Axel's - Roseville
Excellent service and food quality. Very nice environment. Wait staff remained attentive and accommodating. Axel's has become my go to chop house for special occasions.
Our table was ready as booked and I was greeted warmly. The food was good and we were pleased with our selections. Our waitress was attentive and brought our orders in good time. The room was quiet enough for us to converse and take care of our business meeting.
My father said it was the best prime rib he had in a long time. He is difficult to impress with food.
A bit more wait staff would have been good for the holiday. But, that is my only negative. I also understand that help is usually short on holidays.
We do the Thanksgiving buffet every year and always love it! The food is wonderful and there is a lot of variety. We have gone at many different times and the wIt is always short and the service friendly. Great job!
This review is for Axel's Thanksgiving Buffet...the variety of food was amazing (crepes, omeletes, Belgian waffles, desserts galore, and this is all in addition to regular Thanksgiving food), but a few dishes didn't deliver. Do NOT put cranberries in the stuffing! (In case you didn't notice, people rarely took it, and that is usually an extremely popular Thanksgiving dish.) Turkey legs were super dried out (don't bother with them...the carved turkey was fantastic), and my kids were hoping for Chocolate Chips for the crepes. Otherwise, the food was really, really great.
The biggest issue is that this buffet is WAY OVERCROWDED! I'm guessing in order to make money on this gig ($38/head!), you HAVE to serve lots of people, but I wasn't expecting a 500+ guest wedding in a hotel ballroom! So-so-so many elderly people with walkers & wheelchairs, and it was just a NIGHTMARE for them to get around! Tables are set up like a wedding (sharing tables with multiple groups), very little room to walk in between tables, and WAY OVERWORKED wait staff! All they had to do was bring you beverages - it's a buffet - and we had to find a way to get our beverages refilled twice because our waitress never checked back on us! She was nice, but just had way too many tables.
The demand vs. supply of restaurants serving a traditional Thanksgiving meal is just too high. I appreciate the attempt to meet this demand, but given it is a FAMILY Holiday, it just isn't set up well for elderly & handicapped folks. It was also SUPER loud, so my elderly Mom with her hearing aids couldn't hear any of us talking to her. Like I said, it was like having Thanksgiving meal at your cousin's HUGE wedding at a hotel ballroom.
Axel's made celebrating Thanksgiving easy and everyone got what they wanted!
We went for dinner for the Tuesday crab legs all you can eat and it was amazing, great crab legs and other items as well, our service was spectacular!! We will definitely be back. It did seem to be rather noisy in there though however it was very busy so that probably added to the extra noise.
Had crab leg special - great value. All food was great!
Always a wonderful meal and excellent service. Great place to meet up with friends or an intimate dinner for two.
Great lunch venue with excellent food and super service.
Great customer service with added bonus of cake for bride to be and food was tasty and good portions.
Good food and the lunch prices are good. Good service from the bartender.
Birthday celebration. Very enjoyable!
Crabby Tuesdays was very good! Service was great! Waitress noticed when drinks were almost gone and same with crab legs
Overall, a positive night. We went there so my partner could enjoy a nice steak or seafood. As a vegetarian, I knew my options would be limited, but wasn't prepared for how limited. I ordered a salad and a couple of sides. I wasn't loving the dressing and was very disappointed at how charcoal burnt my vegetables were. But, my fiance LOVED his prime rib, so it was a successful night. We went there for him, and he was happy.
Wow! A quiet Friday night here. Kathy was our server and made us feel so at home. Everything couldn’t have been better.
Our reliable go-to spot for relaxing family dinners with great food, wine, and service!
House special Walleye for $32 wasn’t worth $32. Tasted fine but not memorable. Great French onion soup. Birthday cake gift for my wife was outstanding and appreciated the free bonus. Noisy. Server was delayed for about 10 minutes before we could order. She apologized but it seemed odd since there were plenty of servers. Not bad. Just not worth expecting something great.
Had a drink at the bar, bartender was awesome. Fast service, great drinks.
Seated at 7:20 p.m. at 7:35 asked one of the servers if there was someone who was going to wait on us. Her response was, "yeah" and then walked away. Five minutes later our server came to the table and took our drink order. Delivered our drinks quickly and then walked away before we could ask if we could order. Came back over 10 minutes later. So over 30 minutes after we were seated, finally took our order. Noticed the table next to us had their entrees delivered and had to ask for their salads. Ours were delivered in the right order and with good pace. Three of us had the filet and it was so flavorless we had to put salt on it. Finally, we sat waiting for several minutes after the bills were brought out. The server came to our table and said she was in the back doing her work and had forgotten we were out there.
Overall a really disappointing evening. Thankfully we had great company to pass the time. We won't be back.
This is a great place for a special occasion. The atmosphere is intimate yet well-lit, allowing for great conversation. Each person ordered something different and yet the comment was the same: "This is delicious!!" From the hummus appetizer, to jumbo coconut butterfly shrimp, to BBQ ribs, to the Bourbon Burger, to the scallops - all was delicious. The sides of quinoa wild rice and green beans were outstanding. Add to that the great service and ample parking - this is definitely a place we will visit multiple times.
Food was good, Bull Bites were a bit too spicy!
Delicious prime rib and seared scallops. Ribs were good although the sauce wasn't great. The Old Fashioned cocktail was very good.
Very good food and excellent service! Will definitely visit again!
I liked the decor and that we could hear our own conversation.
Our go-to place for special family dinners and out-of-town guests, and this dinner was great as usual. Terrific food with our favorite server, Kathy!
The soup of the day was not good at all. Other food was fine but not great.
Great food and selection choice! Service is friendly and efficient. Large round table worked well for our business meeting! We will be back!
My expectations were met. Service was good but our salmon and swordfish dinners were overcooked.
the sirloin and risotto was very good. For a higher end restaurant I would of thought the outside seating area would have been more attended to. flowers needed attention. floor needed cleaning - wood chips blown all over from the prior day to two.
We had a very enjoyable lunch. Kelly is a great waitress and always makes us feel welcome. Kudos to her. And the food was delicious. We'll be back soon.
My husband & I went for the Sunday brunch. No one was there to great us. Someone came & told us to find a table. We waited quite awhile for the buffet to open. While we were at the buffet someone did put ice water on the table. Half way through our meal someone came & asked how everything was. After we paid we were extremely disappointed in the service. No one ever came and asked us if we wanted anything to drink. My husband wanted coffee & I was hoping to have a Bloody Mary. That never happened. The restaurant was never busy and no one seemed interested in us. A very very disappointing meal!
The food was amazing and the service outstanding. Our server treated us like family ensuring our dining experience met our expectations.
Small dining area and felt cramped. Steaks were not prepared as requested and most vegetables were over cooked. Live worm (yes, an inch worm) was on one of the plates. While the manager replated the meal and reduced the tab for that plate, it ruined the meal for all four of us. Based on this experience, I can not recommend this restaurant.
I've been to Axel's in Chanhassen several times and the food is always good. That is the same for this location as well with the exception that I got violently sick from the food. Everyone at our table pretty much ate the same thing; shared apps of walleye fingers and buffalo bites. Two of us, including myself, had the AYCE Crab and we even shared tastes of the crab with the rest of our party but I am the one that got sick. The only thing I had that no one else had was Iced Tea which I sent back as it was rancid like it was sitting out or was made many days ago. Maybe the rancid tea was the one thing that set my stomach a-blaze. Unfortunately due to this experience we will not return.
Terrific dinner with visiting family. Great food and service from Kathy who also volunteered to take some family photos which turned out great. Axel's Roseville is our go-to place for memorable family dinners!
Server was slow in getting to us. Checked our watch a few times before anyone came to take our order. The food was good, portion size was generous. Flavor was good but not impressive. I had the crab legs while my wife ordered the salmon. Popovers were a nice beginning to the dinner. Overall, I liked the meal and would probably go back.
Service was very slow even though it wasn’t busy. Food was ok and thought for the price it should have been much better. Everything was very greasy. Lack of variety for healthier items on the menu.
Service was great
This is a great place to dine, I brought someonehere on a date and loved the experience. Not many places left for all you can eat crab, but this is one of the best.
Service was gteat, food was good and we could carry on a conversation
