The name Azabu comes from a district in Tokyo, Japan, which began as a hub for merchants and local businesses. Now the city is home to embassies from many countries, giving the area an air of diversity, while preserving the history of local commerce with a modern, nostalgic touch. Plan Do See opened one of its first restaurants in the area, The Tokyo Restaurant, inside an historic building that used to be a bank. Soon after opening, the restaurant was full of a diverse clientele, bringing a lively vibe to the neighborhood. Plan Do See Founder Yutaka, walked by and noticed the restaurant swarming with international guests. It was this moment, in the city of Azabu, that he felt certain of the imminent success of expanding the business abroad.

Azabu is a first class dining experience in every category. The staff led by Daniel are amazing, especially Cinta, Seth, Emily and Rajiv (sp?). It is one of my favorite restaurants in all of NYC.

Food was exceptional quality. All seafood flown in directly from Japan. Wagyu also fantastic. Staff did a great job explaining certain dishes and helping us pick a perfect sake to accommodate the meal. Wonderful place for a business dinner.

Food was good, but over priced. Restaurant was empty except for our two top on a Friday at 7pm. Bill was $300 for a a 5 and 7 piece nigiri a la carte orders. Decent food but won’t be returning anytime soon.

I love Sushi Azabu. The omakase is always great and so is the uni tasting menu. The fish is as fresh and good as any sushi restaurant I have been to. My only complaint: since opening the upstairs version in NY Azabu's prices have soared, even on non-sushi items. $15 for a glass of beer - often less than a bottle?

Overpriced and underwhelming food. Paying full price 1-piece sashimi and 2 oz. sake pours that elsewhere would give you double those portions for the same money. Saishin at the Gansevoort rooftop has a similar price point but with portion sizes that deliver delicious food at great value. Obnoxious service more interested in upselling than sharing an experience. Not worth it at all.

I had the omakase at the table the other day and it was wonderful! The course had 4 appetizers plus additional Uni tasting, and several pieces of nigiri. My favorite sake was Kankiku!

I expect beautiful perfection for a 500.00 dinner. more like a casual sushi spot except for the outrageous pricing. so OVER the omakase hype. This fad can not die soon enough for me.

This may have just been a bad night, but my man and I went there on a Thursday at 9:30pm hoping for a romantic evening: instead we were elbow to elbow with very loud drunk people, on either side, and could barely here ourselves talk. It's definitely a cool kids scene, which we were actually trying to avoid. So that was a bummer. Food was solid, nothing memorable, however. Spend your $400 dollars elsewhere.

2nd time here and enjoyed it. Came here to celebrate my wife's birthday, she enjoyed it as well. I would recommend making a reservation as the place isn't to big.(maybe fits about 20 at most).

When making reservation mentioned it was a birthday dinner. When seated and places the order mentioned it twice. But no accomodation was made for the occassion. No candle nothing. And worst of all our reservation was 8 PM. They txt, emailed, called to confirm. But once we got there we had to wait 30 min for the table.

First time here! Really enjoyed it. Had omakase at the counter. The yuba with uni and caviar was a nice starter. The nigiri was done nicely. Chef was friendly and servers were polite and smiley. Good value and nice neighborhood joint. Very relaxing place and would be back again. Thank you!
