Always good food and waitresses
Had a great table in the back room for our group of 7! Lovely bday dinner! Steak done to perfection!!
As always, Axel's NEVER lets us down. The food was scrumptious, and perfectly prepared. And the service, from Michelle, was outstanding! Axel's is our favorite!!!
I love Axel's. It's my favorite restaurant. I love the food and it's so cozy, I want to live inside the restaurant!
Fond memories of Linda....I know she's still pleased with the legacy she left there....
Server Michelle provided a wonderful dining experience.
I've never had a bad meal at this location. Wonderful staff and food is always done just right. The only disappointment on this visit was their signature pop-overs. I always remembered them as being fresh and perfect. On this visit, they were microwaved and soggy...no thanks. Still, that would not keep me from returning. The appetizers are especially great.
Always a great meal. Good for a nice catch up with friends and family... summer time great spot for patio seating.
I am never disappointed at the Mendota Axel's. Service was great, both at the bar and at the table. Attentive but not intrusive staff. The menu offers great options. Steaks are done as ordered, vegetables are never soggy. One my favorite places for lunch, dinner, brunch or happy hour.
The waitress was the best, the walleye was fantastic. Went for our anniversary and had a good time. Will be back soon.
The food was excellent and the service was as well. We were seated immediately. The server was very knowledgeable and helpful with suggestions. The food came out quickly, was hot, and presented well on the plate. We will be going back soon.
My party and I attended the Easter brunch. Although I love going to dinner at Axels, we'll never go back for the Easter brunch. Not enough to choose from for the $34 apiece. Could've thrown in a complimentary beverage (coke, coffee, tea, juice) with that price. Need more dinner entrees for folks going later in the day, including a bigger selection of salads and some hot vegetables. Too many egg dishes and french toast sticks. Some fresh made waffles would be nice for the breakfast crowd.
We were there for the Easter buffet. My husband understands that it is difficult to get good seafood in MN, however your assortment was embarrassing. The prime rib was impossible to enjoy due to the knives provided with the table setting. We could not cut through the meat. Some of the fruit was very good while other pieces weren’t ripe. The salads were soggy due to too much salad dressing. The ribs, eggs and potatoes were good.
Amazing food and genuinely friendly service!
We went for Crab night and it was awesome. Our server Michelle was superb and really made our night. One of Mendota’s fun spots for great food.
Excellent food & service every time.
First time having brunch here. Nice booths in the bar area. Food was good as well as service. Really like having the choice of a popover or pecan roll to start brunch.
Michelle wonderful server
Birthday lunch for me and my cousin
Second time around. First time was a fantastic happy hour. This time a midday Sunday meal -a mixed bag. Friend’s steak and eggs were fantastic. My chicken, with sauce was disappointing. Very heavy with garlic in the white sauce. Menu indicated mushrooms with sauce and didn’t see a one. Replaced with halved grapes. Chicken on the dry side. Kale coleslaw had good flavor but was soggy. Caesar salad was decent and dressing was outstanding.
Great food with Great service. The atmosphere was nice but next time I’ll ask for a booth since the table were a bit crowded.
The food was absolutely scrumptious! Both of our meals were delicious and cooked to perfection. Our server, Sam, was outstanding. She was extremely attentive, professional and very friendly- great personality. The entire staff at Axel's, from Louise, the Manager, to the people at the front, to our favorite servers- Michelle, Sam, Maria, Theresa and Greta, are all OUTSTANDING!!! Everyone there makes you feel so welcome and special. We love Axel's- the food, the service, the ambiance and the value. You can't beat it!
Service was great food was good
The place is charming from the manager greeting on through dinner. It's a little old school in its approach with low lighting and mill work interior, but it all adds up to a great little spot for quiet conversation and good food.
Service, food and ambience were great as usual. No complaints!
3 steaks and all three were under-cooked. 2 sent back. 1 was not hot, luke warm....should have sent that one back too. Popovers were doughy, baked potato looked terrible...skin had odd color. Green beans were excellent.
We had a reservation for 4. They put us at a table for 6. So noisy, it made it very difficult to hear across the table. Will not go back.
Very nice all around! Very nice all around! Very nice all around! Very nice all around! Very nice all around! Very nice all around! Very nice all around! Very nice all around!
Five of us met for a birthday dinner at 5 p.m. on a Friday. We had a great table and a great waitress, Michelle. We never felt rushed. The drinks were good, the food was good, and the service was excellent. Can't think of a thing to complain about.
I enjoyed the filet and lobster tail. The salad and french onion soup was great. The Brussel sprouts were not cooked long enough and had a weird tang to them. I did not enjoy them nor did I like the risotto side dish. Overall I enjoyed my meal. Service was great!
Fantastic service, and great food for the price. They were super attentive, and the whole staff helped each other's tables.
The shrimp Risotto was way overboard on fishy taste, the risotto was thick and pasty.
Love Axels...love the old Supper Club feel to it. Michelle was our Server -she rocked it!
We had another great time at Axel's. Nice ambiance, good drinks, great food, and awesome service.
Always a treat to dine at this Twin Cities icon, particularly on a special occasion.
Really enjoyed the dinner. It wasn't special but it was good all around. It was truly enhanced by our server Terri who was attentive and friendly.
Greta was our server and she was fantastic. We had reservations at 6:00 and were seated on time.
We were there for the all the crab legs you wanted to eat, and we did just that! Great green beans too!
Our table had walleye, coconut shrimp and salmon. All was excellent. Wait staff are excellent. Parking is easy. Great happy hour menu
Our go to restaurant for all special events. The service is usually top notch and most of the menu items are as well. Avoid the Tues crab leg special. They are over priced and not very good.
Lunch with a business contact/mentor was great. The food was very good, especially the popovers. Our server, Sydney was fabulous.
The steaks were average at best but all other food was good. Service is always friendly!
