Excellent service and a very intriguing menu, both appetizer and entree. Perfect before a movie in the theater across the street.
The three dishes we ordered, Ayawaska salad, beef skewars, and potato puff stuffed with beef were excellent. The sauces were exquisite and the presentation appealing. We had a very positive experience all around.
Cocktails were excellent. Recommend the grilled octopus. Cerviche trio was good, not great. Salmon entree was tasty. Fish was cooked just right, not overdone. Potatoes were very salty.
Peruvian cuisine in a modern, upscale, restaurant. Excellent service with an inviting bar. Outdoor seating at lunch is perfect as the restaurant has direct sunlight. Enjoyed the grilled octopus appetizer and the short rib entree.
What a great find . . . from the food . . . to the service . . . to the ambience . . . this is a must go/do !!!
The menu offers a little bit of everything for everyone . . . extremely fresh & delicious.
Did not care for tables lined up in rows instead of individual. Danielle was very good serving us with a very positive attitude.
Salmon was delicious. My wife is from Colombia and loved everything about the restaurant. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
We had a New Years Eve late dinner. Our party of 4 decided to share appetizers and they were excellent. We started with really good pisco sours. The appetizers are a great way to dine if you do not want a heavier meal w/fries, rice etc. The ceviche is amazing, cooked pulpo is really good, and beef empanadas delicious. Very good, attentive service too. We’ll definitely be back again.
Very good service and good and unique foods. Great coctails and wait staff aswered all our questions
Ate here on New Years and the food was fantastic. Flavor profile on all the dishes that was unusual for Sonoma county but de-licious . Friendly festive atmosphere. Order appatizers and drinks then food or could all come at once. Do your party a favor and try a crevice or all three! Also be sure to get a pisco sour.
We had never tried Peruvian food and didn't know what to expect. But Yum! We took the waiter's recommendations on appetizers and entrees, and everything we really good. Also had a Pisco Sour, which was great! Can't wait to go back!
Truly exceptional! A great place for small plates, great seafood and creative food. Well worth a visit!
This is the place for Peruvian food! Located in the Theater District, the open dining room atmosphere is pleasant, although limited private seating as tables are close together with no partitions. Service was excellent and attentive.
Foods was amazing, beautiful plating and wonderfully flavorful. Recommend the trio ceviche, paella and steak with fries.
Pricing on the moderate to high side, you get value for the price.
friendly, tasty, fresh ingredients will return for more.
Our server was great- super kind, attentive and knowledgeable. The atmosphere was fun and lively with colorful decor. Everyone else in my party said their food was great, but mine wasn’t. I had the very Peruvian dish of steak with fries and upgraded to the “mixto” version with shrimp which was $7 more. I got two pieces of shrimp. Two. For $7 extra!!!! Not only that, but it came out cold. Cold enough where I had to send it back because it was weird eating cold steak in that sauce with cold fries (I hate having to send back food since I was a server all through college and know what it’s like). When it came back out it was warmer, but the steak was mediocre and the shrimp wasn’t my favorite (some legs were still on it). Many of the steak pieces were extra chewy and stringy. Though my food was sub par, everyone else raved about their ceviche, the pork dish, and cocktails. My daughter loved her pasta and the kids meal was reasonably priced at $6. Overall, I would go back and give it a second shot since everyone else loved it so much- hopefully I’ll have a better food experience next time.
Tasty and tender Lomo Saltado.
Great service. Brought our toddler and they were very accommodating.
And, mama got to enjoy her food and a Pisco sour.
Really enjoyed the drinks, ceviche trio and anticuchos. The lomo saltado not enough meat and too much sauce, bit okay. Nice, friendly staff
Give it a shot. Nice big space. They give you a good amount of food at reasonable prices. What we had to eat was only okay at best hence the 3-stars. But we want to try something else just in case. Had a Shaman cocktail, did not love it. Food came out fast. Waitress was very friendly. A little bit slow but not terribly.
Great food, wine and ambiance. Love it!
It was a fantastic dining experience! We will be back!
On this cold evening, dining was primarily indoors. The place was packed. The ambient noise was high. Service was good but a bit slow, given the crowd. But we were in no hurry. Our waiter explained various dishes. He brought a second round of wine glasses for the second bottle of wine.
Friendly service, delicious food. Wonderful experience!
Very nice addition to the local restaurant scene. Very tasty and well prepared. Service was a bit slow but hopefully will improve as they get their feet more firmly planted under them.
Excellent food with very good service. Top notch Peruvian food. The owners were making the rounds asking if everything was okay. The staff was very friendly and accommodating.
This was our second visit to Ayawaska in Petaluma (place of my birth!) and we enjoyed it every bit as much as the original dinner. The activity level was higher (Saturday vs. Sunday, I guess) and so the noise level was greater, but not oppressive as so many popular places are these days.
We were seated by a very friendly hostess at our reservation time and our waitperson was a delight. She recommended some drinks and food selections that were spot-on. The three of us each had different adult beverages and entre selections but shared two appetizers. Everything was very well prepared and presented. Flavors were distinct and well-matched.
Since it was a belated birthday celebration we shared a couple of desserts and they did not disappoint.
We'll be back!
We decide to stop in and try something new, and we are so glad we did. We sat outside
and listen to the music. Try this place !!!!!!!!! The cocktails were fantastic, the food was outstanding, great serve, and just a spectacular relaxing dinner. Why this place was not overflowing with guest is beyond me.
The food was good. Some dishes were spicy. Others not. Good cocktails, including mezcal. Service was a bit erratic - water, second drinks, bill. Lovely evening on the patio - rare for Petaluma because in the past there is usually fog or wind. But climate change has warmed up the evenings.
Don’t know how long they have been open. Seems like they are still getting their feet on the ground. Most servers very friendly though not all real knowledgeable. Host not real welcoming, told us they don’t take reservations even though I made one on Open Table. Food really good. Would have liked a green salad available without meat on it. I will definitely go back. Many intriguing items on menu.
Excellent food and service. The location is also great.
We go to Ayawaska often. We love the food and the cocktails are fabulous. Wine list needs some work. But the service, although very friendly is very slow! Slow with our drinks and with clearing the table. We had our dinner with ALL of the appetizer dishes still on the table. Then when we wanted to enjoy our wine we had all of our dinner dishes surrounding us. Will I go back yes... we love the food
Ayawaska was really excellent. The food was delicious and well-presented. The service was very good, and the prices were reasonable.
I most definitely recommend this place, and I am definitely going back.
This was my second visit to Ayawaska. The first time it was excellent and couldn't wait to return, but unfortunately our second experience was the exact opposite of the first. Everything was just off. A dish that was supposed to be hot came to us what felt like directly out of the refrigerator. I don't think we are going to give it a third try.
Appetizers were amazing and drinks were fabulous - 5 stars. Entrees were good, not quite as amazing. Loved the staff too. Great addition to Petaluma.
We love this place - nice setting and very good customer service. Our only disappointment has been dessert.
We loved it! Delicious drinks and very tasty food.
The food is good and interesting. There is a disconnect between the kitchen and the wait staff. We have eaten there twice with reservations. The first time we waited 15 to 20 minutes to get a beverage. We ordered a couple of appetizers and our meal. The appetizer came but the meal only arrived after an hour. The manager had come by when we were having our appetizer and asked if we had ordered and we said yes. When we inquired after 45 minutes about our meal we were told we should have asked earlier. They lost our "slip" in the kitchen.
The 2nd time there were 3 of us and it was busy so were patient for 20 minutes and then we flagged down a waiter and asked if we could be served. 20 minutes later 2 of us received our drinks and the 3rd did not. I asked 3 X for her glass of wine. We had ordered food and an hour later 2 of us were served but the 3rd person was not. I asked 3X where her dinner was and finally they brought it. People at the table next to us said they had a problem getting their drinks. Perhaps more help? Training?
For me food is the absolute bottom line
The serviche was delicious especially the tuna
The risotto was also done very well creamy, a little spice and the beef was extremely delicious.
I was very disappointed with the ravioli. The pasta seemed gelatinous , pumpkin too sweet and the sauce seemed like a thick tasteless white sauce that was too gloppy
Great potential . Just need to work on a few of the dishes
The service was wonderful
We celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary here and in preparation for a trip we are taking to Peru next month. We were impressed with the cocktails (bartender Nick took great care of us), and we love Pisco now! The ceviche sampler was awesome, and our entrees were amazing! We will definitely be back.
We went out on a limb and came in for the first time for our anniversary dinner. Food was great, loved the ceviche trio. Service was great; friendly and attentive. We will be back
