About AZUR Restaurant & Patio
AZUR restaurant & patio was designed after European establishments providing the feel of being in a different place without leaving Lexington. The food is described as new American and Heirloom Contemporary. The chefs react to what comes at them from the local markets making our cuisine locally influenced, but worldly inspired. The walls are bold blues and greens with curves throughout. The interior space flows outside through three sets of French doors onto the elegant stone bordered brick patio. Weather permitting, the patio is opened and the patio sides could be lowered for inclement weather.

AZUR Restaurant & Patio Ratings and Reviews
Unfortunately everything about our meal was a little bit off. We opted for a bunch of appetizers and each one lacked in some area. The sauce on the lobster crepes was weird; the pimiento cheese croquettes were cold and boring. The only item we enjoyed was the caprese salad. Even the double espresso was watery - possibly not even espresso. We also did enjoy the live jazz band. Overall though, we won't be returning.
I must admit part of my negative experience was my own fault. I neglected to ask the price for one of the specials. It was an 18oz rib eye. I was taken aback with the check came and the price was $64.00! But again that was on me. However the edible part of the stake was barely 9 oz. The rest was fat and gristle. I ordered it medium; it was not. By the rareness I would hate to imagine what a rare order would look like. Additionally the outside was blackened to a point of be burnt. The "stake sauce" that was touted tasted like it was right out of a bottle. In fact I have tasted better from a bottled sauce.
The other order was the steak medallions. It was cooked medium but the meat was dry. I could tell it could have been tasty had it not been dry.
Our waiter was cordial and attentive. He gets good marks. The food was not his fault.
On the plus side the coffee was pretty good. Chose not to try dessert.
Great spot. It has been many years since we were here last. Definitely they have upped their game. Great menu with local specials. New items pointed out by our waiter. Very friendly staff. Live music was starting up as we were leaving. Outdoor patio is really almost 3 season space.
Always excellent and creative menu choices. Although the restaurant stays busy for dinner, the service is always perfect. We would recommend Azure to anyone. As a side note, even though they do not have a gluten-free menu, our waiter said almost any of their entrees can be made gluten free if asked. Their patio in warm weather is a special area to also dine and a little surprise given the restaurant is in a strip mall area.
Let me start by saying that I have had several wonderful meals here. The dirty martinis are always excellent. We stopped by for the Sunday 1/2 price oysters and dinner. Our server, Josh, could not have been friendlier or more attentive. I ordered the halibut special as did one of my companions, the other had the bison short ribs. After 2 dozen oysters, chargrilled and raw we were served our dinner. Everything looked beautiful, I was told the short ribs were very good. My dish, however was not up to their usual deliciousness. Sadly, the fish was over cooked and the red pepper sauce was pretty bland. We really like this restaurant and am sure it’s a one off situation. We had a lovely blueberry peach cobbler to finish up. With drinks, dessert and tip, dinner for 3 was approximately $250.
Overall experience was good. Out server was very helpful but busy on a Saturday night. We started with lobster crepes which were very tasty. For the entree we asked to split the dry aged rib eye, and the restaurant was very accommodating. The presentation was wonderful when it arrived. Our only complaint was the temperature of the steak. It was cool, like it had been sitting on the counter for a while before arriving. Due to the presentation we decided not to complain. The taste was very good.
The food was pretty mediocre. I was excited to see oysters on the menu and so I ordered a dozen. Whoever shucked them needs remediation training. Everyone of the oysters had no liquor in the half shells. They came out dry and their texture reflected this. I also excitedly ordered the scallops. Although well caramelized on the outside they were overdone on the inside. My companions, however, were reasonably happy with their food.
The food at Azur is always good, but tonight’s service was a bit off, it started right away and never improved. Nice server, just slow and seemed to be working to large an area. Nice, but slow to service. Happy south lexington has this restaurant and chef! Always mixing it up.
Extremely slow service. Bread had apparently just come out of the freezer. The server kept trying to collect barware and silverware from our table because they were "running out". Dinner lukewarm at best. Reservation was for seven and we left the restaurant at 10:00. It was a long night.
This was the first and last time I will visit Azur. It is terribly overpriced. The ambiance is so-so. We were on the patio, which was very noisy. I ordered pasta, which was not prepared as specified in the menu. The waiter comped a beer to make up for it, which seemed quite inadequate. Even the menu is limited. Not worth returning to.
We left I-75, while heading North, after finding Azur on Open Table. We were not disappointed. The restaurant is in an strip of shops, and the covered outdoor patio was perfect on a warm summer day.
The menu is somewhat small, but the choices are interesting. The tomato bisque was thick and spicy and the lobster crepes, served on a spinach salad we're excellent as was the shrimp selection.
Service was friendly, and the chef even made a visit to each table to see how things were going
Our server was awful!! There was no one inside in the restaurant but us. 3 tables were occupied outside on the patio. Every time a server would go out to the patio the door they used would squeak at a very high volume! It was SO annoying. I cannot believe that door has not been addressed by the staff. I informed the gentleman that delivered our food that door was very obnoxious, he looked at us as if we were speaking a different language. Good food, terrible service
