafood! Loved the open kitchen as well.
I was not impressed with the lobster roll, fries were not great either + very pricey
Waitress over charged bottle of wine. Good thing I looked at the bill. Waitress then messed up credit.Manager was no help at all. Tend to wonder if this is a common practice. They just got caught. Food was substandard.
Oysters were terrible. Clam chowder had more bacon than clams and was as thin as milk. Would not return.
Son leaving for college.
I have been going to B&G Oysters for many years. It is one of my favorite spots in Boston. The food and service are consistently high quality, and I have never been disappointed.
One of our South End favorites. Excellent outdoor space & very good wine.
Engaging - great food and helpful service.
Late lunch. Not crowded. Lovely out door seating. Attentive waitstaff.
We ordered 12 oysters, scallop crudo, calamari and crab avocado toast first for the toast I have never had such a bad avocado toast in my life. I’m convinced in dunkin doughnuts made one it would be better. They used what seemed to be stale wonder bread with avocado that was not fresh at all with barley any crab meat. The calamari was whatever due to the fact that every time I dipped the calamari in the aioli the breading came off and was super oily not crispy. The oysters were solid but the most expensive we had on our trip. You would expect to pay those high prices in a place that at least had air conditioning or some kind of air flow. Nothing bad to say about the crudo but bc everything else was so bad the crudo did not make up for it. To make things worse I was up sick most of the night. Definitely would advise anyone not to eat here.
Was good food, not great especially for the price, and the restaurant was uncomfortably hot inside (no apparent AC). No nonalcoholic cocktails which is disappointing from a Barbara Lynch restaurant especially.
Great meal and great staff. The staff was very attentive and helpful.
I can’t say enough about the assistance we received and the friendly atmosphere provided by all.
Been many times and generally have found the experience to be very good with the highlight being their variety and preparation of greasy fish. Last night was disappointing as fish was over cooked. The service was good but siting at the bar directly in front of the hot cooking area was very unenjoyable.
Oysters, wine, salmon, striped bass...all perfect, great service and great ambiance
We’ve been going to B & G every time we’re in Boston over the last 10-12 years and it’s consistently excellent every time. This time was no exception. Lots of outdoor space, friendly service and great oysters and wine.
It was wonderful. We sat outside in the courtyard. It was a lovely evening and our waitress was helpful in explaining the menu and she had great attitude and was friendly.
Delicious! First time tonight and 10/10 would recommend to everyone. We sat at the bar and had first hand experience watching everyone cooking and preparing our meal. Thank you! See you next time!
The food and service on this visit was a little hit or miss. Wrong items were brought out, or mistakenly brought to table next to us. Halibut was overcooked, calamari was under seasoned. But oysters, fried and raw, were fantastic. Still, a pleasant experience, especially on the side street patio, and we were happy to get out of the house for a meal we couldn't have done at home.
Best oysters and lobster roll!!
We had the opportunity to dine here while in the city. We sat at the bar and received great service from April. The oysters were incredible as was the clam chowder. We would definitely come back here!
Food used to be so good here. What happened??? Got the oysters Rockefeller and sea bass. Both were very bland.
Food was well prepared but overpriced. Paying for location, I guess.
Great service and outstanding food!
Consistently delicious food, good service, lovely outdoor seating.
Really good quality seafood with a limited menu so easy to choose!
The server was excellent- kind, patient, and friendly. The oysters and lobster roll were both fabulous. Menu is very tiny. We also got smoked salmon which was kind of like a mousse, it was ok. The oysters Rockefeller were terrible unfortunately. There was a storm and we had to move inside- the manager and service team dealt with the situation very well.
The service was very poor. The server never refilled the water, never pour the wine. When food arrived, no one checked on it within reasonable time. Awful. Good food as usual but no service whatsoever.
