This wasn’t my favorite, unfortunately. The octopus was too chewy and over cooked.
Good food, but quite expensive for what you got. Noisy and seats very close together. Service pretty good.
B & G is our go-to place for dinner when we have tickets to shows at the Calderwood Theater. We've also brought friends there on other occasions.
This visit, as usual, service was attentive, champagne and wine chilled and delicious, food excellent. We had oysters, lobster bisque, the halibut and the branzino. Honestly this place would be perfect if only they brought back their pea pod salad--that is hands down the best salad I've ever had. (Don't bother with the green they offer to appease patrons who want salad--it's not exciting.) Overall a great experience.
One of my favorite restaurants. Always take out of town guests here!
As always the raw Oyster selection was terrific, but also as always, an order of the fried oysters is a must. The Salmon en Papillote (in parchment paper) was spectacular. With great service, we’re never disappointed.
Overall, I would rate our experience ~3. The service was subpar, the waiter only came by to ask us for our orders and when we were finished... otherwise he did not come to refill a glass, ask if we wanted more wine, etc. I was especially disappointed with the food this visit. The peppers were bland and thrown on a plate with tasteless dipping sauce. The lobster BLT was good, but it lacked creativity. Lastly, the halibut had a frothy paste under it that tasted like old cauliflower. There was minimal seasoning on the fish and the veggies plated on it were even less to rave about. I will say, the wine was good.... but given the prices of their dishes and the lack of taste and excitement to the actual food, we won’t be coming back and we won’t be recommending it to friends.
Not going into detail. Just awesome. Barbara Lynch is a goddess.
Excellent food and service; very pleasant staff.
Good food and great service. This was a biz dinner. Unfortunately, it’s a bit too noisy. The location is excellent to try different places before/after dinner.
I love this restaurant. Great food, service and nice casual feeling vibe. It’s one of our favorites in Boston.
Excellent food and service, especially outside! We had a beautiful day and our waiter was spectacular as was the food. I recommend heavily for a restaurant in the South End
My wife and i had a fabulous dinner at B and G Oysters!
Great seafood and fun atmosphere. We enjoyed every dish we ordered.
You can never go wrong with B & G. The wine list is second to none. Seafood is always on point. Tried the charred octopus last time: every bite was pure ecstasy.
Fried oysters were delicate and juicy. Raw oysters were amazing. Corsican white wine pairing suggestion was excellent. Perfect evening on the patio!
B&G sets the standard for oysters! We are from Long Island and every time we are in Boston we make it a point to go to B&G!
They have the best assortment of oysters! They have the best shucker... Bernarda, who shucks then without a trace of shell and expertly retains the pure oyster liquor! AND, the oysters are of the highest quality! They taste as if they have been picked that day. Hilary and Nicholas are there to answer questions about the size and taste nuances of the various oysters.
We have been to many, if not all of the oyster speciality restaurants in the city of Boston and B&G literally blows them out of the water. We LOVE B&G and we only wish we lived closer!!!!
Great oysters, scallops, lobster rolls. Reasonable and varied wine list to accomadate food. Great evening.
B&G has a good selection of oysters, we had 8 varieties, four from MA and RI and four from the West coast. I also had the fried clams which were very good.
I have been here three or four times which is not bad for a guy from Sydney, Australia! I think it is the best oyster bar in Boston and there is a lot of competition! I think I have been to all the competitors but this one is small, has style and has a boutique quality about it! And the oysters are great! Excellent wine list so go and enjoy! I shall be back next year! Harvard and B&G Oysters - how can I stay away!
First time at B&G and were blown away - from the friendly greeting to the last bite of dessert. What at the bar so we got to see the chefs in action. Great skill and precision! I want to go back as soon as possible.
It is one of the best kept secrets of Boston at a really wonderful place to go if you want to charming nail
B&G is always terrific - very good food and the staff is friendly without being in your face too much. The size of the place always makes you feel like you are one of the regulars - which I am slowly becoming!
Half of the menu was sold out. The table was super bright (not exactly the great ambiance I expected) and the smoked mussels we had were pretty gross. The fried oysters themselves were fine, but were served on top of way too much sauce. The restaurant was even out of lettuce and 2 out of the 5 or so entrees were sold out. We ended up leaving after those few apps. I was very disappointed
Amazing food and service !
Oysters were great, both raw and fried. However, limited sides. In fact, no green vegetables. My granddaughter is trying to eliminate dairy and there was little for her to choose from, including no deserts.
We were looking for seafood for a friend from the Midwest who rarely had any. Specifically we wanted shellfish and a lobster roll. For shellfish we got a sampler with three layers of assorted shellfish: little necks, cherry stones, mussels, crab, oysters, octopus, and I'm probably forgetting one or two. They were flavorful and she loved them. We followed with her lobster roll and our gnocchi with calamari which was fabulous. Except for the parking ticket which we deserved (not a lot of on-street parking near the restaurant) the evening was perfect. Highly recommend, but get reservations, it's a fairly small place.
Food was subpar compared to price. Much better oyster bars in town.
The food was great, just wish I had a little bit more of a selection, especially during lunch hours. But the Fried Oysters are to die for, wish the servings size for the appetizer was just a few more pieces. Delicious though!
Excellent food albeit a little pricey. $32 for the lobster roll. You get what you pay for though! This was an excellent lobster roll, lots of lobster, very small amount of mayo that tasted more like it was tarragon aioli, generous portion of house made pickles, cole slaw, and delicious fries. Wine was also incredible and oysters were on point.
Not surprisingly, B&G has oysters. Lots of them. All of which we tried. All of which were very fresh and delicious. From raw bar to fried, it all was top-notch. As were the other items we sampled. And the service was pitch-perfect. The atmosphere/ambiance are a bit downscale, but comfortable. I'd return in a heartbeat.
Boston Marathon post race favorite! Love the seafood tower with minion sauce. See you next year!
B&G is a hip spot for an expensive seafood dinner. The waitstaff was attentive and knowledgeable. Portions are on the small side based on the cost. Food was delicious.
Consistently amazing food, high quality ingredients and creative preparation. The oysters are the best in Boston.
Fried oysters delicious with homemade tarter sauce. The cod was perfectly roasted and served with tasty vegetables and parsnip purée...whenever I’m in town it’s my first stop.
Favorite restaurant in Boston for years.
Wine and oyster pairing the best anywhere. Super knowledgeable staff that will direct you right.
Seated early, 5:15 on a Tuesday, only 10% full. Great service, small room. Kitchen prep viewable if you like that. Not formal, casual but neat. Could be romantic. Good wine service. Highly revommed for a couple.
I love to hit B&G for lunch. Less of a scene during the day so I am able to have conversation in a comfortable place. It can be quite a scene at night. An incredible wine list supported by a very knowledgeable staff. Everything on the menu is great and of course there is the selection of oysters from across the country. You can't go wrong here if you want delicious seafood, great service, and good ambiance.
Had an amazing time dining here with family. The food was amazing and the oysters exceptional.
2 of their 5 entrees were unavailable on a weekend before 1pm. That simply is unacceptable. No comps to make up for it. Hard to recover from that.
For the most part dinner was excellent and the food was delicious and well done.
Dinner started off poorly as I chipped a tooth on a piece of shell in the first oyster I had. This is the first time I have had this size a piece of shell in an oyster.
