We went for my husband’s birthday and the staff was very accommodating and even surprised him with dessert.
The food was incredible. I don’t think I could eat Indian anywhere else now!
The always good choice for Indian food on UWS, if not in NYC. Original, creative yet familiar.
Service a bit slow but the food is excellent and reasonable.
Went there for dinner on my birthday. Little skeptical as in most Indian restaurants food has become rich and spicier instead of genuine aroma, taste and flavor!!! To my surprise, Awadh still maintained the authenticity. Loved the food and taste. Well balanced spices and herbs. I prefer this one over others in midtown!!! Must try!!!
Most delicious Indian food around. Pretty noisy, expensive, and portions are not huge, but worth it!!
Food was delicious. A lovely place to eat on the UWS
A wonderful Indian restaurant. Many different and delicious dishes you won't find at other Indian eateries. Enjoy!
Great taste. Wonderful presentation. True Indian flavors. Best Indian meal I have had (better than anyplace in Singapore or London)
Awadh is a very fine Indian restaurant with an interesting and somewhat atypical menu, consistently well prepared. The service has improved over the years and is now much closer to the level of the food quality, which is usually excellent. The setting is attractive and comfortable, and the wine list is well chosen and reasonable.
Unusual cuisine from the Awadh region. Colorful, aromatically spiced, fresh and beautifully presented.
Loved each thing we ordered, and everything was high quality, fresh, and authentic. I hope to be back soon. :)
We enjoyed a great meal at Awadh. The NALI KI NIHARI and the KHAAS KORMA were particularly good. Our server was attentive to our needs, as well, without hovering about. A fine place.
I've eaten at Awadh several times. Awadh is not your typical Indian restaurant. The menu is a bit more creative, with several house specialties, and the atmosphere is quite nice.
This was my third visit and each time my guest or guests said it was the best Indian food they ever had in their lives. It’s a do not miss. The staff is so lovely and courteous and the food is unusual complex and delicious.
Always very impressed with the delicious food and attentive service!!
Delicious food, easy to share dishes. Nice service and a quiet place to talk.
We loved the food. Can’t wait to go back. The biryani and lamb chops were exceptional.
Food fantastic, service pleasant but incompetent the evening we were there. Wrong dishes were served to us. It took an hour and a half to be served and plates dropped by waiter which can happen but very noisy.
Awadh is currently my favorite Indian restaurant in New York. The cuisine is more refined and of a higher quality than any other place in the neighborhood. The flavors are very vivid and distinct, but not over-seasoned. The Biriyani is excellent, and I also recommend the coconut shrimp, which are both spicy and surprisingly light.
Closest to the authentic indian food one could get in NYC.
Service is amazing and food is top notch.
Appetizers were nothing special. Should have skipped it. We had Karrari bhindi and Bhagwan khumb.
For entrees, we had nali ki nihari, murg kaali mirch, allepy fish curry. For someone who has had Indian food throughout the US, UK, Amsterdam, and France, the flavors were definitely distinctive. I enjoyed all three. The only issue was that the menu had lamb shanks (plural) but there was only one shank. The lehsuni naan was good.
The Nihari is pretty great! I recommend it. Palak kebabs - less so. The service was very good. General ambience is good too. I would go back to this restaurant.
Food was excellent. Bathrooms were horrible.
Delectable cuisine served with grace! I have taken people from all walks to eat at Awadh and everyone has come back sining praises abut the heavenly food. Try it. With friends, family or a lover. You will make their evening a happy one!
Excellent food. Pleasant atmosphere. Great service
Mostly terrific. Lamb "specialty* way too salty but both fish and mixed-veg dishes truly superior. Nice folks with good service marred by occasional inattention.
Really interesting, tasty food from a part of India that's not common in the average take-out curry-based Indian food available everywhere. This is special.
Excellent Indian food. The best Indian Restaurant on the upper west side. Love the Biranni.
Staff was not friendly .. and the food was average
Great food. Nice ambiance.
I am handicapped and I am so grateful for how Awadh treated me!
The appetizers were a hit: the giant prawns, the stuffed mushroom, the Raita—all were tasty and rich! And the lamb sag was both meaty and a deliciously cooked/spiced spinach. A wonderful restaurant—and the service was attentive and professional.
This is hands down the best Indian food in all of NYC. If you doubt; note that 90% of the customers were Indian. Just the most flavorful and complex food ever. I went here twice in a week it is that good.
the food is consistently good here. One of the few Indian restaurant with a very good, although limited , wine list.
Came here on my last night in New York and it was the best food we had all week. Absolutely perfect and for a reasonable price (to say you were in new york). The place looked great as well and was a 2 min walk from our hotel so even better. Highly recommend this to anyone
Delicious food, especially tariwalla chicken and Ulta tawa paratha!!
Delicious and good ambiance
We sat for 20 minutes with no service while the table next to us got wine and wine and wine brought to them. I understand that there was a big party, but no one even acknowledged us. So we left and went to Manhattan/Indus Valley up the street and it was a much better experience.
Wonderful, authentic food. The best Tandoori chicken I've ever eaten. Dal was excellent....overall the food is great. Service is indifferent, bordering on unpleasant. However, the food was served in a timely fashion, and we had a very good meal.
