Azucar at La Serena Villas
Always love this place, but the service was short this time. We were asked if we had a reservation when we walked in past the reservation desk, again at the host podium, again by someone random. Was odd. We were seated in time, then waited 25 minutes for a server to ask if we want drinks. Then another 15 to get them- almost 45 minutes after our reservation. Ouch. Food took a long time. Once it got there it was good, so were the drinks. But most likely a staff problem in a busy restaurant.
I am hoping this was a one time thing
Went for dinner with my mother. Great food in a beautiful setting. The service was really outstanding.
Can’t say enough about this place
Fantastic food and service - our server Mark was attentive, gave us perfect recommendations and made our lunch a great experience - totally recommended for vegetarians!
Poor service on Presidents’ Day
After we arrived for our 8pm reservation, they sat us outside under a plastic awning with no heating in a fairly frigid evening.
We all asked for cocktails and while two in our party ordered only appetizers, the other two ordered main courses. The waiter brought two of the appetizers in a reasonable time. After waiting for the main courses for 45 mins, the waiter told us that they had a party of 15 downstairs but offered no other relief or compensation. The main courses actually arrived after 1 hour.
All in all a very disappointing experience.
Second time dining at this fun and fashionable restaurant. We sat inside; charming decor. Our service was excellent. The food was prepared exactly right. Highly recommended.
Great service, attractive decor and people watching. The watermelon salad was fantastic. Unfortunately, the vegan abondigas soup had way too much salt that it was inedible and I had to send it back, something I haven’t done in years. We were next to an exuberant party and it was very loud and unpleasant.
We had a great dinner. This was a price fix Valentine dinner
The desert choices were disappointing considering the occasion
It is hidden gems. Beautiful and elegant. We came for Valentine’s Day. Good foods but pricey.
The only down side was the dessert . It was very very tiny .
Azucar is a total delight! Martin is Top Service with a smile and an amazing ambassador for La Serena Villas. Great food and service. Plus Sugar High for cocktails is perfect! Can’t wait to go back’
Don’t go for breakfast. Service nonexistent.
Probably the only restaurant in PS that we enjoyed our food at. Seriously. The drinks are tasty and the food was delicious and actually had flavor. Unlike so many other restaurants in the DT area.
As a guest of the hotel I was extremely disappointed that we were seated upstairs in a plastic tent. It was known it was my wife’s 40th bday but there was no consideration to my requests. We decided to leave the loud tent but were stopped by a waiter that did everything possible. We appreciated the comped drinks and had a few entrees at the upstairs bars. Food is good but definitely not jumbo scallops as stated. Overall, we ate breakfast and lunch in our room and by the pool and most items were great.
Delightful ambience! Very welcoming staff! Wonderful service! Limited menu but we all loved our dinners! We'll be back!
Took my partner for his birthday to Azucar on a Thursday night. The Spanish style boutique hotel and restaurant were aesthetically pleasing and I knew my partner would enjoy the decor and ambiance. Unfortunately, the rooftop was closed for a special event that evening however, we thoroughly enjoyed our nice and intimate dinner inside since it was a little chilly that evening. Staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive from the time we arrived. We had a reservation toward the end of the night so it was bit quiet, which we did not mind. We enjoyed some of their specialty cocktails like the Palm Collins (refreshing). For dinner we had the jumbo scallops and crabbed stuffed poblano (very appetizing). They even surprised us with a birthday treat at the end of dinner; that was very nice of them. I would definitely recommend to others looking for a quiet and intimate dinner date. I’d even like to come back and invite some friends and hopefully get to dine on the rooftop next time. Thank you Azucar :)
Exotic setting, wonder food and superb service😀
Simply fabulous place.
My wife had the ahi bruschetta, I had the seafood salad. Both were world class (although portions are very small, in case you like big meals).
We went again after 2 days because we liked it that much.
A MUST if you are in Palm Springs even for just a few days.
We were disappointed that a brunch menu was not available on a Sunday at 11:00am. Or breakfast available. If the original Chef has moved on, they need to do some fine tuning on the offerings.
A perfect outdoor seating table for 5 with heaters as the sun set. Great server and food was delicious.
Great setting , great food & cocktails. Will come back again soon!
Loved the atmosphere. Food is good but a bit spicy. Good selection of food and wine. Intimate and romantic restaurant. Has a terrific rooftop with a cozy fireplace for after dinner drinks.
This is a beautiful place with a one-of-a-kind style. The service - especially Benito - was awesome. The salads and apps are to die for. ❤️
Palm Springs get-away. Perfect night on the roof! A little chilly but they were very accommodating with the heaters and fireplace. Great food and service! Lovely evening
Poor service, so bad detracted from the amazing food .
Good and friendly service, Really good food, great ambience
Our first time there for dinner and it was excellent!
We will definitely revisit this exceptional restaurant soon!
Was very mi e place clean and relaxing
Azucar is a very chill restaurant in the micro resort, La Serena. Happiness vibe abounds at lunch. Fish tacos are stellar. Bartender mixes Interesting and tasty drinks and will customize to your liking. Good guac too.
What a delightful surprise to discover Azucar. The food was outstanding for myself and the other guests the seafood lobster and prawn salad was so full of seafood, delicious.
Martin our Server was Exceptional! And our brunch delicious! We will be back!
Most incredible dining experience! Hospitality was top notch and the food was incredible. Intimate environment, with a beautiful interior.
We arranged for a late dinner this weekend. We were seated adjacent to a large group that were having a party. The server graciously arranged to move us to another table so that we could avoid the party at the table next to us.
We ordered the shaved brussel sprout salad and my wife described it as outstanding. I ordered the chicken/chorizo on a bed of hominy. The sauce and other flavours were perfect. Unfortunately, the chicken was way overcooked and quite dried out. It clearly had been prepared earlier in the evening. Even though, the kitchen had some of the chicken on hand, they should have let the servers know that the dish was sold out for the evening. The hominy, was still in good shape and it was a delightful experience to finally try this side dish.
I would order it again as it was really delicious but spoiled by being way beyond well cooked and seriously into over-cooked territory. I didn't complain as I was just too darn hungry.
The staff were really really great.
Despite the comments above, I have already recommended Azucar to friends
amazing margaritas & ambiance but not great food
We waited 30 minutes at our table for the server to take our drink order. This was after two attempts to ask for a server. The manager made excuses for the poor service and made no effort to offer anything to make up for the service. We will not return to Azucar nor recommend this restaurant to others. I am happy to share more about my experience should anyone be interested.
We love the ambiance, the different dining locations, and the uniqueness of the Mediterannean flavors. Everything we've had has been good to excellent. However, the food is not consistent and the service system always has problems. We had an exceptional shaved brussels sprouts salad twice: the first time it was vibrantly dressed with a very tart lemon dressing with a hint of some really interesting unusual spice but the second time it came with a nondescript dressing that barely communicated lemon and the salad was good but no longer 5 star. The kind and helpful staff suffer without the training and organization they need: you may have the wrong meals set in front of you, your entree may get cold while you try to find someone to bring you utensils or drinks you ordered for the entree may not be delivered until after you are finished eating.
Poor service - sat at table over 10 minutes before server came to take drink orders.
Uncomfortable seating: table outside in tent: too hot heater; too cold away from it.
Mediocre food: only five entrees, and baked chicken was tough and tasted microwaved; ordered steak - waiter came back to say restaurant was out of it
Bottom line: avoid this restaurant
It was perfect in all ways the food was delicious and the setting was amazing! The only thing I would change would be the playlist!
I was super excited about our dinner at Azucar and was surprised to find a PriFix Holiday menu when we sat down. This was not posted on the website or Open Table prior to us making the reservation. The meal and service was good but expensive and not what we planned for that evening. I’m the future, I think you should be more upfront about any PriFix menu.
Our Christmas meal at Azucar was a delight in every way. Outstanding food and presentation in a charming setting, with a warm and personalised service. Thank you Azucar, midi and Mark.
We went there Christmas Eve and thoroughly enjoyed the evening. Mixed drinks were quite good. Food was excellent with some complexity of flavors that were pleasing and not overwhelming. The staff was fabulous. Very professional and friendly. They were attentive to our table despite being short staffed. I highly recommend this. Try to sit upstairs if possible.
