About this restaurant

Azucar’s trademark is authentic, reasonably priced South American food served as tapas in a warm, informal and relaxing setting. In the words of Howard Marks “Azucar has established an excellent reputation for inexpensive, top quality tapas to suit all tastes. We look forward to bringing our knowledge of South American delicacies to Brewery Wharf and adding an informal eating experience to what has already become a popular, more traditional dining area.”

From start to finish everything was amazing. The food, venue, drinks and especially the hospitality were second to none....

First time at Azucar, was attracted by the menu. The food was amazing and the service was as good, with everything going on the waitress where very attentive and friendly! Would definitely recommend. The day we dined with Azucar there was some kind of function going on, on the out side terrace. Even though we had booked in advance we where not made aware of this. It made the ambience a bit weird, we felt like we shouldn't have been there so we rushed slightly and the music was very loud.

Bad service, was a group booking, the restaurant was not fully booked but we still got wrong food delivered, had to ask for things repeatedly that should have been brought over anyway e.g glasses with water

The service was very poor. There was only one waitress serving and we were left for about 15 minutes before she was able to come over to take our order. It was another 15 minute before we even got our drinks. The food was very average and not good enough for me to want to go back. I wouldn't recommend to my friends.

Some time ago I used to come here regularly and was always impressed by the bustling atmosphere and enjoyable, unusual tapas. I hadn't been for over a year, and sadly when I return things have turned for the worse. On a Saturday night it was quiet and lacked atmosphere, the staff were unenthusiastic and didn't seem like they wanted to be there, and the food was way under par. From what I'd previously experienced, and for the price you pay, this was a very disappointing meal, with many of the dishes being dry and bland, with the rest having an identical sauce which seemed like nothing more than tinned tomatoes. Half the wines on the red list were out of stock on a quiet evening, and when the wine we selected was brought, it was dumped on the end of the table with presentation, and no offer to pour. Sadly, I wouldn't return, and would discourage others from doing so.

We had a £15 Groupon voucher for 6 tapas for two and it was excellent value. We have been wanting to try Tapas, but didn't want to make the mistake of ordering expensive selections to then find we didn't like them. This option allowed up to try and not worry about the price. The prawns, fishcakes and meatballs were particularly good choices. We'd now go again with more confidence.

The restaurant was way too busy for the number of staff. Indeed it seemed to me only one member of staff was actually doing anything. The poor ladywas clearly rushed off her feet, but was polite and friendly all the same so some credit there. I don't know how she coped. The food was shocking though. There are lots of tapas places in Leeds, this wasn't a good experience. it seemed to be a collection of little bowls of mush. the chorizo dissolved into the sauce, and the over cooked potatoes (bravas) had too much of a very basic sauce tasting of tinned tomatoes with a bit of spice. I also had calamari which was essentially deep fried rubber bands. Having ordered drinks several times, with none arriving they at least took them off the bill! The brewery wharfe area is great for nights out, I'd have thought the restaurants would do well and be of a higher standard than this.

We was recommended here after deciding last minute to go out for a meal and what luck we was. When the portions arrived to the table they looked on the small side but I can't describe how full we were by the time we had finished. Great meal and will be back
