Awadh is currently my favorite Indian restaurant in New York. The cuisine is more refined and of a higher quality than any other place in the neighborhood. The flavors are very vivid and distinct, but not over-seasoned. The Biriyani is excellent, and I also recommend the coconut shrimp, which are both spicy and surprisingly light.
Closest to the authentic indian food one could get in NYC.
Service is amazing and food is top notch.
Appetizers were nothing special. Should have skipped it. We had Karrari bhindi and Bhagwan khumb.
For entrees, we had nali ki nihari, murg kaali mirch, allepy fish curry. For someone who has had Indian food throughout the US, UK, Amsterdam, and France, the flavors were definitely distinctive. I enjoyed all three. The only issue was that the menu had lamb shanks (plural) but there was only one shank. The lehsuni naan was good.
The Nihari is pretty great! I recommend it. Palak kebabs - less so. The service was very good. General ambience is good too. I would go back to this restaurant.
Food was excellent. Bathrooms were horrible.
Delectable cuisine served with grace! I have taken people from all walks to eat at Awadh and everyone has come back sining praises abut the heavenly food. Try it. With friends, family or a lover. You will make their evening a happy one!
Excellent food. Pleasant atmosphere. Great service
Mostly terrific. Lamb "specialty* way too salty but both fish and mixed-veg dishes truly superior. Nice folks with good service marred by occasional inattention.
Really interesting, tasty food from a part of India that's not common in the average take-out curry-based Indian food available everywhere. This is special.
Excellent Indian food. The best Indian Restaurant on the upper west side. Love the Biranni.
Staff was not friendly .. and the food was average
Great food. Nice ambiance.
I am handicapped and I am so grateful for how Awadh treated me!
The appetizers were a hit: the giant prawns, the stuffed mushroom, the Raita—all were tasty and rich! And the lamb sag was both meaty and a deliciously cooked/spiced spinach. A wonderful restaurant—and the service was attentive and professional.
This is hands down the best Indian food in all of NYC. If you doubt; note that 90% of the customers were Indian. Just the most flavorful and complex food ever. I went here twice in a week it is that good.
the food is consistently good here. One of the few Indian restaurant with a very good, although limited , wine list.
Came here on my last night in New York and it was the best food we had all week. Absolutely perfect and for a reasonable price (to say you were in new york). The place looked great as well and was a 2 min walk from our hotel so even better. Highly recommend this to anyone
Delicious food, especially tariwalla chicken and Ulta tawa paratha!!
Delicious and good ambiance
We sat for 20 minutes with no service while the table next to us got wine and wine and wine brought to them. I understand that there was a big party, but no one even acknowledged us. So we left and went to Manhattan/Indus Valley up the street and it was a much better experience.
Wonderful, authentic food. The best Tandoori chicken I've ever eaten. Dal was excellent....overall the food is great. Service is indifferent, bordering on unpleasant. However, the food was served in a timely fashion, and we had a very good meal.
Food was amazingly good. It’s always a good sign when patrons are the same ethnicity as the cuisine...I believe it means it’s authentic as well as properly prepared. Waiter was somewhat glum but loosened up as the evening progressed. We sat downstairs and it became very noisy around 9 but the food was so good that we forgive it. Will definitely return.
Good neighborhood Indian restaurant. Appetizers especially delicious. Friendly staff.
The food was excellent and great for sharing.
Awadh is certainly the best Indian restaurant on the Upper West Side.
Fantastic experience! Best Indian cuisine in the city!!
Went here on a birthday date. They served dishes akin to what I had in Agra, with decadent and rich North Indian flavors and Perfumes of cardamom. Great food. Wait staff was knowledgeable about gluten free foods and very professional. Literally a lovely place with great, authentic food, and accommodating staff. Highly recommended.
Lovely meal. Good service. Attentive bartender.
Beautiful delicious food in a range on Indian flavors so perfectly balanced that it redefined my pallet. Rad.
The food was excellent. I was dismayed by the NYC B grade posted in the window.
Dinner was exceptional—probably best Indian food we ever had. The complexity of the spices in different dishes was noticeable. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful.
I love this restaurant. It has always been consistently good. My friend and I go there often and almost always order the same dishes. One of the dishes, the Khaas Korma, was bland and not up to the usual flavor. We should have said something but we didn’t. My favorite dessert is Rasmalai, which isn’t on the menu, but I can always get it and it is fabulous! The rest of the meal and service were superb. Just a bit disappointed with the Korma.
Absolutely fabulous food. Impeccably prepared and presented. I will definitely return.
The server didn’t verify our order when we placed it and it was messed up. Missed the extra rice and a main dish. Food was slow to arrive and were rushed as we had tickets to a show nearby. Food was good some unique items but charging for the papad is nonsense.
Good food at decent prices. Excellent service. Somewhat boisterous on a Saturday night.
Our dinner was delicious. The portions were great for sharing multiple dishes with the group. There was a lot of kitchen smoke in the restaurant towards the end of our meal so we ended up leaving sooner than we would have preferred because our eyes were watering. However, the meal was really good and I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
Well prepared dishes with fresh ingredients and flavorful sauces, excellent friendly service, comfortable atmosphere.
This is one of my favorite restaurants because of the array of wonderful dishes, the decor and the attentive, friendly service. We've tried all of the lamb dishes and each one is better than the last. The Saag (spinach dish) is one of the best i've tasted, with or without lamb, and the cauliflower, crispy okra and spiced sweet potato appetizers are divine. Vegetarians will not be disappointed at the choices. The quality of the dishes never fail to disappoint.
