About B&G Oysters

B&G Oysters is a modern yet classic take on the oyster bar. Located in Boston's South End, B&G Oysters has a decidedly neighborhood feel, combining polished but friendly service with fantastically fresh seafood dishes and food-friendly wines. B&G Oysters has received many accolades over the years for its cuisine and wine program including "Best Seafood" in 2007 and 2008 by Boston Magazine.

This subterranean spot draws energy from its open kitchen which is surrounded by a white marble bar. In warmer weather, enjoy drinks and more on the stone patio; a favorite outdoor dining spot in the city. Please note that all reservations are for the interior of the restaurant. Our patio is available solely on a walk-in basis.

Fabulous Fried Oysters! Only downside was the lack of parking. Nearby garage full and no valet until 4:00 pm. Took us 45 minutes to find a space, call Uber, and get back to the restaurant after finally finding a spot at the Commons Garage.

Visiting Boston for the weekend. Had received several recommendations to try this Barbara Lynch staple. Was not disappointed. Oysters were fresh and wine pairings on point. Service was excellent as well.

We went to B&G for our anniversary - they didn’t miss a beat. The maître d' greeted us with a congrats and gave us a great table with an option to sit together on the same side. Followed by 2 complimentary glasses of bubbly by our waitress. Oysters were amazing as well as our meal. After we declined dessert, they bought us one anyway with a candle...which of course we finished. Thank you B&G for making our occasion an even more special one.

I shouldn’t write this because it may work against me. I love eating at the bar at B&G Oysters. The staff is friendly and it’s fun to watch the preparations and cooking. The food is always great. They are very nice to the gluten free, too.

Oysters were very fresh and I had a whole lobster that was very tasty but small. Needed to order a side since the corn accompanying the lobster was minuscule. The blue cod with Brussels sprouts was very good. Service was attentive

Over priced and over hyped. Interior well worn. Average lobster roll for $32. You can do as well or better at Legal Seafood in terms of quality and value. Expected far better from Barbara Lynch.

Charming restaurant tucked in the basement of a South End brownstone. The food is fresh, carefully prepared and delicious. It is not, however, a quiet spot. Be prepared for a loud conversation.

The cold lobster roll was good. The hot version was just way too much butter, bread super soggy. Not great flavor. Wouldn't recommend it.

Always a blast to sit at the bar and watch the uber talented chefs work - plus seeing the oysters get shucked right there is fascinating. Love the work that goes into the food - all lovingly prepared with the freshest and highest quality ingredients. Can't miss dining in Boston!

Branzino was fantastic. Great to have attentive service, waitstaff who know wine, and excellent cuisine. Wish we had requested to be outside, it's very very noisy when full. We'll be back again.

Quite disappointed. Prices were very high for lunch. For the price they charged the food and service should have been flawless. Unfortunately as a seafood bar, seafood came over cooked and was OK. Would not recommend

Oysters are great, but pricey. Chowder was delicious and loaded with clams. Nice local IPA available as well. Table for two was jammed in next to the host's stand, not the best set up. Energetic small space in a neighborhood venue.

Thoroughly enjoyed our lunch here where we were keen to have lobster which was delicious. It was recommended to us and we would recommend it to others. We could not book at night but it was easy to get in for lunch when it was not crowded.

The Lobster BLT without Bacon was $35!! Lobster rolls fresh & yummy all over Boston and New England can be had for $16-20!! They ripped us off badly. Have eaten there many times in the past. Last time! Outside @ 86 on porch/Lanai is quite fab. Not worth these stupid prices!

I've been to B&G several times. I recommend it and enjoy it. That said, it doesn't appear the menu changes very often (I don't live in Boston). The next time I'm in town and want seafood, I'll probably try somewhere else for variation.

Butter-Poached Lobster was the best lobster I've ever had. Perfectly cooked. Crispy Red Snapper very good.
I called to confirm directions and they called me back in 15minutes to make sure we didn't need further instruction. Friday early evening traffic, I'll sue Uber the next time instead of driving and parking.

First visit to B&G and we enjoyed the evening very much. We sat at the counter/bar and watched the food prep. We were also treated to a complimentary fried oyster which was very good. We both had lobster rolls because it was our first. The greeting, service and food were all excellent. Next time we travel to Boston we'll go back to B&G.

Main courses were excellent - whole bronzino and seared scallops. My one complain was that the appetizers were over-priced. $17 for heirloom tomatoes and burrata?

The sunken back "deck" is great when the weathers nice.

Bill was near $100 pp, price creeps up on you!

Great:
- Oysters
- Heirloom tomato / burrata / watermelon salad
- Croquettes

Good:
- Lobster gnocchi - fine nothing special
- Fried clams - hard to go wrong

Skip:
- Rock shrimp ceviche (verryyyy small portion)
