Avoca Salt Restaurant
Salt's name comes its Salthill locale - which itself was derived from salt works that were once here - plus the nearby sea and, of course, the seasoning. Our Head Chef is Mark McGillycuddy who previously worked in Michelin-starred Mint in Ranelagh. Menus are fresh and interesting (see below), with plenty of appetizing salads and lighter lunch dishes, reasonably priced for the casual mid-week crowd.
Very pleasant surrounds, great speedy service, good food and moderately priced.
We had a lovely brunch with our two children. The kids menu was very good. Staff were very nice and friendly. Will go back again soon
Meeting a friend for lunch. We both ordered the poached eggs, avocado dish. It came really quickly but wasn’t very hot. It tasted good but would have been nicer if it was hot. When I tried to pay my bill I was told the bill was gone from the computer. I told the lady I hadn’t paid and I had to tell her what o had. Strange.
I was upset to then get an email from Opentable telling me that Salt had told them I never turned up for my reservation. I would NEVER not turn up for a reservation as I am in the service industry myself.
Something amiss in Salt I’m sorry to say.
Sabi is the best! A warm, entertaining host that makes everyone feel welcome and appreciated. Highly recommend Salt Avoca particularly because of him.
I mentioned To the waiter that the fish was not fresh I was some what surprised that there was no. Response
The lunch I received was way below par for this Restaurant. It felt and tasted as if it was reheated.
The slightly quirky retro style of the decor adds to the novelty of the food which in itself is somewhat exotic but based on fresh ingredients often in unexpected combinations.
Lovely breakfast! Great quality food and super service!
We had a delicious breakfast and will definitely be returning
Last minute decision, but we got a table for 5 online (which they honoured, even though they hadn't yet transposed it to the 'book'). Always good food - everyone (teens and adults) very happy with their lunch choices and lots of sharing and oohing and ahhing. Always busy, but always worth the wait.
Would be nice to have a real avocado toast option but the brunch was very good. We didn't have great service (they forgot about us and hadn't brought enough tea for the two of us who ordered it) but overall it's a great place. We'll visit again.
Had the chicken Cesar salad and was violently ill within one hour !
Wonderful menu choice of food. In Monkstown it’s a gem
Strange that it’s not busier
Service, food, wine recommended and value were outstanding
I really don’t like writing a bad review about a restaurant when the staff were so friendly and efficient but at the end of the day it’s about the food! One out of three of us enjoyed their meal .I had the beef in red wine and it was almost inedible it was so salty,I counted five pieces of meat and the rest was a rather unappetizing mess! When Salt opened first I found it different ,tasty food and I have revisited many times but menu is boring and hasn’t changed much in years.Whilst we all like the Mezze board we don’t want it every time we visit as it’s the only dish that was nice,on the plus side the trio of desserts was delightful but overall I don’t think I’d return unless I heard food great again!!sorry
The food is good, not outstanding, particularly in view of the pricing. It would be great if the brunch menu was available earlier on a sunday.
Really lovely place. Great food and staff. Hadn't been in a while but won't be leaving so long until our next visit.
We were a noisy and picky bunch who meet up once a year and enjoy a long evening of delicious food and wine in Salt. The staff were very attentive and good humoured, coping with all our diverse needs. We will definitely return.
Lovely and delicious food, beautifully presented. Great staff and very nice ambience. Will return for sure!
Service surprisingly poor for my local Avoca restaurant on the occasion of my Mum’s 86th b’day! Think Aramark have dumbed the place down - laminated drinks menu - really!!??? Food good when it came - 1 hour after sitting down - although choice has been cut presumably to make sure the place makes money? staff tried best but rather chaotic for a 5.30pm spot on bank holiday Saturday!! Oh they also didn’t have our online open table reservation down ....but at least accommodated us!
From the moment we walked in we were looked after so well. Service was excellent and food so tasty, there was plenty of it! Nice buzz about the place too.
Fab as always never let down by food. Best Tuna in town. Well done again SALT
Well located restaurant, with friendly staff and good food.
Great place to have rbeakfast or brunch. Alot of children so noise levels are high :)
Love Love Avoca Salt - Gluten Free pancakes are a complete treat for my Coeliac daughter and the food is just excellent each and every time.
I booked a table on line but on arrival no record of it was there. Fortunately a table was available. The waiter advised that the on line system was not checked very often - maybe once a day and first thing in the morning! Seems silly to invest in a system and then abuse it and ultimately the expectant customer who arrives to find no table available.
Nice cafe but can be noisy when busy. Tasty food. Service can be a bit hit and miss, purely due to how busy the place is. Nice food hall attached - always packed!
