This is my neighborhood go-to place - always cordial, fun, cozy, friendly, with an excellent kitchen preparing a short but very diverse menu. Good small wine list, fusion-American, locivore feel, charming!
Something has changed in the kitchen. Our meals were sub-par in relation to previous visits. The English muffin was half a muffin, soggy, topped with only one egg, not two. My wife felt her breakfast meal was not up to standard. I hope this nice restaurant hangs around and gets its act together.
We had gone here before and loved it, so we came back. We were disappointed the menu changed and was no longer the small interesting plates from before, but what we did get, was really good. And the server was really helpful with our Vegan friend.
Put this restaurant on your "do not miss" list for Baltimore! In the lovely Bolton Hill neighborhood, food amazing and my fabulous server Ali got every wine pairing suggestion spot on.
Great place to grab a casual yet upscale bite with a friend.
Seems like the staff and chef continue to change, every time we visit it is different.
While the food slightly better than average, the meal was ruined by the slow and poor service. The worst part of the evening was the comfortably hot dinning area and the female wait staff who insisted upon leaving the door open further adding to the heat.
A pleasant evening, outside seating and superior food. What more could you ask for?
My wife had the Scallops with linguini and I had the Pasta Bolognese. A serious comfort food night.
b. Bistro has become one of our favorite restaurants and, once again, it didn't disappoint.
We love the restaurant normally but Not for restaurant week. We didn't even know it was restaurant week when we went but were dissapointed that it was. In theory restaurant week sounds like a good idea but a restaurant like B bistro with its limited but usually delicious options should not have been part of it. I look forward to dining again when it is not restaurant week.
We are very familiar with this restaurant and decided to visit it again for restaurant week. They have great menu options for $30 and we had a fun evening.
Caprese salad was great .. very tasty tomatoes! Excellent lasagna and really enjoyed the grilled shrimp risotto. A wonderful outdoor dining experience.
As a charming neighborhood restaurant, b always provides good food and a decent wine list, but service can be erratic. Tonight our wait-woman forgot one of two salad orders and then completely misplaced our wine order. She was pleasant, but disorganized.
We were not impressed, the quality of the food was ok but nothing special.
The crab cakes were disappointing and the bolognese very average.
What a disappointment.! This is probably the 8th or 9th time I've been - way different experience than before. Boring menu, bland and dry food, pasta w/ crab (should have been listed as without). The Caesar salad had very little if any dressing and was so dry I had trouble swallowing, the pasta had no sauce nor any embellishments, just beige. Obviously word has gotten out- when we left at our usual time there were only 3 tables filled while in the past it has been packed with people waiting when we leave. I understand this is a new chef: I think it's time to get rid of him if this place wants to be saved,
My wife and I had a early dinner at this charming little bistro before a movie. Located in a historic tree lined Baltimore neighborhood, it is close to downtown and theatres. The service was prompt, helpful and polite. My wife's homemade vegetable lasagna was delicious as was my crab cake. There are local veggies, a very good wine list and a selection of fine craft beers. We loved it and will come again.
The food at bBistro never disappoints. I treated my husband for his birthday on a Friday evening. Although it had been a hot day, sitting outside was very pleasant, even breezy. Our server Samantha was attentive, patient as we changed our order a couple of times. We shared a nice bottle of Montepulciano, caprese salad. My order arrived with perfectly seared scallops with avocado salsa, mashed potatoes and zucchini; my husband enjoyed his seafood stew. We ended our meal with Tark Brother's ice cream and coffee. The restaurant was not crowded like usual, probably because it was a holiday weekend. We hope to dine here more often. Although the menu is limited, the food quality rivals Woodberry.
We had an early reservation 6:30 and were seated promptly. Staff were friendly and helpful. Specials were good; we could hear each other. A very pleasant experience for an anniversary.
b is the pleasant neighborhood restaurant everyone should have. The menu is interesting and varied and the prices at least for entrees quite reasonable. We especially enjoyed the warm blondie with caramel sauce and ice cream. Outstanding! I would not drive far to visit b but if in the neighborhood, it would be a fine choice.
Delicious dinner and it was half-price wine night as an extra bonus!
I had caprese salad with balsamic reduction and a tasty fried polenta. The table had calamari, sweetbreads and a fried dill chicken with sides of dill mashed potatoes and asparagus. Everything was good. We had a good spot to sit and talk. Overall tops!
New menu featuring local foods and more tasting plates is very good.
I love B, have been going for years and went on a date last Friday and the food was excellent. The only thing that was annoying and very uncharacteristic of the place was that we were practically forced out. We had an 8 PM reservation and a little after 9:30 when we still had a full glass of wine left each from the bottle we had ordered, the waiter handed me the check and said "no rush, but here's the check." 5 minutes later he came back to get it and I hadn't even looked at it yet. This occurred again a few minutes later. I know Baltimore is not New York, but to be basically pressured out the door by 10 PM on a Friday is laughable and quite frankly rude. I still love B, I will be back, we had a great meal and good wine, but I was truly shocked at the way the staff made us feel pressured to leave.
Special oysters were great , however Med rare burger was served med. fries greasy .
Dined inside flies were congregated around window . Some in my party won't give it another try
Food was just so so. Very disappointed with quality and value.
I still really like this local spot BUT feel the menu or chef has changed. We had a 7:45 reservation and they had already run out of a few items from their already limited menu. The chicken was "ok" but deep-fried, not my first choice. The Caesar and tomato stack salads were disappointing. Would not rush back until they make some changes. Staff is very nice.
I've always loved b, but it surpassed itself Thursday evening. My local family and I were celebrating, doubly so because its newest member, a sweet little pit bull, was so happy there under the lovely evening sky. We all had a superb time. Fab wait staff!
One of our neighborhood favorites. My wife needed a break from cooking so we made a last minute reservation. I had mussels and frittes. My wife had chicken. Took the NY strip to go for our son. B-Bistro is a great value, great food, and convenient. Have never been disappointed.
We have been to B-Bistro many times before and were a little disappointed in the food: blander and small portions than remembered.
Everything else was up to snuff and very enjoyable
I like this place. I like it a lot. Or I did until my most recent meal there. The restaurant is small so it is hard for the wait staff not to see you. Yet after being seated we waited for water then waited for menus. I was excited that wahoo was a special that day. We waited to order. My two companions ordered entrees only. I ordered a risotto appetizer and said my wife and I would split it. I also ordered the wahoo and repeated my self to make it clear I wanted both. We waited for our meals. We waited for the risotto. When our food was served I got only the risotto. I realized they forgot my entree if they served the risotto with my companions food.
Everything was tasty. We all enjoyed our meal. We thought we'd have dessert and coffee. But by the time they took our plates and asked about dessert we just wanted to get out of there. We waited for the cheque.
I'd go there again but not in the near future. Hopefully the service will improve by then
I've beeen to b many times and always went back because the food was so good and the service was great. This time it was like a different restaurant. Service was bad, the wrong food came out at the wrong times. The food was not nearly as good as previously and it took forever. Maybe it was a new server and a new chef or it was just a bad night. I will go back one more time to see how it goes, but this time I was very disappointed.
We have been to b over a dozen times and have never had a bad meal - until this visit. It was an absolute mess. Most disappointing was the food. The quality was mediocre, but the proportions of different ingredients were disastrous. We had salads that were 75% pecans and 25% greens. The same principle applied to the entrees, and the presentations were visually unappealing. The service was also slow and not particularly attentive; we were there for a really long time. In their defense, we were told that they're transitioning between menus, but, still. It was not a good experience, and it wasn't inexpensive. Despite their prior track record, I doubt we'll go back.
A bit disorganized with a new chef changing up the printed menu and 86ing a couple of items. Servers seemed to be playing zone rather than man... but still a great experience in a surprisingly uncrowded Saturday-peak-time place in one of the city's loveliest neighborhoods. Visiting guests were happy and impressed. Been here before and will return.
it was a delight, as always. the food was a terrific end to a great afternoon with friends. The food and the service are always spot on!
Asked for a "good table" for a special date -- got a great table, great food, great service and a great date.
It was a delightful brunch...the portions were extremely generous (leftovers for sure), the atmosphere was nice and loved the surroundings. A bit noisy inside but the staff was wonderful!
We went back to give it a second chance after receiving poor service on our last visit. Received poor service and were not told about the prefixed menu for Mother's Day. My mom is gluten intolerant and the only option she could get was a parfait.
Delicious brunch for Mother's Day. Small, select menu but food was terrific (as usual) and sizes were ample. Didn't feel rushed to turn table over, which was particularly appreciated on a packed and hectic day.
Nice people. Handy place to go if you are in the area and not on a tight schedule. Food ok. Not the same level of food and service as several years back when it first made the Baltimore Magz Top 50 a couple of years in a row. During mid-week days menu items are sometimes unavailable; last Thursday they had no Soup of the Day. How does a restaurant, particularly a Bistro, manage not to have a soup of the day? Stay away from house wines, homemade sausages, cheese plates, and brunch. Pre Fixe menu, a good value, includes some of their best menu items.
We go here often because we live nearby. Food is always good and the ambiance is usually relaxed and pleasant. Mussels and frites are a special one week night, and half-priced wine on another; what's not to like?
Great brunch as usual! This is definitely my go-to in Baltimore for a laid-back and elegant brunch.
The restaurant is a very nice neighborhood bistro. The menu has a nice variety of choices. They w ere not prepared for the amount of people who showed up for dinner. (Two local theaters having events at the same time). They ran out of their fish before 6:30. Beet salad was very good, mussels were also very good and the kitchen accommodated a special request. It would have been nice if all the meals were served. One dinner never came and the waitress brought a courtesy dessert to make up for the error. Dinner would have been preferred.
If you're going to go to this restaurant, make sure there are no special events in the area that evening. The food is goood, but the dining experience might be better.
