Azucar at La Serena Villas
This restaurant is VERY misleading. You would think that with the name Azucar and Mexican art all over the place that it would be a Mexican food restaurant, at least Latin but it turned out to be American/ Italian food. Food is also extremely over priced. I had the Salmon meal, definitely not worth $32. My friend ordered "risotto" and couldn't even it. I would only recommend this place for drinks. Another tourist trap in Palm Springs.
Outstanding! We loved everything about this restaurant.
I've eaten at Azucar several times with friends. This time I was with my family. I wanted to be sure to take them there this visit.
First, Azucar is beautifully, tastefully decorated. Very San Miguel. A lovely spot for a meal, either in their dining room next to the pool or on the upstairs rooftop. The service there is lovely, as well.
My daughter, son-in-law, and 14-year old grandson stopped at the front desk when we came in. The clerk called back to the dining room to see if it was OK to bring in someone under 21. He explained that some people like to be kids-free when they stay at the hotel, so he wanted to check. It turned out to be OK, and we appreciated the accommodation. (Though our grandson is really a short adult, so it wouldn't have been an issue, but I understand the feeling and thought it was great that the hotel checked this out before they let us go on to the dining room; we weren't offended by the policy.)
OK, dinner. DELICIOUS! We began with an ahi bruschetta for the table. It's normally served with three pieces, but the waiter accommodated us with four pieces. Amazing! Just-caught fresh served on a very crisp 3-inch french toast with some kind of delicious slaw. We all declared we could be happy with that as an entree.
For the meal, my grandson had a steak so tender you could have "cut it with a fork", as they say. The sides were also yummy. My daughter had the scallops, which I've had in the past. Beautifully cooked and lovely sides. I had a brussel sprout salad which had a wonderful citrus dressing and delightful Blue Moon goat cheese that gave it both a creaminess and zip. My son-in-law and I had the salmon. Crispy skin, perfectly cooked square on a mound of wonderful risotto. I had a smooth, not-too-sweet flan for dessert and my grandson had a scoop of Azucar's coffee ice cream.
Both the server and hostess made us feel very welcome and appreciated. A lovely evening overall.
We were seated three times. Each time driven out by the noise level. You just can not carry on a conversation across a table. The food may have been fine, but the headaches created by the noise level mad this a non-meal. We will not return.
Food perfect
Waiter exceptional
Great ambiance
Unfortunately seated next to a very large extremely noisy group
Every effort made to make us comfortable including blankets
We’ll return
We sat on the upper terrace- such a beautiful space with the outdoor fireplace- amazing Mountain View’s- truly a special Palm Springs experience- Great food and cocktails too.
The greeting and service was excellent, friendly and cheerful. The decor is cool and funky.
The items we chose for lunch were very good.
Great atmosphere and setting in the heart of Palm Springs.
Wonderful romantic rooftop dinner!
We were visiting Palm Springs after being on the coast of California. Many friends had made recommendations for other restaurants, however I noticed this place while driving by on the way to Melvyns. I made a reservation for the following night, even though no one had mentioned this place before. It was absolutely magical… I love the quaint seating area around the pool, the delightful interior space that was bright and colorful, and finally the food and drinks which were some of the best we had while on the West Coast. This seems to be and undervalued gem in Palm Springs. Make sure to stop in!!
Reserved outside table. Ambiance around the pool was so pleasant
Had dinner at Sugar High, their rooftop bar. They knew we had driven in from LA and there were a couple of complimentary glasses of champagne at our table when we arrived. Food and service were excellent and the view incredible.
The rooftop dining was awesome for a special night out for me and my husband
Beautiful & peaceful restaurant in a classic Palm Springs pool & courtyard setting. Perfect for lunch with friends. Very friendly and discreet service with a good selection of cocktails and creative lunch menu. Would like to return for a dinner experience too- and try the rooftop dining.
Truly amazing meal and service. Will definitely be back!
Yummy cocktails, great environment & fantastic service!
I went for brunch, had the full menu taken out of my hands in favor of a breakfast menu. The breakfast is disappointing. On top of that sitting inside I sat and listened to the wait staff recount their entire night, it was a bro party I wanted to exit ASAP.
We waited an hour with only one contact with the waiter. It took 30 minutes to get water. We never received our drinks. After noticing no other tables had food we decided to leave. Not sure what was going on but we didn’t wait to find out.
The Patio was very beautiful but the service just wow! We sat down and it took someone 25 minutes just to come say anything to us! Then after finally ordering drinks and waiting another 20minutes we decided to place are food order well we got our food before the drinks even came! All and all I’d like to go back and hopefully have a better experience.
LOVELY restaurant. Absolutely stunning. Had a fantastic table next to the pool. Service was great, food was not so hot. Be careful what you order, portions are small. No bread served before dinner.
Will have to try again sometime and not order the swordfish.
The food, the wine list, the service and setting were all outstanding! A real gem...
Such a beautiful property and the food and drinks were fantastic!
Delightful poolside dining. Great creative menu with many vegetarian and vegan choices. Great drinks too
The restaurant is charming. Sat poolside for lunch with two friends and a dog. The portions were a bit small but still a nice meal.
The service was so slow
We sat n waited for just the menu 10 -15 min
The menu doesn’t have a variety of breakfast options to what we wanted
Wasn’t what I expected 😕
Husband and I had lunch on a Saturday afternoon under the misters by the pool, it was fabulous. Service and food were top notch, we are going back again today! Favorite restaurant in Palm Springs so far.
Great food
WOW! My husband and I made reservations a week in advance but really did not need to. We had lunch on a Friday at 12 pm. Our reservations were originally for 12:45 pm but the accommodated our time change. The food was AMAZING! I definitely recommend the cauliflower tacos! A good size and filling! The french fries are delicious too! A cute place for pictures! Decor is amazing!
Great food but the pasta was cold and we must have waited for our food for an hour at least...great server, great ambiance, food a little pricey for what you get.
Loved the decor and the service was excellent and very creative vegetarian options, love it!
Went for Dinner at Azucar our first nights stay on a Wednesday, had the restaurant to ourselves which we enjoyed (weather was rainy and it was mid week so to be expected). The beet salad was delicious and we shared the salmon and the scallops which were very well cooked and presented. I have seen the restaurant on the weekend and it is lively and energetic. Would definitely recommend eating here but if you want the atmosphere, eat here on weekend.
The venue was artful and modern and the food was delightful.
Cameron makes the most amazing craft cocktails and gives amazing customer service. The food is wonderful and the atmosphere is a cool Palm Springs hotel vibe.
I recommend this restaurant/bar to both visitors and locals. Its a gem!!
I took a friend for her birthday and we loved it. Food is awesome and such a great staff!
My new favorite restaurant in Palm Springs ! Everything was perfect, from the charming decor to the exquisite cuisine .
We had an amazing time on the upstairs deck "Sugar High" at Azucar. The food was outstanding, I had the swordfish and my boyfriend had the scallops- both incredible. We had great cocktails, delicious starter salad, and wonderful service!! I had marked on Open Table that it was our anniversary, and without us saying anything further, they brought out a surprise dessert with a sparkler on top, which was of course delicious. Thank you so much, Azucar!!!
Great food and cocktails!
We came here for lunch for our 10 year anniversary. The venue was super cute and the food and drinks were good. I have Celiac disease and it was nice to have a few options to choose from that were thoughtfully put together rather than just grilled vegetables. Haha!
We did note in the reservation that we were celebrating our anniversary, but there was no mention of it when we were seated or served. Oh well, we had a great time celebrating together.
Seems like this would be a fun place to come with a group.
they forgot about my husbands birthday even though I communicated that. I would have brought my own surprise had I known.
Our Server was amazing ! Azucar never disappoints, always fresh ingredients, delicious food and great presentation. I recommend the watermelon salad with Balsamic pearls, our very nice Waiter also gave us the recipe for the pearls. The salmon was excellent as was the swordfish.
