Awadh is certainly the best Indian restaurant on the Upper West Side.
Went here on a birthday date. They served dishes akin to what I had in Agra, with decadent and rich North Indian flavors and Perfumes of cardamom. Great food. Wait staff was knowledgeable about gluten free foods and very professional. Literally a lovely place with great, authentic food, and accommodating staff. Highly recommended.
Lovely meal. Good service. Attentive bartender.
Beautiful delicious food in a range on Indian flavors so perfectly balanced that it redefined my pallet. Rad.
The food was excellent. I was dismayed by the NYC B grade posted in the window.
Dinner was exceptional—probably best Indian food we ever had. The complexity of the spices in different dishes was noticeable. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful.
I love this restaurant. It has always been consistently good. My friend and I go there often and almost always order the same dishes. One of the dishes, the Khaas Korma, was bland and not up to the usual flavor. We should have said something but we didn’t. My favorite dessert is Rasmalai, which isn’t on the menu, but I can always get it and it is fabulous! The rest of the meal and service were superb. Just a bit disappointed with the Korma.
Absolutely fabulous food. Impeccably prepared and presented. I will definitely return.
The server didn’t verify our order when we placed it and it was messed up. Missed the extra rice and a main dish. Food was slow to arrive and were rushed as we had tickets to a show nearby. Food was good some unique items but charging for the papad is nonsense.
Good food at decent prices. Excellent service. Somewhat boisterous on a Saturday night.
Our dinner was delicious. The portions were great for sharing multiple dishes with the group. There was a lot of kitchen smoke in the restaurant towards the end of our meal so we ended up leaving sooner than we would have preferred because our eyes were watering. However, the meal was really good and I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
Well prepared dishes with fresh ingredients and flavorful sauces, excellent friendly service, comfortable atmosphere.
This is one of my favorite restaurants because of the array of wonderful dishes, the decor and the attentive, friendly service. We've tried all of the lamb dishes and each one is better than the last. The Saag (spinach dish) is one of the best i've tasted, with or without lamb, and the cauliflower, crispy okra and spiced sweet potato appetizers are divine. Vegetarians will not be disappointed at the choices. The quality of the dishes never fail to disappoint.
Best Indian restaurant in Manhattan. Will definitely come again.
Tiny, not fancy restaurant with really good Indian Food.
Waiters standing around talking to each other and not giving service, dirty bathroom, dirty menus, waiter had no idea about any of the dishes, nothing for our vegan friend to eat (in an Indian restaurant??)
We walked out
Tight space, but truly some of the best Indian food you will find anywhere. Period.
Loved this restaurant, a new fave on the Upper West Side.
As always... amazing. I took 4 friends who were somewhat skeptical about my rave reviews and to a person they were blown away. I have to say that while the entrees are excellent it is the appetizers as usual that were sublime. I once went and did appetizers only and was not disappointed. The amazing thing about every dish are the subtle flavors that quietly make them selves know to you with each new bite. I never thought an Indian restaurant would start to climb to my Top Ten list in NY but Awadh slowly has. I'll be back.
Excellent meal, very good service in a beautiful atmosphere
Disappointed. Rigid menu. One dish with white meat chicken. Limited
My food was good but my husband’s was not. Worse naan i have ever eaten. You feel smoke from the kitchen in your eyes. Waiter was like a zombie- not really listening.
This restaurant came highly recommended , so we were surprised when the lamb was tough and the chicken over-salted. The mushroom dish was very good.
Food is delicious. Wait staff is attentive.
An upscale Indian restaurant on Broadway btwn 97/8. Definitely better food than the usual Upper West Side Indian place. Rich sauces, well seasoned, good variety. Service professional for the most part. The space is a bit small. On weekends the upstairs may be open - a place with more elbow room. We've been there often and plan to go again soon.
A great find, thanks to other reviewers. The food is excellent and, this is rare among Indian restaurants in NYC, differently spiced. We really enjoyed the subtly new tastes. The space downstairs is small and, while it doesn't feel crowded, there can be a problem with noise level.
Food is great and the room on second floor is very nice. But without special help you are sitting on the ground floor which is unpleasant.
We very much enjoyed our dinner at Awadh. Appetizers are especially interesting and I recommend focusing of them when you choose your dinner. We were given a complimentary dessert which was very gracious. Just wish they had a more interesting beer selection! Wine was good.
Delicious food, reasonably priced, polite service, pleasant atmosphere.
incredible food, great service, great surprise, we enjoyed a lot
Excellent food, great ambience - good portion size. Good service. Highly recommend for a go-to delicious traditional Indian spot on the UWS.
nice looking restaurant and tasty food - it was a bit noisy with large parties and families at 6PM on a sunday evening - when i return i'd just go at a different time
Excellent, authentic Indian food. Great service. The staff is amazing! One of my favorite Indian restaurants in NYC.
I was very pleased with the variety of the menu, and the quality of the food. The service was very attentive, allowing us to sit and talk-never rushing us one bit. The "warm" towels were a delight.
My only negative comment is that there were wines and beers listed that were not available.
refined service and delicious food nicely presented with a good wines by the glass list.
Excellent food; great service and a lovely setting
Simply delicious Indian food with dishes I've not seen elsewhere. Add to that a cozy, modern space and a gracious owner, and you'll understand why we've become regulars at Awadh.
SUPER romantic spot, and we had a sommelier that was incredible with his suggestions - our meal was fantastic! Definitely a 'do-over'.
Awadh is a favorite. Possibly the best Indian food in NYC, certainly among the best. Attractive room, fairly quiet, attentive service, good wines for Indian food. The fried okra is amazing. Every dish is distinctive in flavor. While not cheap, the dishes are rich so we find a couple of appetizers and a main are good for 2.
We brought friends who like Indian food to Awadh and they agreed that this is an unusually good restaurant. The restaurant was quiet enough for us to chat. In many visits here we have never been disappointed.
