Delicious food in a small environment right for catching up with a friend.
Outstanding food and service. I can’t wait to go back.
We meet friends and had a wonderful evening. 3 of us had the shrimp curry and one the chicken saag.
All agreed everything was delicious, service was friendly and professional. Our reservation was meet with no wait. Could not recommend this place more. This was my fourth visit and each one was terrific.
A very good casual restaurant. There are two floors and we sat downstairs where there is a bar and seating on each side of the restaurant. It was fine. Many people were going upstairs and I checked it out. Also looked fine but I liked it downstairs.
The food was very good. We had the cauliflower appetizer which was excellent. The fried Okra was very good and the lamb cigars just ok.
For the mains we had lamb shank which was excellent and the coconut Shrimp which was also excellent. (The shrimp was too spicy hot for me but my kids didn’t think so).
Overall, we would definitely return.
Fantastic food with a friendly and attentive staff. Awadh is our go-to restaurant for Thanksgiving - and for everyday dining. Great all-around.
Wonderful service, and a very fine Biryani. It's been quite a while since I was last here--too long. Awadh is a very fine experience. I won't wait so long again before the next time.
Innovative fresh food. Always a pleasure. Hard to imagine what could make it better except if they stopped innovating . . . Maybe prewarm the plates?
Great food. Our go to place. Staff are pleasant and accommodating
Our first visit to this Upper West Side Indian. Near Symphony Space, which is a real plus. Service was excellent and discreet. the menu is more limited than most local Indian restaurants, which might be a good thing because more attention can be paid to the dishes individually. Regarding our two dishes, a chicken dish was excellent and with the right level of spice. A lamb Biryani was tasty and also well seasoned, however, the lamb could have been trimmed better; we had to cut off some fat and gristle. There were also fewer bread choices that one has come to expect, but enough to make a selection. We will certainly be back.
we were a party of 6. the waiter was terrific (though they put an automatic 20% tip)
food was fabulous. I have been to India. this was definitely interesting and authentic.
absolutely want to come back again and again.
Great food but service was lacking and they up charge you for everything - including the rice and chutney appetizer that normally come with your dishes
really slow service but to wait 20 min to have any order taken, then over 1 hour for appetizers to arrive is not acceptable. Usually we are rushed. the food made up for the bad service but no apologies were made not any accommodation..
Food has fantastic taste --- superb! Service was great. At one point, it became a little smoky in the restaurant and my eyes began to water -- but worth it for the food.
Our experience at Awadh was very pleasant. The food and the service were excellent and we look forward to another dinner at Awadh!
Great food! We definitely didn't all get exactly what we ordered, it was too hard to hear the server, but everything was delicious regardless!
The food is just fabulous and the wait staff really cares!
Excellent food and service as usual. Authentic Indian cuisine is verified by the restaurant’s patrons...many ethnic south Asians eating and having a good time.
Made a reservation seeking to sit by the window on the first floor. When we arrived, window seating was not available. Someone was going to take us to the banquet...then someone else said take them upstairs. I said no.. my reservation was for the lower floor.
Food was rushed, no attention in replenishing our bottled water...just mediocre service unfortunately.
Best Indian restaurant I have tried in NYC. Great flavor and fresh ingredients.
Everything was perfect, except the pace. From getting water to get our food, everything took for ever! The staff were all so nice and polite but timeliness isn’t their strength. The food was delicious, the space is really nice and the staff are polite and accommodating. I will be back.
A delicious meal...lovely service. I love this place.
The food as always delicious, but they've been discovered and need more staff to provide the attentive service we are used to.
Try for an upstairs table as it is roomier and a bit quieter.
Food was underwhelming, quantities were small, price was high. All round disappointing 👎🏻
Atmosphere was good. However, we were early. As we were leaving, which was about 6:30, and the restaurant was filing up, it started to get noisy.
Experience was very disappointing. Not a destination venue. Parking is on the street & very difficult to find spaces. Garage is several blocks away. Contemporary bi-level restaurant. Choose upper level as lower bar level is exceptionally noisy and chilly. The food could be good but on the night we were there, it was inconsistent. The kitchen workers and servers were tired having had no break between serving a party of 70 earlier and the commencement of dinner.
The service was poor. and very slow. The wait between courses was very long causing us to inquire when our food would be served several times. When it finally appeared, he food appeared, it seemed like it had been hastily dropped on the serving dishes just to get it out. We ordered two appetizers - fried okra sticks (interesting} & sweet potatoes and pineapple (unusual & quite good). Two vegetable dishes -mixed vegetables & whole baby eggplant were good. Problems arose with the mains: we ordered lamb chops medium rare and 1/2 Tandoori chicken supposed to include white and dark meat on the bone. We were initially served three shriveled & dry over-cooked chops, They were rejected. We were served two leg and thigh (dark pieces ) but no white pieces. This too was rejected. The replacement dishes were not much better. The chops were slathered in sauce and while rare, they were inedible. The replaced chicken was a piece of dark meat and a part of the breast not on the bone as promised. While the chops charge was ultimately removed from the bill, we surely did not get value for the money spent.
We went for my husband’s birthday and the staff was very accommodating and even surprised him with dessert.
The food was incredible. I don’t think I could eat Indian anywhere else now!
The always good choice for Indian food on UWS, if not in NYC. Original, creative yet familiar.
Service a bit slow but the food is excellent and reasonable.
Went there for dinner on my birthday. Little skeptical as in most Indian restaurants food has become rich and spicier instead of genuine aroma, taste and flavor!!! To my surprise, Awadh still maintained the authenticity. Loved the food and taste. Well balanced spices and herbs. I prefer this one over others in midtown!!! Must try!!!
Most delicious Indian food around. Pretty noisy, expensive, and portions are not huge, but worth it!!
Food was delicious. A lovely place to eat on the UWS
A wonderful Indian restaurant. Many different and delicious dishes you won't find at other Indian eateries. Enjoy!
Great taste. Wonderful presentation. True Indian flavors. Best Indian meal I have had (better than anyplace in Singapore or London)
Awadh is a very fine Indian restaurant with an interesting and somewhat atypical menu, consistently well prepared. The service has improved over the years and is now much closer to the level of the food quality, which is usually excellent. The setting is attractive and comfortable, and the wine list is well chosen and reasonable.
Unusual cuisine from the Awadh region. Colorful, aromatically spiced, fresh and beautifully presented.
Loved each thing we ordered, and everything was high quality, fresh, and authentic. I hope to be back soon. :)
We enjoyed a great meal at Awadh. The NALI KI NIHARI and the KHAAS KORMA were particularly good. Our server was attentive to our needs, as well, without hovering about. A fine place.
I've eaten at Awadh several times. Awadh is not your typical Indian restaurant. The menu is a bit more creative, with several house specialties, and the atmosphere is quite nice.
This was my third visit and each time my guest or guests said it was the best Indian food they ever had in their lives. It’s a do not miss. The staff is so lovely and courteous and the food is unusual complex and delicious.
