I love Azzurro! Food and staff are great! I've never had a bad meal here and it's always got a friendly ambiance.
We had a very enjoyable lunch. Thanks for helping us to create nice memories for the birthday celebration. The food was delicious.
Azzurro is our go-to spot when someone comes in from out of town. We love the quality of the service, the high caliber of the food, and the elegant, yet relaxed setting. The other night Mary served us beautifully and was so patient with us ~ especially with my Dad who is hard of hearing. The staff go above and beyond and oftentimes anticipate your needs. Very classy place with yummy food.
Service and the food outstanding as always. Tortellini Azzuro was excellent!
Due to the fact I have been going to Azzurros for many years, I am fortunate to know many of the staff and that makes the dining experience most enjoyable. My wife and I had a very nice evening.
Service was great. We had no complaints there. The food however was greatly lacking. I ordered chicken risotto, which was a special. The chicken was overcooked and the dish had a fishy taste overall. My husband ordered another special which was rockfish, salmon and another fish that I cannot remember. The rockfish was gray in color and did not taste good. The salmon was tasty. I expect the house special to be above expectations. There was absolutely nothing outstanding about any of our dishes.
Sad and disappointed
Very broad food menu with a lot of options. Food and service was incredible. Would highly recommend and will be going back to try more entrees.
Our first visit was not what we expected for what we paid for our meal. The soup appetizer was potato & leek and it was cold - got the veal and the lobster stuffed ravioli and both were cold - potatoes with the veal was cold and the broccoli was hard. Ravioli was cold as well. Now, the DESERT was OUTSTANDING. The service was wonderful and the ambiance was beautiful - for those 2 reasons I would recommend this restaurant to a friend but for the food no. We will try one more time coming there to eat - maybe we were just there on an off nite.
Lunch was awesome! I met a great friend that I hadn’t seen in over a year he was friendly, professional, patient ;-) as we talked for a while before ordering, will be back!!!
I have been an occasional patron of Azzurro for many years. The atmosphere is delightful but on this occasion the food was disappointing. We both had the specials of the day and while good, they were not of the outstanding quality that the restaurant and the price would have suggested. They were out of the wine we ordered as well. The service was outstanding however.
The salmon was the best ever! My guests and I loved eating outside!
Was there for lunch and we are never disappointed! Always a perfect place for an elegant lunch or dinner.
Last several times we have been in they have been out of major menu items and favorites such as lasagna. Walk-in cooler failure. Risotto half cooked even after sending back once. Clearly someone is not minding the store. Sad because this used to be well-managed but has been going down gradually and has just about hit rock bottom!
Surprised that some good wait staff is still around because it must be very embarrassing for them to face the customers.
Good food & nice ambiance. Server was attentive but it did seem to take a little for my cocktail arrive after ordering. It wasn't too busy of a night so perhaps that's why I was pleasantly surprised to find the noise level not nearly as loud as other reviews mentioned. Overall - it was a pleasant experience.
Consistently good food and wonderful service. One of my favorite restaurants!
Service was slow. Temperature was too warm. Food was very good
Good food and service, nice wine selection, good portions for the price of the meals.
My tortellini- a favorite was disappointing. Peas were hard and dry and the overall dish wasn’t as flavorful- missing a pinch of nutmeg? My friend LOVED the veal with cognac cream sauce. I had a taste- fabulous! I’ll be back.
No food and service were excellent. There was not a dish we ordered we didn’t enjoy. It will definitely be back soon.
We really enjoy sitting on the patio and it was much quieter there than it is inside. We shared a salad and the waiter had the kitchen split it for us, which was nice. Our entrees were all delivered correctly. Our leftovers were delivered wrong, so that we got our friend’s very expensive lobster pasta special and his wive’s chicken, and they got ours, which was frustrating. We were also given the wrong checks, and both wer upside down! The dinner was good, but not as good as usual. We’ll still try it again, since it is a favorite of ours.
As always, a most pleasant dining experience. Look forward to returning.
I would go here only for a salad and drinks. pasta was gummy and overcooked ...The fish was not fresh
and had a funny color. Great room, help was ok but Chef needs to buy an Italian cookbook.
2nd time on the patio that no server acknowledged our existence for more than 15min in a not busy environment...same excuse ‘I’m sorry I didn’t realize that you were my table...’ #hospitality? ... vibe likely comes from management
Great food. Noise level is always too loud. Can not hear the person across from you
I had the beet and mixed green salad with no dressing as I do not like sweet dressings, which accompanied this salad. The salad was very good. I enjoyed sitting outdoors. I prefer northern Italian cuisine and find the offering at Azzurro American Italian, with a southern Italian leaning. I do like the Caesar salad with salmon.
Food was good. Abundant pasta. Our waiter was not attentive and had to be waived at to get service.
Service very slow. Very noisy. Hhhhhhhbbbbbhhhhhbbb

We all really enjoyed our dinner. Pasta
I LOVE Azzurro! The food is superb and the ambiance is relaxing. The waitstaff is attentive. Need I say more?
The best Italian in Richmond!
Great ffggghhffffg was the first time to be around the world I love yyyyyyy this is a little
Fun atmosphere and great service. But food doesn’t live up to the quality of the ambiance and space. The bread was generic, the pasta not very flavorful. The caprese salad had little flavor too. It’s August and tomatoes should be delicious and they were just generic grocery store variety. The mozzarella was also just bland. That salad should have been fantastic this time of year. The cuisine is not up to par. But a lovely place.
Food was good but service was not good and the ambiance was hampered by it being too loud and crowded.

Very simple review here
A very nice neighborhood Italian spot.
My wife and I sat outside and had a fabulous meal. Everything was perfect from the ambiance, the service and the food
This restaurant is mere minutes from our home and through the years we have always gone there. The interior and exterior patio are perfectly lovely and the wait staff is always courteous and kind. They simply are resting on their laurels, however. The scalloped potatoes and broccoli which OFTEN are the side dishes are not creative or very tasty. These are not difficult dishes to execute with perfection after repeatedly serving them. The fish entree on this occasion was sub par. This location is one where neighborhood folks have dined in fine restaurants and have food sensibility. I want to love going there, but unless I'm just having an appetizer at the bar at happy hour, I am often disappointed and feel that I overpaid for mediocrity.
Wonderful time. Great food and service!
While the bartender made an excellent Manhattan and the food was good. ...the service was slow. At times we felt forgotten.
We previously lived in Italy. Unfortunately the price to quality ratio doesn’t match up here. We had apps and main course but skipped dessert due to not caring for the food. Veal dish, which did not appear to be freshly cooked as it arrived lukewarm, was swimming in a large quantity of greasy, bland sauce. The accompanying Twice Baked potato was cool and seemingly pre-made then served up much later as cheese was hardened, not soft and melted, and the potato itself was also cool. Mussels in saffron broth lacked flavor and the mussels themselves were over cooked. The fried calamari was good and served hot. Service was attentive, particularly the young man who refilled our water glasses. Won’t be returning though due to the food which doesn’t measure up, particularly considering the prices of apps and main courses.
Great evening entertaining family from out of town.
