Focused menu with quality meals. Unique cuisine that one doesn’t find any where else. Outdoor dining section very well maintained and service with exceptional. Highly recommend!

Drinks and appetizers were excellent! The chicken skewers were very dry. The pasta was lacking flavor. The lamb dish was great! The ambiance and service made the experience all in all a great one! I would say it’s worth a visit!

The food was exceptional! Tasty, timely service, frequent check-in by server, prices reasonable. Outdoor eating was enjoyable.

Dined at Avli for Downtown Dining Week. The atmosphere was beautiful, but unfortunately, the service and food didn’t live up to the setting. Each of the three courses took nearly 50 minutes to arrive. Aside from a quick apology early on, there was very little communication or check-ins from our server. Water was refilled a few times, but the table was mostly left waiting, and watching nearby tables who arrived later get served more efficiently. In fact, a group seated after us received all three of their courses before we even got our dessert. Portions were small and underwhelming. A pasta dish tasted like plain buttered noodles. A rice dish came out lukewarm and clumpy, like it had been reheated. Two people ordered the same dessert and received noticeably different portions, while others waited almost an hour for a simple yogurt dish. We had noted on the reservation that it was a graduation celebration, but nothing about the service felt congratulatory. We weren’t expecting anything extravagant, just basic attentiveness and a smooth meal. At one point, someone at our table joked about going to get fast food instead. Honestly, it would’ve been more satisfying, better portioned, and a lot faster. Avli may look upscale, but the experience didn’t reflect it. Save your time and money. There are much more satisfying places to eat in Milwaukee.

We visited Avli for the first time the other night. We had reservations and were promptly seated at 7pm. We then sat there for 25 minutes before anyone greeted us, brought us water or took a drink order. When our waitress did come over we put in our order for drinks and food all at once. Our food was delicious, but we sat there for 1 hour and 45 minutes before we got our main course. We ended up being in the restaurant for over two and a half hours. We did not have a manager stop by to see how our meal was. We did mention to our waitress that our food was taking an extra long time and she said she wasn't sure why. The restaurant is beautiful inside and has a great view but the service was not great.

We really wanted to like this place, but the longer we were there, the more we were let down. We ordered drinks at the bar while we waited for our reservation; which was fine and the bartender was very polite. We waited a solid 15 minutes before we even had waters at the table once we were seated. We ordered the grilled octopus as an appetizer and it took over an hour to get to our table. When it did come, it was way overcooked (burnt on the tips of the octopus) and completely unseasoned. It came on a plate with blistered tomatoes and basically a bath of olive oil. Took another hour for our entrees to come; the server was very slow to refill drinks or communicate what the status of our meal was. I ordered the half chicken and it was delicious; my husband ordered lamb chops and couldn’t finish his food because the meat was *very* gamey and unpleasant. The acoustics in this restaurant also make it impossible to hear each other- it was just not a great experience and for the price, I’d advise against checking this place out.

I dined at Avli last night and had a mixed experience. The atmosphere was pleasant and the presentation of the dishes was appealing, but a few key areas fell short. Service was unfortunately lacking — our waiter seemed distracted, and the overall pacing of the meal was slow. We ended up spending nearly two hours at the restaurant, with long waits between courses that made the experience feel dragged out rather than leisurely. The drinks were decent but didn’t particularly stand out. As for the food, it arrived hot and fresh, which we appreciated, but the flavors didn’t quite deliver. Many of the dishes felt like they were missing that extra something to make them memorable. One highlight, though, was the watermelon salad — crisp, refreshing, and very close to a version we enjoy making at home. That dish alone stood out and gave us a bright note to end on. Avli has potential, but for now, it lands at a solid 3 out of 5.
