Awadh is Gaurav Anand’s latest endeavor, following Bhatti Indian Grill (Murray Hill) and Moti Mahal Delux (Upper East Side). With Awadh, we present a culmination of culinary finesse of the finest food from India’s sacred and historic land. We hope to create experiences and memories through flavors as you explore meats, vegetables, seafood, kebabs, curries and breads that will leave a lasting impression on your palate.
Came back and were again delighted. They have built a "real" sidewalk push-out with sturdy wooden flooring and nicely-done decor. The food was, as always, delicious and plentiful with both classic and some unusual choices (try the stuffed mushrooms). Staff was attentive, and we felt very "safe". Only downside was the teeny tables...not enough room for the dishes.
The service was attentive. The food was excellent, as usual! And at an early hour the noise level was quiet.
Best Indian food in NYC.
Need better service. And food quality has degraded over time
Service was way too brusque and unfriendly. We’d barely sat down and the server wanted to know our order. This pattern continued throughout the meal. The food was worth the trip, but the service was disappointing
Great food per usual but very poor service. Disappointing
I ordered the baby goat that was on the menu. I received a plate of bones! I won't be returning to this restaurant.
Authentic and yummy Indian food! Biryani is a must have dish. Great outdoor seating. Wine list is not great and expensive for the offerings.
Food was very good and beautifully presented.
Have tried practically the whole menu. No disappointments. They tend spicy, which I like. Pomegranate/pepper chicken appetizer especially recommended.
The best Indian food where every sauce is different and the good is beautifully spiced !
The chefs are from New Delhi and the kababs let me know that!
Food was great, nice casual environment and accommodating staff. Would go back.
We ate 4 appetizers and some dal and all were excellent. definitely going back!
The food at Awadh is always good. The service is always attentive. Noise level varies.
Our go to place for Indian food. Would have been nice if the AC was on or working but other than that, always great there.
The food is great, but the service is seriously lacking. We asked for indoor dining because of heat and impending storms, but arrived to a table set up outside. We decided to take our food to go and while we were told it was being rushed, took 45 mins. They did offer us a drink on the house while the food was being made. The overall attitude of the waiters was of ambivalence. We had invited friends and were excited to share this restaurant with them but we were quite disappointed in the experience. Just go for the takeout or delivery.
food is authentic and tasty. price is reasonable. ambiance is not the best but neat enough. location is very nice in upper west side.
Food was great - service was terrible. Waitress couldn’t be understood with her mask on- who knows what we really ordered- but we didn’t order the 4th beer we were charged for, or the more expensive glass of wine that was substituted without our ok. Check your bill
The food was delicious but the service and ambience were awful.
It was a very hot day and even with the AC on at the highest (as reported by the server), it was warm inside. Compounding this, about a dozen people were marching back and forth through the dining room (at the height of dinner service between 7 and 8 pm) carrying trays, equipment, bags, backpacks etc. this went on for a long time and the whole whole they left the door open so the room became hot very fast. I never saw anything like it.
Service was inattentive. If not for the food which was very good as usual, there would be nothing positive to say about the time we were there.
Delicious. We loved the food — the lamb and broccoli and lemon rice were all excellent!
Fabulous experience-everything was the very best.
Mustard coated lamb chops excellent
Yellow lentil patties very good
Gin tonic good
Garlic naan good portion
Great .... great
Food is creative and always very good. Service was a bit slow on the beginning but picked up. Probably the best Indian restaurant on the UWS.
Rude waiters. Monosyllabic, terse and unprofessional. They need to be properly trained how to deal with paying customers..
Another delicious meal at Awadh Restaurant! Thank you!
The food here is fabulous. We have eaten here many times. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. Most recent visit they seemed to be understaffed but hey, it's the pandemic, and we know they are trying under difficult circumstances.
Great food, descent service
Another excellent meal at Awadh! Never a disappointment.
Lack of vegan appetizer options. As per wait staff all appetizers are pre made and hence no room for customization to suit vegan dietary needs.
Our server did not ask us about drinks and I had to ask for the drinks menu. They forgot to add the drinks to our bull and only remembered when we had paid our bill and were about to leave. The service was disorganized.
Overall food was good, but could be better if they incorporate a few vegan mushroom appetizers which are not deep fried (tandoori mushrooms without cheese).
Perhaps they can also incorporate a drinks menu with the food menu which had a bar code to scan.
Food was excellent. Service not up to the mark. Had to ask for water refills time and again. Also had to change two refills when we found something floating in the water. Have been to this place twice before, but this was the problem only yesterday.
Excellent food. Attentive and friendly service. Another great meal at Awadh!
The food was delicious, as usual! Service was attentive and friendly. An excellent meal!
This restaurant is decent. The food was good. The service was sub par. Some updates to to small details could elevate the ambiance a little more such as new, CLEAN, and better quality menus, a paint job, and stabilizing the floor so the table don't move.
Food and service were excellent, as we have come to expect from Awadh. As our meal started a bit later than our usual time, the noise level was a bit louder, but not distracting.
Another excellent meal with Awadh. Food and service were the usual Awadh A-grade! Going at an early hour meant a quieter dinner!
Great food- some small struggles with service I think because of Covid. Very nice staff, professional, super good menu and I think best Indian food on upper west side.
This is a small place with food that was bursting with flavor. Very pleasantly surprised. Good value meal.
Lemon rice, lamb saag, mustard sauce on appetizer lamb and entree sea bass, eggplant masala. All so delish! Highly recommend Awadh.
