Ayhan's Shish Kebab - Port Washington
Very pleasant and excellent service. Food always is good
Good food and lots of it.
Forgot to bring us a side that we ordered. My ice tea was like water. Food had no taste. We will not be going back here.
Went here for Father's Day with my family, 3pm reservations early dinner. We waited what seemed an eternity for the waiter to come over. I love this type food but it was just Ok. A bit too salty and like my salt! It was nothing to write home about. Once the food came out the waiter never came back to ask how everything was. We had to constantly ask for refill on coffee, they were not even busy! The waiter and bus people were just very inattentive, like they didnt want to be there. This place needs a makeover, i noticed a lot of cracked tiles, could use a paint job to freshen...it looks tired. The waiter asked if we wanted anything else we said just the check, again waited too long the place was near empty!! finally I got up to go look for him and ask again for the check.. Will never go back!
Great bronzini as well as authentic Greek cuisine. Delicious sangria!
Have been going here for 25+ years. Food is always good. Consistent. Never had a bad meal. Waitstaff are always friendly and accommodating. Was a little surprised this time by the unusually slow service. The restaurant was fairly empty yet we waited quite a while for our order to be taken and between courses. None the less, yummy meal.
Always Fresh & Delicious ~ Service with a Smile
A Port Washington institution, and deservedly so. Friendly service and real value for the money
Ordered the lamb gyro. The lamb was dry and chewy. The premises looked time worn and in need of a refresh. Will probably return for another try but not soon.
Fresh & delicious. Service with a smile. Always a pleasure to dine here.
Excellent food and service. We did the price
Fixe. For $30 you get an appetizer, entree, dessert and glass of wine. The portions are very big, I took half of my dinner home. The hummus and spanikopita were my favorite!
Would definitely go back.
Wonderful!!!!!! A neighborhood gem!
Told the waiter I’m gluten free and the lamb shank came on a pita. Waiter recommended the lamb shank and said it was very tender. That wasn’t the case.
The meat in the gyro was dry. Never experienced this in previous visits.
Food was very good, but used to be a bit better. Service was a bit slow and our meals were cold. My kebobs were slightly over cooked, perhaps as a result of sitting too long. Not sure if this was just our server, since the table next to us came in well after us but left at the same time.
Having been numerous restaurants in their chain I was disappointed with food. Perhaps it was a cold evening and we sat down to dinner at 8:30PM (not rotate) but the main courses were very dried out! Restaurant itself was charming in decor and our waiter was very attentive.
I ordered the gyro plater.. the meat which was totally over looked and dry and my date had fish that too was overcooked. vegetables were good so willing to give it another try!
Delicious meal had by all in my group. I had the branzini and it was very moist and delicious.
great atmosphere , friendly, helpful staff. the food was very good and the portions were generous.
Had the lamb Gyro's. Very fresh and excellent tasting. Relaxed atmosphere. Consistent neighborhood eatery. Will surely return.
Wonderful Greek food. Friendly service. Decor makes you feel like you are on a Greek island.
We were disappointed at our most recent visit. We have had several very good experiences at this restaurant, but on our visit on 9/24, we found the food to be disappointing, both of our entries very dry and lacked flavor. the service was painfully slow, so much so, that we had to forego desert in order to make a local show that we though we had allotted more than enough time for.
Clean , and very Greek ambiance. Our waiter was great, he smiled and his service was excellent. The fish was prepared perfect. My Greek salad was very good.
Lamb gyro's were flavorful. Will definitely be back.
We were meeting old friends here, halfway between our residences. All of us had been here before, and were looking forward to it. We were not disappointed. We were ushered quickly to a lovely table in the beautifully appointed back room, enjoyed delicious sangria, wonderful food (several of us were vegetarian and enjoyed the selection), and were allowed to linger as long as we wanted for our visit. We had great service, leftovers, and capped off the night with fine strong coffee and Mediterranean desseats. A perfect evening. We had such a good time, we did not notice until leaving that he place had filled while we were eating, but we never felt pressured by the staff, or bothered by the other customers. Definitely will be back.
The setting, food and service cannot be beat. Pricing is moderate with good value. Sign up for their mailing list and discounts and "special events" are conveyed to you on a periodic basis.
Have brought friends and family many times to this wonderful restaurant. Always had a great time and will definitely return time and time again.
Really enjoyed my meal which was a kale salad with grilled octopus.. My friend who ordered a grilled octopus platter wasn't quite as thrilled. His octopus tasted very salty whereas mine, mixed with the salad had a totally different flavor. I would definitely go back as there were many other things on the menu that appealed to me.
Excellent Greek-style food. Ambience like sitting in a Greek isle restaurant. Large portions. Fantastic service!
Enjoyed the fish.
Real value in a pleasant casual spot. Friendly service and well-prepared Mediterranean food
Took my son here for his after-graduation meal. Went with family & close friends. Food was plentiful and delicious. Had been here before for Sunday brunch which was good and a friend's anniversary lunch-food was just as good. Service was a bit slow but not too bad. I would recommend this place for good Mediterranean food.
Their buffet is delicious, but the hot food is lukewarm much of the time
The food was good and the service just so so. I was disappointed you did not have the fried calamari. We had to ask for coffee and water. The charge for the coffee was $12.50 which I thought was excessive. Also there was a Mimosa on the check but I had a bloody Mary not a Mimosa.
We have been eating at shish-kebob since he opened 30 some years ago. It has always been consistently good, the food, the service, the ambiance. We will continue to patronize shish-kebob. It feels like home!
Long time favorite for Mediterranean food and exceptional value
Excellent value. Really tasty Turkish-Cypriot cuisine.
Good food and value, nice ambiance and service. I would recommend this restaurant.
Server did not listen and so orders were not correct, overall everything is usually excellent so this was a slightly off night. Fresh fish and foods, new dessert choices.
Very good Sunday Brunch. Large choice of salads, meats, fish and side dishes. All the food was very fresh and the restaurant has a pleasant atmosphere.
Our experience was one of the worst our lives. When we arrived at the restaurant for our 9:45 reservation we were informed that they did not have a reservation for us and that they were closing and could not serve us. It didn't matter that I showed them the reservation on my Open Table App. They blamed Open Table, would not take any responsibility, and were very rude. They did not offer us any compensation, claiming only the owner could do that. We were then forced to find another restaurant that was open with a regular price menu - not an easy thing to do on New Year's Eve. My friends and I will not be using Open Table again since we will not be able to trust that our reservation will be honored.
Convenient spot, great food, excellent service.
The Mediterranean health salad is a winner. Great kebabs, hummus and lamb.
Family friendly atmosphere.
