Azuki Japanese Restaurant
batter-fried shrimp & vegetable w. tempura dipping sauce
The garlic shrimp appetizer was dry and tasteless. The “perfect” sake was low quality - not smooth or well blended at all.
A great place to get sushi near Penn Station
Great experience. Our server was great
The food was very basic. there was only one waiter working so the service was slow.
The food was very delicious!! There were only about three other parties there and food still took a while to get out and the waiter messed up one of the orders twice and did not explain the menu clearly.
Had a spicy crab roll, crunchy spicy tuna roll, and the Alaska roll, all were great. Service was prompt and to top it off they even let me try house sake. Would definitely recommend.
The restaurant was perfect for a happy hour meal. We had the trick color sushi included a spicy tuna roll excellent value for NYC. I also had the Toro fatty tuna and midra snapper best ever. Happy hour till 9pm. Great place to grab some sashimi and sushi. The spider roll was very good a little stingy on the crab.
No había gente casi, pero no se entiende, el sushi INCREIBLE.
The service was horrible. The hostess was so rude but the only thing that made up for the experience is that the food was good, and it was super affordable for a group of 6, with drinks, appetizers, and entrees
We were surprised to find only 2 people when we got there at 7:30 PM on a Saturday night... but food was excellent.
Everything was pretty good. We were in a rush to get to a show, so the restaurant was able to accommodate us. The food was delicious. Although they were not too busy, there was only 1 waiter and the hostess just stood around the whole time, staring out the front window. I think she could’ve done a little more to help out the waiter.
We arrived at 7:15, and were the only customers in the restaurant. Slightly worried, we ordered appetizers first. They were very good. We ordered two rolls, both tempura. They were excellent. The wine was inexpensive. My wife loved the food so much, we will be back. Excellent food at a great value.
Service somewhat rude and non caring. Went for dinner and had rainbow roll which was just OK. Also bento box with teriyaki salmon. The salmon was good, the shrimp dumplings mediocre. If u want multi grain rice instead of white rice they up charge you $3.50. Tried to use my accumulated dollars from open table and they stated they don’t do that and never have. Bypass this one. So many other places to go.
I entered this restaurant on March 1, 2019. The entrance is narrow but identifiable. The waitress is friendly. Quality of the service is what one would expect - fast, simple, and straightforward. The food is abit pricey. For me, $6.50 for 6 Alaska rolls, $12.50 for tempura udon, and $6.00 for tempura cheese cake. However, those dishes are delicious. The ambiance is suitable for everyone - group of friends, couples, individuals, business partners. I would recommend this place to anyone who is not extremely tight on a budget. The space between the tables is good enough for semi-private conversations. This restaurant should have updated their menu. Now looking back, lots of prices went up by 50 cents.
Was a nice place. Very good prices for NYC. The service was so-so.
We had a wonderful Valentines Day at Azuki! Best sushi in town. Everything was amazing.
Went prior to a show at MSG. Prices were so reasonable for midtown, Manhattan. Great rolls and drinks.
We read several reviews on O T and other cites. We were concerned about lower star reviews before we arrived. We ate at 230 on a Saturday. The waitress was very attentive. We were not rushed at all and were given plenty of time to order and then between salad entree and dessert. The 5 stars for food is relative to price. Given the reasonable price ($17 for a salmon bento box with salad Cali roll edamame and rice) I thought 5 stars appropriate. The location was great for us —3 short blocks from Penn Would like to catch a lunch special during the week but not likely. Dinner for 4 before deserts was about $70 + tax n tip. Will def go back.
One of the best sushi restaurants in town. Not cheap but worth it.
They're not authentic Japanese but good.
Also have some of good Japanese sakes. Convinient location and good service.
Super friendly staff. Delicious plates!
Great value for fresh sushi. Happy hour specials (even on weekends) and the menu included everything from sushi and rolls to udon and tempura.
A relaxed place where the food is good enough and the prices are reasonable. We enjoyed the sushi, and the miso soup was above average. I would return if I was looking for a quick and satisfying meal at a good price.
Perfect meal near Penn Station.
Good value and the happy hour was a definite plus.
Empty when we walked in. The food was good but unfortunately the server was not welcoming and a bit rude. It wasn’t like the server was busy and overwhelmed so not quite sure why so glum. Agree with other reviews that there are so many restaurants to choose from why go back to a place that doesn’t make you feel like they want to serve you. I hope that they can improve how they treat customers because the food is decent and the place is pretty.
Very rude and unwelcoming hostess. Inattentive servers.
We have been here a few times and we always are very satisfied. Bento box salmon was very good. We requested instead of teriyaki substitute w miso, and it was good.
Very nice. Casual after-work atmosphere. Kids still welcome but mainly geared towards adults. Even busy, quiet enough to maintain conversation. Overall great place and food.
Found them on open table... it was very simple and unassuming but the service was just right and the fish was delicious. Just right for quiet dinner.
Excellent sushi and very good price point. Felt the cocktail/wine choices were a little weak but well worth the visit for the food!
Unfortunately, Service is NOT a priority at Azuki. I was a waitress through college and was appalled that we were ignored. There were only two other tables occupied!
When we arrived, they seated us quickly. We ordered a drink and appetizers as we waited for the rest of our party to arrive.
We waited patiently for the drinks and appetizer, but the waiter was busy eating his own lunch (pizza, in view of all the customers)?!
The food was fairly good, but we waited for EVERYTHING, longer than expected. We head into Manhattan frequently and will NOT return here.
The owner needs to spend some time onsite. OR get his employees some training!
We chose Azuki as it is only (3) short blocks from Madison Square Garden before an evening show. The wait staff had a problem with our OpenTable reservation, returning to our table several times to show us thy couldn’t locate our reservation. Waiter was curt, and not personable. Nevertheless, multigrain brown rice was an interesting twist to white rice with a $1.00 up-charge per roll. Salmon seemed pale, and the rolls small. While the menu maintains a nice selection or rolls and sake, I would give Azuki an average rating.
Quick service. Good food. Good presentation. Should have been more crowded as the food, value and atmosphere were very good.
Really good food for a great price! The food was ready quickly and was beautifully prepare
It was empty when we arrived but food was fresh and delicious.
Food was great but our server could not get off his phone long enough to help us. They were out of both bottles of wine we tried to order & he didn’t care to offer us anything different
Great value for Japanese food near Madison Square Garden.
The atmosphere was fantastic to have a conversation and be able to hear the other person. The sushi was tasty and very reasonably priced. I highly recommend going to this quaint restaurant if you want to escape long wait times and crowds.
It was just ok, convenient to the movies. Food or service was nothing special. Since there are so many restaurants in NYC to try I'm not sure I would go again.
Excellent food and service!!! Manhattan roll is the best!!
