It was great except the hostess did not check me in on Open Table and that caused an unnecessary problem!
Our waiter - Victor - was amazing and really made this a fun meal with friends. However the food was just so so which was a huge disappointment as everything sounded so delicious per the menu and Victor's descriptions. The best items were the cocktails and the bread "program" which was very impressive. But bread really should not have been the meal highlight.
We stayed at the hotel for one night and booked a reservation for our one year wedding anniversary and notated it was our anniversary in the booking. Most high end restaurants will acknowledge when it’s someone’s anniversary but we received no acknowledgement even though I’ve seen reviews where other people’s anniversary was acknowledged at this restaurant.
The food was either overly spiced or not seasoned enough (no happy middle). The tuna tar tar had strange fatty skin pieces I’ve never seen before at any other restaurant (this definitely should have been cut off prior to serving).
I think this restaurant really needs to evaluate their chefs, menu, and service if they want to remain high end at high end prices. For such a high end restaurant I’ve never been served such poor tasting food before. Service was not specialized in any kind of way.
Service was slow and the room was cold. Food was pretty good but not great.
Cocktails poorly mixed. Sauces were scanty. Unimpressed for the price. Waitstaff was excellent.
My girlfriend went there for dinner as an impromptu date. We had never eaten here before, but we enjoy fine dining. We were blown away. The manager was amazing, bringing my girlfriend different wines to just try so she could find one she likes. The food was amazing, the presentation was perfect. And mind you, we showed up to the restaraunt at 9:00 pm... And we got the same service we would have received at 6:00pm. And that speaks volumes about a restaurant. Definitely going to be going here regularly now.
Business meal at One Ocean. Food is very good as well as service. Place was fairly empty for a Thursday night meal which actually helped with our dinner conversation - very quiet. My favorite fish place at the beach is Eleven South - Azurea is very good but not quite up to the standards set by Eleven South.
Valentine’s Day dinner was beautiful and tasteful 5 course dinner.
Waited a half hour for food. Never saw original waitress after she took the order.
Manager was so upset he did not charge me
Azurea is close to our home and I chose to have my birthday dinner there on Monday evening. We had four people in our party and everyone got some kind of seafood. We started with salads we shared which were very fresh with light vinaigrette. I had asked for gluten free options in my reservation and the restaurant was very accommodating with this issue. Although we didn’t ask for bread our server Hannah brought it out including a gluten free basket. The best part of this was all the spreads they serve with the bread. There were some fabulous deserts along with a tray of truffles to pass around. Decaf cappuccino was a perfect close. Hannah was so accommodating and made the night a special occasion .
Victor was our server, he really made our night. He offered great suggestions, catered to our needs and treated us like we were old friends. I would go back just for the service!
This was fine dining with great service from reservations to seating to food quality and the whole experience was wonderful. Inventive and unusual food combinations that were superb.
The bar staff and our waiter Victor were amazing. The fillet was way over cooked though. Food was overpriced for the execution and quality.
Walked through the blue tunnel to a beautiful dining room. The restaurant is for foodies - lots of chef extras, including chocolates at the end of the meal. Loved the house specialty sea bass. Wine was wonderful. Overall an exceptional dining experience.
We picked the restaurant for our anniversary dinner. The food and service were excellent, very pleased with our dinner.
The disappointment of the evening was the noise level. The lounge is next to the dining area and there is nothing blocking the noise and it was very loud in the bar that night.
Excellent food and service! Victor was our waiter and we were delighted that he was on our anniversary. He made it an even more special evening 😊
One of my favorite restaurants in Jax. A little energetic tonight and on the weekends. Love the bar area and the vibe.
The noise level is very high. The meal was mixed, the tomato salad was not very good as the tomatoes were not ripe and hard. The rest of the meal was very good. However my credit card was charged 3 times and I have yet to receive a call back from the manager.
Azurea is a very special place. Outstanding food. Really great service. Lots of little extras. Love it!
Excellent service and really good food on NYE 2017-2018. I flagged my difficult allergies with the restaurant during booking and all waiters were prepared and organised my pairing menu accordingly. My group of 4 enjoyed the food and wine and promptness of service all night. I highly recommend this place. Beautiful decor too.
Great New Year’s menu with interesting wine pairings.
Great food but horrible service again. Something is going on over there that needs to be remedied as it's too good and too expensive to have people serving who cannot even remember to bring you a lemon with your seafood after asking twice. Basics, people.
Beautiful Christmas morning breakfast with excellent service!
We had a wonderful Christmas Eve brunch, lots of options and everything was awesome
We had a wonderful pre-Christmas dinner with our adult children. Food and Service were excellent. My husband and I have celebrated several other special occasions at this restaurant.
We expected much more based on the reviews we had read. The food was average and overpriced in our opinion.
The service was worse-slow and several mistakes in parts of our orders eventhough it was not a busy night when we were there. We had a group of 7 and the concerns very universal after a 3 hour prolonged experience with only one round of drinks in a group with several seniors.
Even worse, we were charged a mandatory gratuity for this size group although we were not told this when we made the reservation and it does not say this anywhere on the menu. The tip charge was 22% which is perhaps why our waiter was disengaged.
Afraid we will not hurry back.
A number of people in our birthday group enjoy choosing Azurea for their b'day luncheon. At this particular luncheon one in the group could not eat the soggy flatbread. I took my brisket and potato salad home so I could rinse off most of the salty/vinegary dressing on the potatoes and mix in Greek yogurt and wipe off most of the sauce off the beef.
We were all surprised to see that the added tip was 22%! Some in the group have already secretly opted out when One Ocean is chosen. I must now agree.
Azurea is usually over-the-top special, but this time they really missed the mark. My advice is don't go during the holidays if you are not in a party as the staff is stretched too thin. We went for over 25 minutes with our first course empty plates sitting in front of us and no sign of our waitress. Not that it's a big deal to pour my own champagne, but for the restaurant mark-up I feel like I'm paying for that service. I marked only good for the food this time as I ordered the Bouillabaisse, wanting some nice broth with my seafood. Theirs should be called porridge as it has so much cous cous it is not even served with a spoon. Very disappointing, but my Veuve Cliquot was delicious and the moon rising over the Ocean was lovely.
Honestly, we were disappointed with the food. The amuse bouch was drowning in sauce and one dimensional in flavor, not to mention soggy since it was obvious the wonton wrapper had sat in the sauce for some time. I got the James Beard nominated entree but it arrived terribly overcooked and didn't boast any unique flavors that made it memorable either. They didn't have the only dessert I wanted that was listed on the menu but made up for it by comping us for a substitute. The service was perfection and atmosphere was beautiful. I just think this is a place that gets a lot of business from people who don't really know what good food actually tastes like because they're too focused on getting their money's worth with dishes that are overdone and too heavy compared to fresh and refined. I honestly can't recommend this at all, especially considering the exceptionally high prices charged for what you get on the plate.
Absolutely fabulous experience. The food and ambiance was first rate. Our server, Hannah, was top notch. We have NOTHING but great things to say!
We were worried that the restaurant would not be open during the first night of our trip. It reopened at 6 pm on first night at One Ocean. Which so happened to be our 21st wedding anniversary. Azurea welcomed us with a card signed by the staff. Our server Hannah remembered us from our first visit August 2016. There is a review for that first dining experience also. We started with the Ceasar salad and Mayport bbq shrimp and grits. The salad is a work of art and delicious. The shrimp and grits were bit different from other shrimp and grits I had before. The grits were smooth and shrimp bbq was amazing. My wife had the Char for her entree she wanted the Salmon but that was not available. Hannah recommended the Char instead not as fatty as the Salmon. She was right it was simply delicious with spinach. I had the Sea Bass which I had before. I love the way the chef cooks the Sea Bass (Perfect) not dry or hard. I truly recommend Azurea especially now the kitchen as completed renovations the chef will probably go to another level. Ask for Hannah, she is professional, and knowledgeable on the wine list and the menu.
My experience as Azurea can only be described as mind-blowing. I was taken here by my fiancée for my birthday. I knew it was a luxury restaurant but this was a step above any other “luxury” offerings I’ve enjoyed yet in the Jacksonville area. The service experience made me feel like a foreign dignitary! The servers and waiting staff were so professional and paid such careful attention to detail, checking in just at the right moments.
The appetizers and entrees were perfect. I happen to LOVE Italian, so one standout was Chef Jay Mendoza’s Eggplant Meatballs. The Marinara sauce rivaled any number of standout East Coast Italian joints from Miami to NYC. This dish was so succulent and creative – just perfection on a plate!
The entire crew also came out to sing me happy birthday and deliver a colossal chocolate birthday cake with edible pearls, so huge and finely crafted it resembled the Leaning Tower of Pisa! It was opulent and left me speechless.
Overall it was beyond fantastic! I highly recommend One Ocean for a truly special experience for any special occasion -AS
Great value for a special occasion. We've been there three times and have never been disappointed.
Food was cold. Scallops were chewy, and my wife actually sent them back. Her replacement order of grouper was cold and tasteless.
very nice menu; wine list; excellent service; great setting; excellent dinner
This was our 2nd time to Azurea, our first was in June 2017. The server remembered us as one in our party had a number of food allergies. We had 6 people in our party this time. The server was very professional in handling the allergies issue for 4 of our 6 people and discrete. All the food was fabulous in taste and presentation. With significant deviations from the menu description the food was very flavorful and cooked to everyone's satisfaction. The pace of the meal was relaxed from the chef's appetizer to desert and coffee. We will come here every time we are in Florida.
Absolutely one of the best dining experiences ever. Fabulous atmosphere. The courses were delicious and beautifully presented. The service was impeccable.
Definitely a go-to destination for future special events.
We got together for "ladies' lunch" to celebrate our birthdays, which are two weeks apart. The food was delicious, the ambiance was very pleasant, and the server was friendly and efficient. I can definitely recommend Ocean One Azurea for a special lunch outing!
One of my favorites and high quality restaurants that never disappoints.
