Our party of 4 ate here Saturday, August 7th and we were all very impressed by both our meals and experience. Service was excellent. We shared two of the appetizer specials, a burrata with a grilled peach bruschetta and balsamic drizzle, and a grilled eggplant salad that was just bursting with unique flavors. The servings were ample enough for all of four of us to enjoy some of each one, and both were definite hits with our table. Our entrees included a salmon special, a chicken dish and a pasta dish with seafood - all delicious. We will most certainly return soon!

I thought it was good overall. The calamari appetizer wasn't very good. My cavatelli entree was very good. I thought everything was over priced. But the cost of doing business is more expensive so I guess the high prices are justified. I dont think Pompton Lakes will support this business with these prices.
My husband and I had dinner with another couple, our very close friends, last evening and had such a wonderful meal. The staff at Axton's are so attentive and the atmosphere is so warm and inviting. We particularly loved the wall of French Doors and the very unique wine bottle wall decor that you would expect to find at an Old World Winery Tasting Room. This is our first visit to Axton's and I am sure it will not be our last. We shared the Clams Casino and Jekyll and Hyde Calamari and although both appetizers were delicious, my favorite was the Clams Casino. Our entrees consisted of Anton's Filet, Bistecca, Scallops Basilico and Chicken David and we all agreed that the entrees were all delicious and the portions were more than generous. Our thanks to Chef Anton Testino and his team for a very memorable dining experience.
We love this place! We brought my daughter and boyfriend from California here and everyone raved about the delicious meals. The Jekyl and Hyde calamari is fabulous, risotto, pasta, and seafood done perfectly. Topped off with strawberry cannoli crepes! Our waitress, Francesca is a gem!
Oh, the bread is delicious! Axton's pork dish is fantastic. Best I ever had! Filet mignon was superb. will be back soon.
It was a party if 5 adults, and we couldn’t stop raving of each other’s meal. Of course is not our first time eating here, but every time we bring new friends to try Chef Anton’s food it seems like a first time to us.
Plus you cannot ask for better service, they treat you like family!

ASIDE FROM MY DISH, THE THE OTHER THREE MEALS WERE OUTSTANDING. MY RISOTTO SCALLOPS BASILLICO, WAS NOT TO MY LIKING - THE SCALLOPS WERE OUTSTANDING, BUT THE RISOTTO WAS MUSHY.
THE CEILING FANS WERE BLOWING TTO HIGH, AND VERY ANNOYING.
The food and service were excellent. The risotto was prepared perfectly. We'll definitely go back.
Pleasant room. Interesting menu. Loved the stuffed eggplant app. Excellent red sauce (gravy). Bronzino with home made pasta and broccoli rabe in a sherry sauce is very good. Overall very nice experience

Probably the best meal we have had since moving to Kinnelon 8 years ago! The pork special was out of this world! The bread was outstanding. Everything was just wonderful. Will definitely return. BYO is a special bonus! Very unassuming restaurant. Wonderful!
Look forward to his scallop dishes as the scallops melt in your mouth. Always a good meal.
My Chicken Pompton was very generous and the presentation very nice. The overly sweet caramelized onions and the soupy mushy pasta disappointed me. There was a minuscule amount of spinach. There is one waitress so it took a while to order but the food was perfectly hot and came out promptly. My friend ordered the salmon he said it was delicious but got sick about an hour after we finished the meal.
I think the food combinations on the menu are not good. Pork with Scallops and Filet Mignon with scallops???
"Less is more" is a good motto.
The food was excellent, but did not care for the way our order of garlic bread was prepared, as it was completely covered with cheese. Our salads and entrees however were excellent.
The service was also excellent.

Very underwhelmed with the desert. I ordered the cannoli filled crape topped with whip cream, fresh strawberries, and chocolate drizzle. What I got was a cold somewhat rubbery rolled crape filled with done tile of cream. There was no fresh strawberries, no whipped cream , instead a few slivered of old stewed indistinguishable strawberries. Very disappointing!
The website also mentioned home made pasta so I ordered linguine with clam sauce. What I got was boxed pasta with chopped clams surrounded by a dozen whole clams.

Our first time here and from the moment we entered we were greeted and treated so warmly. Staff is very friendly and attentive. Our waitress was wonderful and very patient when we asked her to repeat the specials. The food was excellent. We ordered the two appetizer specials, the calamari and the burrata, both were excellent. Our entrees were also very delicious . The crepe filled with cannoli cream was to die for. Definitely recommend and will be returning .
Axtons is by far one of the best restaurants I’ve been to. From the moment you walk in you feel like family. The staff takes care of you to your every need. The food is perfection. If you haven’t been there you need to go and eat there.
Came here with my lovely wife FINALLY... after very, very limited visits to any restaurant anywhere. (Due to covid obviously)
Since there were not many people in at 6pm, the service was excellent! (I'm sure it's just as good during the busy hours too!)
We had their Jekyll and Hyde calamari and a NJ tomato salad as shared appetizers, which we both enjoyed.
My wife had the Francesca's bronzini (with shrimp) served on a bed of linguini... which she thoroughly enjoyed.
I had the chicken scampi (with shitake mushrooms). While the menu says 'shredded chicken' the dish came with a slices chicken breast. No problem, although I do love shredded anything. The breast was slightly overcooked, but then again, when is a chicken breast not over cooked in ANY restaurant. Fortunately, the sauce was plentiful and the breast still tender, it all made for a great meal that I would order again.
Since it's a BYO and we enjoyed ourselves so much... I'm sure we'll be back soon.
I never complain when someone else does the cooking but for $32+ I expect something by a professional to be better than what I can do. It's disappointing when it's not.
Scallops oreganato over risotto and braised spinach sounded amazing however, oreganato should be crisp lemony breadcrumbs on top of seared scallops. Unfortunately, there was some brown saucy/broth that made the scallops look grey, they were mushy as was the topping. The spinach was wet and never would I ever think there was too much cheese in anything however, the risotto was loaded. Sadly disappointed. So many other things on the menu sound amazing so it's worth going again. Probably just an off night. Bummed since I haven't been out to dinner since December.
Food was delicious my only reason for not giving 5 stars on food was my dish was over salted seafood marichiano everything else was delicious
Chef Anton consistently delivers delicious and creative meals. I never pass on the delectable eggplant salad. I tried the chicken scampi risotto this time and it is incredibly flavorful. Not a single complaint from our table of four who all ate completely different appetizers, dinners and desserts. Always a knockout!!!
I have been to Axton’s many times. The service and food are always amazing!
We hadn't been to Axtons since 2019 and this time we were with a couple who had never been to Axtons. We all agreed that our meals were all very tasty from appetizer to entrées to desserts. We were also surprised by the generous portions too. We ended up taking home the leftovers for another meal at home. We will definitely be returning.
The menu was very different and the food was full of flavor and taste. It was an excellent experience but very noisy, perhaps some cloth on the ceiling would help but something should be done for the noise because the food is amazing.
This is our second time at Axton’s and we were thrilled once again! We remembered the homemade bread fondly, and it was as delicious as we remembered! We both had variations of seafood risotto and both were fabulous. Chef came out for a chat which is always a charming touch. The BYOB factor is a plus for us. Love this place and we’ll be back for sure!

Anton’s specials for Easter were delicious. My husband enjoyed the Monkfish, and I had steak with a fantastic fresh fig sauce, accompanied by mashed potatoes with crab. The potatoes were amazing. I never would have thought that the addition of crab meat would kick it up to that level. Plus spinach too. The service is always impeccable.

Absolutely amazing dining experience. Hot antipasto, crab cakes, caprese, two risotto dishes and four entrees…all cooked to perfection! Everything had just the right amount of seasoning, the presentation was beautiful and the staff was attentive. We will DEFINITELY be back. Great job Axton’s!!
