Great food and excellent service.
You can’t ask for more.
Our server was outstanding...we asked a lot of questions about the dishes and she answered them all. They have a lot of small plates which is good for sharing. Food came out super fast and everyone enjoyed what they ordered. There is a nice patio which we did not use because it was a cool evening. About a half block from Ted Drewes, so we did not get dessert at the restaurant. My only complaint is the parking lot which is tiny, but but there is street parking nearby.
Everything was fantastic from cocktails to appetizers to main course ! Fresh food prepared perfectly . We enjoyed the sampler appetizer platter which included ,home made hummus, tabouli. stuffed grape leaves and. Light crispy phyllo dough filled with goat cheese and spinach . Our main courses which included lamb shank , grilled swordfish and a whole grilled Mediterranean fish were all delicious ! We will definitely be back and make this a regular visiting restaurant !!
A good place to dine with friends. But their moussaka does not have a bechamel sauce, despite what is stated on the menu.
Had a great anniversary dinner and experience! Lively, but also intimate setting.
The most flavorful meal that I've had in a while! The cocktails were wonderful and the service was great. Definitely going again.
Very pleasant and affordable. I liked the unique wine list and we relied on our server to select one for us. I loved that my side vegetables were fresh and so nicely prepared. Comfortable, quiet, and affordable!
Excellent food and service. If you haven’t been, you are missing out. Talented chef, wonderful staff, and pistachio liquor. Always a cut above!
We’ve enjoyed Aya Sofia for dinner both inside and on their patio over the years and this hidden gem is now our new favorite place for Sunday brunch! Their menu includes American favorites and creative Mediterranean items. The vegetable breakfast skillet was the best I’ve ever had and I took home enough for two additional meals.
Extremely friendly staff and delicious food!! A definite must
A great location with good food and fast service. The kebabs were well seasoned, lamb was tender. I wish there was larger amount of hummus on the appetizer menu but tasted good and was somewhat unique. Warm meza hit the spot, and easily served us all ( 4 adults) and fit perfected into the main courses.
I made a reservation prior to my visit. I arrived 5 minutes late, but the hostess seated us immediately. The wait staff was exceptionally polite, knowledgeable and very attentive. The ambiance was perfect for those looking to actually have a conversation. It was dim, but not too dark. It was surprisingly quiet despite the amount of people. Very pleasant experience and we can't wait to go back again.
Delightful atmosphere; good service; great food! Always a treat!
This was my first visit to Aya Sophia. I received a gift certificate and went with my daughter and granddaughter. The service was good and quick. The food was delicious and served hot. The ambience is lovely although the acoustics left a bit to be desired or the people sitting behind us in booth behind us were talking exceptionally loud. I would recommend it and will definitely try it again.
Waiter and busboy were great.
Aya Sofia was a great find for our Saturday night dinner. Staff was friendly and helpful, ambiance was cozy and casual. We all enjoyed our meal selections though it was hard to make a decision on which one. I chose the dolma - baked stuffed peppers and had enough to take home for lunch the following day. Look forward coming back and trying some different menu items.
Four of us went for dinner last weekend. The place was hopping, which makes me happy for their business. In spite of a full house, our server was prompt and diligent. Most memorable items were Kofte (deliciously spiced large meatballs) and Balik (whole, grilled fresh fish). The wine is reasonable and a good buy for the money. Only item not perfect for our tastebuds was the table - too much garlic for us. This is our second time here. Will be back!
Great food but the restaurant is quite noisy - try to get one of the booths with curtains instead!
Great food, I was very disappointed they did not have mint tea to accompany dinner.
Great time here with good food and service!
My husband and I took some out of town friends and their grown children to Aye Sofia after the Fox Theater. We did not know what to expect. Our bartender was extremely educated about the restaurant and the menu itself. Our waiter was fairly new, but we enjoyed taking risks on our food and enjoyed every single dish. We had a blast and I would highly recommend it!
It was so delicious! Just go to wake up your taste buds and experience something new and exciting. We will go back for seating on the patio when it gets warmer!
Having lived in Turkey for two years, it was very nice to have a meal that reminded me of the people of Turkey; I miss them. Thank you for letting me take a walk down memory lane.
Almost as good as eating in Istanbul. The iskender was awesome. Great service and atmosphere. I read that it was kid friendly and my kids did great but I wouldnt recommend taking young kids with picky eating habits.
Food was excellent, authentic, and surprising. Service was personal, engaging, and competent. In the top ten for ethnic dinners in the stl area.
Took a friend there for lunch. Delicious!
Awesome food! Awesome service! We will come back.
Quiet, charming place with great food, reasonable prices.
I had a wonderful time. This couldn't have been a better post Valentine's day dinner. Sorry we were there for 3 hour but it was perfect! See you soon.
Love the prix fixe menu for Valentine's Day. It was delicious! Thank you!
St. Louis is incredibly fortunate to have such a spectacular Turkish restaurant. The owner is Turkish and has a menu that's very similar to food we had when we were in Turkey. Deliciously spiced but not "hot", just very complex flavors, strong but not overwhelming, rich and luxurious. The food is cooked perfectly. We've been there many times and it's never once disappointed. Try to get a booth if you can, just a bit more charming.
Few cities actually have a Turkish restaurant, let alone a really great one like this. It's a jewel in our town.
Our Valentines dinner was fantastic! I can't wait to go back and try the regular menu.
Totally enjoyable atmosphere and service, good selection of delicious food, and reasonable prices. We were with another couple who also had a wonderful experience. We talked and ate for hours! Our server gave us just the right amount of attention and was very responsive to all of our requests and questions. Will definitely come again.
The food was excellent and our server was very nice and attentive. We enjoyed the atmosphere. Very clean and the decor served to establish a very nice atmosphere.
Can’t say enough about how excellent the food is. We had four in our party and everyone was very pleased. Will definitely return.
The food was wonderful and the setting was great too. We were there for an anniversary dinner and requested a romantic table, which worked out fine, but we felt we were being rushed the entire time we were there. We were barely into our appetizer before the entree came out. They also were pulling our plates before we were finished, it was strange. Our server seemed bothered that we wanted a dessert. I understand that waiters need to turn over their tables to make more money, but there were lots of empty tables all around us. Perhaps we're not the demographic the restaurant wants, or he assumed we were poor tippers.
I have been eating at Aya Sofia since they opened their doors. My wife and I lived in the neighborhood, and we ate their weekly (either dining in or carry out). The wait staff has always been exceptional, and we have never been disappointed with our wine selection. Chef Mehmet is an extremely talented chef, and we have been fortunate to get to know him over the years. Aya Sofia strikes a great balance between fine and casual dining. The patrons typically range from folks in jeans to people dressed to go to the symphony. You can always count on a great meal, and leaving full. If you haven't tried it, you definitely should.
This was our first time at Aya Sofia. ...we loved it. The food was amazing, well seasoned and a varied menu. Staff was wonderful. Can't wait to return for another delicious meal!
first time visit and I was impressed. Great atmosphere. The meat pie appetizer was excellent and very flavorful. The lamb shank was fall off the bone tender and delicious as was the beef/lamb meatballs. The coffee pudding(?) dessert was thick as tar but with a superb taste. Definitely worth the trip.
My husband really enjoyed this place... I just wished I would of asked for my beef well done
