Service was good. Food was good but not anything spectacular. I expected the food (and/or atmosphere) to be significantly better given the price. In my opinion, there is nothing to justify the price.
Food was decent, no complaints but definitely not worth what is charged. Our waitress was very good, as were the people who cleaned off plates, however other members of the staff were not very friendly. The space itself is lackluster and dated without much atmosphere. Can have much better experiences at one of the many Greek restaurants in NY for much less, and when spending the kind of money it endeds being I expect a much better time.
Great food, great everything! Thank you!
Every visit to Avra be it 48 or 60 Street, is a rewarding the time spent.
Loud and crowded but fun.
This restaurant always comes out exceeding expectations. The food and service is always top notch and impressed anyone I bring here. A huge thanks to the staff there for all they do. THANK YOU!!
The service was equal to the food which was equal to the ambience. Everyone had the best time!
Prix fixe lunch excellent. Several choices. Waiter attentive and lovely. Front room preferable although noisier. Had 1:30 reservation and that worked well. Very crowded when we arrived but began to thin out by 1:50 pm and was less noisy. Overall very good experience.
Great food and service. Noise level can get deafening.
It was PACKED for a Monday night and unfortunately trains delayed me to my reservation which was meant we got pushed. Weren't seated until 30 min after arriving, but it is what it is. The food at Avra is always worth it. I just wish they had a better/smoother system for waiting around.
Food is always very good, but the attitude of the man at the front desk, the bartender, and some of the servers begins to make you question if you should brings clients here to spend your money.
Service was a bit slow this time but the food was excellent. Very tasty fish and salads.
We had a great dinner. The only small issue was we mentioned it was our anniversary when reserving on Open Table and I thought they might do something for us (write happy anniversary on the dessert) but nothing was done.
Food very good
Service pleasant and attentive
Very enjoyable evening
Really enjoyed the whole experience
Food was good, classic greek. But price is too high for the quality of the meal and the service, like it was fine cuisine which is not. Saganaki and avra fries were great, fish very fresh. Waiter was distracted.
Great food and service. Followed the recommendation of local friends. Will hi back n a heartbeat
Good spot for business lunch. Very consistent and good value.
Excellent food you brag about to others after you have a meal here.
Favorite restaurant in NYC. The fish is the best in the city. Zucchini chips are amazing and I love the grilled octopus. The tuna was fresh and delicious. Desert was excellent.
The only problem was that the waiter charge me US$ 77,00 over the real price!!! Always check the bill!!!
Food is good but restaurant is loud. Tough to hear the other person for a business conversation
Food and service were excellent. Noise levels a bit too high for conversation and/or to be a good lunch meeting spot.
Excellent food. Just perfect!
A little on the expensive side for a decor that is dated, but great experience.
A local New Yorker recommended and it was wonderful! I would definitely go again and again!! Pricey, but worth it. Great fish and lots of good choices in addition!
I've been going for years. The service was impeccable this time. Our servers were on the ball, replenishing, checking in often but not overbearing-- really top notch service. Live music in the background, their live and clean/fresh raw bar was pleasing to the eye. When I saw the crab peek and lift up it's head, I thought "it's alive, nice!" The only thing I would say is, the quality of the food this time was a bit lacking. I always get the open faced omelet, and this time it was just more like eggs, lol. I also got the side of bacon, and I just remember that being of better quality; they served these thin strips more akin to diner. All in all, my friend whom I brought for her birthday was impressed. Thank you Avra, but don't skip on the quality, you're one of my fave go-to places for brunch. Blessings!
Great for large group of people. Really good food. The branzino was amazing!
Great food, great service. Bit pricey but great date night place. Felt like I was back in Greece
We loved our meal here! Everything was as expected. We will be back!
A wonderful afternoon meal.
One word: amazing!!! Unfortunately the app will make you write more in order to post the comment, but really there is nothing to add. Food, service, ambience, everything was outstanding!
Fresh fish, highly-reliable choice, with service always attentive without being cloying. Lunch special is the way to go.
Great grilled fish and first class service
The front of the house staff was rude and disrespectful. The young ladies were enjoying themselves and ignoring the guests. We came 45 minutes before the reservation and said they would seat us early and then ignored us completely until 15 minutes after our reservation and ended up seating us in the bar area. Ridiculous. The restaurant was basically half full when we got there and the app said there were reservations available before and after ours. I guess not for us!
Disappointing. I’ve been going for years but they’ve now gotten full of themselves and are hiring inexperienced rude inexperienced help, especially those front facing that should be the best, not the worst.
Consistently good - well prepared fresh seafood. It’s pricey but delicious. Usually very busy at lunch and dinner- make reservations, unless you come at off peak hours. Love the Avra chips - thinly sliced, fried zucchini and eggplant served with a side of tzatziki to dip into. Grilled octopus is dressed lightly with olive oil, Greek spices, etc for a light appetizer. Beefsteak tomatoes are always juicy flavorful and perfect in the salads. Fresh fish you pick out with the waiter is prepared perfectly cooked.
Love Avra... some of the best Fish in the City. Great atmosphere, incredible service. As must go to when in Manhattan.
It’s always a fun and busy place... we enjoyed it
Had to wait 30 minutes for confirmed table. Crowded beyond belief. Terribly noise. Difficult to converse.
We met our daughter who was in from London for a brief visit back home due to company training. My only issue was that the restaurant was so busy that Monday night that we had trouble hearing her over the noise level. So many people walked by our table that I didn’t get a chance to absorb the decor or view the complete layout of the restaurant. That said, our busy waiter was very attentive, polite and made some excellent points about our dinner choices. The food was delightful- our choices were the halibut and red snapper. The wine menu was lovely. For dessert 16 year old Lagavulin. We know Manhattan is expensive- we used to live there- but this was a special occasion for us, so we were ok with the expense.
Avra Estiatorio is always fabulous. Must try the Moschofilero wine, octopus and sea bass skewers. Enjoy!
