Boston Marathon post race favorite! Love the seafood tower with minion sauce. See you next year!
B&G is a hip spot for an expensive seafood dinner. The waitstaff was attentive and knowledgeable. Portions are on the small side based on the cost. Food was delicious.
Consistently amazing food, high quality ingredients and creative preparation. The oysters are the best in Boston.
Fried oysters delicious with homemade tarter sauce. The cod was perfectly roasted and served with tasty vegetables and parsnip purée...whenever I’m in town it’s my first stop.
Favorite restaurant in Boston for years.
Wine and oyster pairing the best anywhere. Super knowledgeable staff that will direct you right.
Seated early, 5:15 on a Tuesday, only 10% full. Great service, small room. Kitchen prep viewable if you like that. Not formal, casual but neat. Could be romantic. Good wine service. Highly revommed for a couple.
I love to hit B&G for lunch. Less of a scene during the day so I am able to have conversation in a comfortable place. It can be quite a scene at night. An incredible wine list supported by a very knowledgeable staff. Everything on the menu is great and of course there is the selection of oysters from across the country. You can't go wrong here if you want delicious seafood, great service, and good ambiance.
Had an amazing time dining here with family. The food was amazing and the oysters exceptional.
2 of their 5 entrees were unavailable on a weekend before 1pm. That simply is unacceptable. No comps to make up for it. Hard to recover from that.
For the most part dinner was excellent and the food was delicious and well done.
Dinner started off poorly as I chipped a tooth on a piece of shell in the first oyster I had. This is the first time I have had this size a piece of shell in an oyster.
Pretty good dine out lunch, i had crab cake blt and hamachi.... colleague had lobster roll. Wish its served warm. Love both blt and hamachi, with dessert will be yummy ! We also shared chef oyster , big yum !
We celebrated our 35th anniversary with a trip to Boston and wanted to experience Barbara Lynch place......Food was wonderful but a bit pricey for lunch and tough finding parking and getting around with a cane.
Impressive wine menu. Octopus appetizer a must try! Tender and delicious. Gnocchi with calamari entree was delicious packed with flavor in every bite.
Those fried oysters! 😍😍😍
We were all tourists and visiting Boston for the first time. We were sampling a number of Oyster Bars and B&G certainly was one of the best. It had an old time diner vibe with plenty of energy. They had a selection of 12 different oysters and we sampled a bunch of them. The main meals included lobster roll, cod and ciopino. All were good. The selection of beers had one for every taste and the wine list had a decent Spatlese. Our server was patience personified as we kept chopping and changing. We would definitely recommend.
We googled ”best lobster roll in Boston” and that's how we found B&G. We were both very pleased with the meal, consisting of one lobster roll each plus a couple of oysters. Service was friendly and efficient.
B&G Oysters is always a fun dining experience. We love the casual and open kitchen atmosphere where you can watch oysters being shucked, your fish being seared and the good natured attitude of the staff. The seafood is always fresh and of the highest quality and a selection of oysters of all types.
This is a great neighborhood restaurant that serves locals more than tourists. The oysters are especially wonderful with a great choice of different sources and flavors. They may have the best clam chowder I’ve ever tasted! After 2 tries,
I do not recommend the pricey lobster roll due to the dryness and bland flavor. If you have to have it,
I do recommend adding a healthy dollop of mayonnaise which you can ask for. The wasit staff are very helpful with good recommendations.
We came to eat before the Theatre. The food was delicious. During the meal we kept adding to our order when we would see meals pass by. Our waitress was engaging, attentive, smart and personable. Service was prompt and not pressured. We really like coming here. Though we are from out of town it has a neighborhood feel. Our table overlooked the food prep area and we were impressed how pleasant and careful the cooks were. The B&G shucker should give lessons - amazing to watch him make it look so effortless!
Love this place! Oysters were excellent cod was delicious squid, octopus and gnocchi so good. Our server Andre was helpful personable and a great guy. We plan to be regulars.
Met a wicked smart, witty (and super cute) woman - I'll call her Joanne - here for lu-nner (brunch's superior cousin). I jabbered on nervously... As I tend to do. Overall, great experience ... Some smiles, good conversation, solid oysters and healthy pours of wine (thank goodness). I'd totally go back to learn how to shuck if given the chance (sounds fun, right?!). I'd also consider something totally different (yes ... even brunch). Maybe I'll dash out of the car less rudely, even. Ball is in her court now.
Delicious seafood and good service. Way too loud. We were there on a Thursday night and the noise was so loud that we could barely talk at our own table. The noise is the only thing that would keep us away from this really cute restaurant.
Came here with a friend for dinner. Kids in the corner were ridiculously loud and we were seated right by the door so we got constant whooping of cold air every time someone came in or out. Really fresh oysters but tiny portions for other food for the price.
Food and service was outstanding we will become regulars
Saturday night date. The place is small, loud and crowded. Portions are small and overpriced. Ordered several courses but we still left hungry. Wine list is extensive but they only offer a couple of options by the half bottle or carafe, so ordering wine is extremely expensive. We won’t be back.
Very surprised at the quality of the food that was able to be produced from such a small kitchen. Cute and quaint little spot, will definitely be back.
B & G is a staple when we visit Boston. Oyster varieties change often with availability and sampling is part of the experience. Menu is creative and quality/prep are tops. Wine and beer list has something for everyone and drinks well. Open kitchen is a plus as we always choose to sit at the counter. Highly recommend.
Food was great but pricey for the portion. Wines by the glass limited.
Had several recommendations to go there. Small casual restaurant but did not feel crowded (make a reservation!). Excellent oysters, and did try the fried oysters which were also excellent - not greasy and nice sauce. Entrees had great flavors. Service was very good. Would definitely go again.
Excellent oysters. The best since I was there last time! Always fresh and innovative Fish dishes. The Fried clams and oysters were incredible. Never had a bad meal at B&G Oyster Bar!
Arrival to departure, everything was delicious.
It was really great! Food was delicious. Got the scallops and my fiance got the cod. Couldn't recommend it more.
We are never disappointed, always start with a dozen on the half shell, but the first time I was talked into trying the fried oysters, I thought, "sacrilege!", but boy was I glad I did.
Oysters were awesome !
First visit here, great selection of oysters! Loved the food, service was over the top.
We hadn't been here in about 10 years, and was happy to see it still open and somewhat busy on a Thursday night. Our waiter was great, helpful with wine list, and attentive. The menu was somewhat limited, however, and the prices pretty steep for what you got. Each dish was a tad less than satisfying, except maybe the lobster blt, which was huge, piled with crispy french fries, and a good option to split. The oysters were DELICIOUS, ice cold, perfectly shucked and presented. So I would choose this spot as a first stop, have a glass of cold white wine or bubbles with some delicious oysters, and then move on for dinner.
We had a wonderful time at B&G Oysters! While it is pricey, this is the perfect place for a special occasion/date night. The raw fare was excellent, as well as the lobster roll and fried clams. Great wine selection and intimate venue was also part of the fun.
Everything was fine, but nothing exceptional.
Oysters as always were terrific! Main courses were mediocre. Scallops were nicely done but accompaniments were blah and the squash was undercooked. The seafood stew lacked oomph.
Never disappoints! Fish is fresh, staff lovely, wine choices superb! We never miss an opportunity to dine at B&G!
One of my very favorites, can come here weekly. Always great ambience and creative dishes. I love being able to watch the chefs- every seat in this restaurant has views into the kitchen.
