Aya Sofia Ratings and Reviews
This has been our go-to place for a number of years, but we are done now. The menu has never changed (even the "off menu specials" are the same each time). We noticed that the items we order all the time seemed off this time. The rice had been better, and this time seemed like rice a roni. The Adana Kabap had been in two sections, and this time was one long section-and drier than usual. The pepper on the plate had added a bit of heat, and this time was bland. The slaw seemed less fresh. A silly thing: the plate was square, but slid around as I was cutting the meat-so asked for a cloth napkin to put between the plate and the table, which worked. A sharper knife would have helped to cut through the meat and pepper, and pita easier. A shame-we really liked Aya Sofia.
We decided to go there for Sunday breakfast. Food was very good. They have a variety of dishes to choose from to meet most tastes. The bloody Mary I had was excellent. The server, Jeff, did a great job. The amount of food was plenty and the two of us had leftovers for later. Definitely worth going back for breakfast and we will come back and try their dinner service.
Four of us had dinner here this week, and everyone was happy with food and service. Recommend: shrimp kebob (succulent, hot & perfectly cooked), house salad (big enough for two, with a nice vinaigrette dressing), meatball dish, whole fish special - again, perfectly cooked, steaming hot from kitchen and delicious. They have Turkish and other wines. Some tried Turkish - it was good, and some went with tried & true. This is a cute place, and the servers were really nice. It's not cheap, but other places would charge more for comparable dinner. Highly recommend.
I’m a vegetarian and there wasn’t a whole lot for me on the menu but, they have salad and falafel. The portion were generous. The waiter we had was nice, helpful and attentive. I probably wouldn’t choose to eat there again on my own but if suggested I would go. I’m not sure how late they’re open but this place would be an excellent late night spot after drinks.
My husband and I picked Aya Sofia to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary. We sat outside and the ambiance we very pleasant. Perhaps a little more casual than we thought it would be, but the weather was great. The olive tapenade appetizer was FANTASTIC and I ordered a gyro, but it was huge and very good. I think my husband was a little disappointed by the size of his order, but overall we were very pleased.
This was our first visit to Aya Sofia. We recently moved in to the neighborhood and saw the positive reviews on Yelp. We were not disappointed. We were seated immediately when we arrived. The hostess was very friendly and seated us in a booth which is very private and had a romantic feel. Our waiter, Dave, was excellent. He walked us through the menu and made some great recommendations. We tried the grilled salmon fillet and the kofte. Both were excellent. We can’t wait to go back and try some other dishes. We would not hesitate to recommend this place to our friends.
Enjoying the lovely evening on the patio, our small group had a very nice time - especially appreciating the delicious cold appetizer sampler plate! I would return just to eat it again! The tabouli and hummus were very good and my son thought the baked feta, a real treat. I also REALLY loved the tasty "Turkish Macaroni and Cheese!" We also ordered each type of kebab, but didn't them as well as the other things. All and all, our experience at Aya Sofia was good and I look forward to returning for that sampler plate of Mediterranean tapas.
AYA SOPHIA IS A BEAUTIFUL TURKISH RESTAURANT. WE WERE THERE TO CELEBRATE MY WIFE'S BIRTHDAY COZY BOOTHS & TABLES. WONDERFUL FOOD. GREAT LAMB DISHES. WONDERFUL APPETIZERS. i HAD THE NIGHTLY SPECIAL OF SWORD FISH STEAK. ENJOYED IT IMMENSELY. THE DESSERTS ARE EXOTIC & DELICIOUS. SERVICE IS ATTENTIVE WITHOUT BEING INTRUSIVE. A LITTLE EXPENSIVE, BUT GREAT PLACE FOR A SPECIAL OCCASION.
Great restaurant, intimate dining area with a patio, food very consistently good, lovely place for lunch or dinner. We made a reservation for two for lunch, had a booth and the kabob lunch special. It's so tasty, it's hard to explore the menu and try new things.
