This subterranean spot draws energy from its open kitchen which is surrounded by a white marble bar. In warmer weather, enjoy drinks and more on the stone patio; a favorite outdoor dining spot in the city. Please note that all reservations are for the interior of the restaurant. Our patio is available solely on a walk-in basis.

Small menu expensive for what you got.
Ordered the lobster roll and I was disappointed. For $34 each I don't expect the heel of the hotdog roll.
The pan fried halibut was too cooked, the dish was not accompanied of sauce or bouillon, therefore the dish itself was dry to the taste. The steamed clam was good but no more. The blue cod was very moist, accompanied by a very tasty sauce. We also had a lobster roll that was about average when compared to others in Boston
Overall we felt we did not get good value for the money we paid.
Great food. Table seated at did not allow for enough space between me and the person behind me. Prices are high don't mind as food is good but for the price, I would like to have been comfortable.
Attentive service. Patio seating nice. Great lobster; lobster salad too small. Very limited offering of US wines, malheureusement.
Our party of 6 thoroughly enjoyed our meal!!! Fantastic oysters to start the night followed by delicious entrees! Wait staff were fun and informative. We had a GREAT time ... highly recommend!
Hi Duke! I'm glad you enjoyed your visit! We look forward to seeing you again!
Many items ob the menu were not available
Food was outstanding and service was wonderful, too!
Thank you EmmaC for saying so!
Food was great, but nMissing some of the variety the menu used to have.
Thanks for the feedback! I'm glad you enjoyed your meal, and know that we are working on new and exciting dishes for the seasonal change! Cheers, Alex
Overpriced for what you get. And if you’re only going to serve fish you should know how to cook it. I’ve been here twice and both times my fish was dry and overcooked. The servings were small with only a tiny side dish. Overall the only reason to come here is the oysters.
Hi elizabethm, I'm so sorry to hear that this was your experience! I've reached out privately to follow up. Cheers, Alex
great location. Quiet, friendly and clean. Food is good but portions are very small and very pricey.
Hi BKbk, I'm glad you enjoyed the food and ambiance, I'm sorry to hear that the value wasn't there! I've reached out privately to follow up. Cheers, Alex
Best lobster roll, coleslaw & patio!! Matthew was a perfectly attentive server & so kind! I can’t wait to come back to Boston just to come here!!
Thanks ShannonA! I'll pass that along to Matthew. Cheers, Alex
Wonderful services and food! A great local restaurant! I would highly recommend!
Thanks CindyG! We look forward to your next visit!
One of my all time favorites!
We're very glad to hear it! Thank you for the high praise!
We sat in the patio. The whole fish was incredible. The service was attentive. Overall a wonderful evening.
Thanks Kim! We're glad you enjoyed the Branzino special we were featuring that evening. Cheers!
The key word here is OYSTERS!
If you like oysters look no further! They are so fresh and delicious. I have been to all the oyster restaurants in Boston and hands down, this is my favorite!
Treat yourself to a glass of chablis while sucking down the pearls of the sea and fill up with some fried clams!
Thanks ibarbara24, we appreciate the high praise! Cheers!
Absolutely amazing! This little spot never disappoints if you're looking for the best bivalves, New England clam chowder and lobster roll. Impeccable service, warm and intimate dining environment. You'll definitely need reservations!
Thank you Deborah! You're very kind. I'll pass this along to the team! Cheers, Alex
What a wonderful meal! Tall stack of oysters, clams, crab, smoked mussels and king crab followed by steamed lobster. New England at its best!
Thanks for the compliment! Cheers! Alex
I have a love-hate relationship with B&G. When it is perfect, as it was yesterday, the meal is just so good. My guest from the Midwest was on cloud nine. The lobster rolls were great, as the lobster had been freshly cooked, and the meat was moist and tender. The service was great. Sometimes, the lobster rolls are not nearly as good, with small pieces of meat rather than chunks. The French fries yesterday were superb, but sometimes they are quite forgettable.
I'm glad to hear we were hitting on all cylinders on your last visit! I'll speak with our kitchen team about your feedback. Consistency is very important to us, we'll give attention to the fries and lobster roll. Cheers, Alex
We're glad to hear you enjoyed it. Thanks for saying so! Alex
When a restaurant has a famous chef/owner you expect the food to be special and we were not disappointed. The food was amazing. Lobster salad appetizer was like nothing I’ve ever tasted. Fried oysters were delicious and beautifully presented. Roasted Brussels sprouts side dish was amazing and a generous portion. Halibut was perfectly browned on top but fresh & moist.
I was surprised that B&G felt more like a neighborhood spot than a pricey restaurant.
The wines that I sampled were just OK, expensive but nothing special.
Service was excellent.
they had a particular seating area we requested ready for us and poured us a complimentary glass of pink bubbly. Our server was friendly, efficient, and fun ... and the oysters, octopus, and lobster salad was exquisite.
Glad you had a nice time! The Jansz Tasmanian rosé is one of our wines to pour (and drink ourselves). Cheers! Alex
Service was wonderful & Food was good. Wonderful date night restaurant for seafood lovers.
Lovely as usual.
I only just moved to Boston (from NYC), and this was my first dining experience ... B&G has set the bar and the tone for future Boston dining experience. It happened to be my birthday, and I was treated by my servers (on the sly) to a very yummy chocolate mousse dessert special! I will be returning often!
Again, B&G Oysters has the best fried clams in the world!!! Our friends enjoyed them too! Amazing!!!
Clam chowder was good; however, I was shocked by the portion size of the $30 cod. 😫
Fantastic dinner and experience. Recommended by friends and did not disappoint.
Great food and service. I will definitely visit again!
Delicious fresh oysters. One of my favorite places to go when in town
The service was terrible - waitress went on break and didn’t put in my entire order. Took me 30 minutes to get food and I ordered from the raw bar. I was quite disappointed with this place.
Complimentary Prosecco and desert for our anniversary.
Shorty stack seafood tower was great, allowed us to substitute an item. Lobster bake and halibut were delicious. Great wine menu- Definitely coming back!
one of our favorites!
The food seemed to be not as good as it has been in the past. Still like the restaurant and the atmosphere but was a little disappointed in the quality of the food.
Hi Richard, Sorry to hear we didn't meet the expectations we'd previously set! I'll reach out to you privately, I'd like to hear more about your experience so we can not just meet but exceed your expectations on your next visit. Cheers, Alex
Very small potions for such expensive lunch. was a little surprised as was there 2 years ago and was quite different, that's all
I have very mixed feelings about our dinner at B& G tonight. We had 8 PM reservations, were seated promptly and ordered oyster appetizers and a bottle of rose. Service was pleasant and our dinner arrived quickly. As we were finishing we did not order dessert but were drinking our wine when the waiter asked us to leave at 9:15. It had started raining and they wanted our table to seat diners who were on the patio. We agreed to leave but felt pushed out.
Expect a quick turn over, not a place to relax and unwind even though our bill for 2 was $166 plus tip.
Everything was perfect - the food, service and setting.
We had a lovely late lunch at B&G Oyster. Service was prompt and courteous and the oysters were amazing.
