Amazing restaurant, with delicious food, beautiful ambiance and stellar service! Can’t wait to come back!
Birthday celebration
The location. Is perfect, right on the boardwalk with ocean views. The ambiance very cozy, with a big fireplace and socially distant tables. Food was delicious. We had the salmon and Thai snapper(outstanding), they were both very good. Our waiter was very nice. The ladies bathroom though, was less than decent with used paper towels all over the counters and floor. Hope they read this and put more attention to it.
I will first state that we did arrive about 30 minutes late and when we called stating we were running late, the maiter'd was able to accommodate us. When we arrived, there wasn't anyone waiting for tables, and there were plenty of open spots that had settings already on them. We got seated within 5 minutes of arrival. Once seated it took about 10 minutes for the waiter to greet us and ask what kind of water we would like (and any other drinks). We were still reviewing the menu, so we asked for water to start, which we got shortly thereafter. However, the waiter did not come back to us until 45 minutes later, asking for our wine and food orders. We received our beverages, and then waited for the food. We waited about 30 minutes for food, which we quickly ate, and ordered dessert. We waited another 30-40 minutes for dessert. The waiter was always in a rush and never recommended anything or talked to us for more than 2 minutes to take our orders. In the end we were there for over 2.5 hours, which would have been a lot shorter if we had quicker service. I've been to fine dining restaurants and you pay for the experience - and I was greatly disappointed by the experience we had. Yes the food was good, but not enough to override the poor service.
Caught the last night of Restaurant Week in Long Branch and Avenue had a terrific menu. Tables were well spaced out and all staff wore masks. Our server was attentive but we did not feel rushed at all. He gave us time to enjoy a cocktail and made recommendations for us. The salmon and branzino were perfectly prepared and a side of fries did complement both dishes. Took home one of the desserts and it was delicious the next day. There really was no atmosphere but that was caused by the wintry weather and the table spacing. Once Covid is past us this will be the usual hot spot bustling with diners again.
Delicious food, great ambiance but there’s only one server so we had to wait for him to get to our table for our orders and to wait longer to get our check when we were done as there were more customers that came. Value is ok, more on the expensive side.
My wife and I dined at Avenue during the Long Branch Restaurant Week. It was an outstanding value at $35 per entree.
One of our guest place a last minute order and according to the waitress was going to take about 35 minutes for the dish, we did not have a problem waiting but we were told NO because of other reservations. (Weird) But overall the service and food was very good.
This was our first time at Avenue. We went there for the Pier Village Restaurant Week menu. It was an extraordinary value - three courses for $35! Every item ordered was Amazing. Escargot and Macaroni Gratinee to start - both delish! Main courses were Branzino with Gnocchi and also Steak Frites - Fabulous! Enjoyed Pot de Creme and Profiteroles for dessert. Decadent! The Sommelier helped us pick a lovely bottle of wine. Service and atmosphere was Wonderful. We intend to return very soon.
I’d like to believe that this was a one-off dining experience as all my previous ones were great. This was a Valentine’s dinner for 2, we were promptly seated, ambiance and food were great (which is why we wanted to go there in the 1st place), however service was non-existent. All tables around us were getting served, we had to flag a manager down to ask for a waiter. The manager ended up serving us water after 20 minutes of sitting down, waiter showed up half an hour later. We never got a bread basket, had to ask for it when they served our escargots. I asked for a 2nd drink, I didn’t get it until it was almost time to leave. For the price (which we don’t mind paying for good food), the service cannot be subpar or nonexistent in our case.
Excellent service & food
Food was great.
Seafood tower was excellent, ribeye for two was even better. Martinis were solid as well, ice chips always make them! Would definitely do Valentine's day there again...
We had a wonderful Valentino’s dinner date. Everything was lovely. To start, we had two appetizers, the lobster salad and tuna tartare. For dinner, my husband had the sea bass special and I had the tuna Niçoise salad. No desserts but opted for regular coffee. Our waiter’s service was excellent as usual. Thank you again❤️
Service was a little slow since it was Valentines Day but overall it was a nice early dinner. French onion soup amazing as always and steaks cooked perfectly. Was lucky enough to get a view of the ocean. Did have an issue with them occasionally opening the door which seemed like an odd thing to do since it was so cold out.
Took my significant other to a Valentine’s date there and the minute we arrived, we were treated rude and unprofessional. The gentleman name is Marcelo and after I spent a significant amount on food and drinks, he had the audacity to say to me and my wife that you need to leave because there is customers waiting to be seated. How dare you rush a paying customer to leave a table! Me and my wife were still drinking and just got done eating. We was there no more than 1.5 hours seated. It seems like this restaurant is rushing customers to eat so they can take the next one. I asked to speak to mgr and the mgr never came. I had to get out my seat to speak to one. All he said was I was right. There is a way you speak to a customer and how you handle things! Your not supposed to be rude and disrespectful towards anyone! We drove 2 hours to have this restaurant ruined our night! Your lucky I didn’t record you saying this and posted you all over social media. But trust me one day someone will if this continues. Unbelievable! If your looking to go to a restaurant to enjoy a nice evening and dinner with whomever, I don’t recommend this place! They want you to order your appetizer and food at the same time so you can leave quicker! Service was horrible, food was not that exciting and the only nice thing about it, it’s the view! The customer is always right remember this Avenue!! Treat customers right be curious and professional! Be happy to be there working and explain the menu! It was Valentine’s Day not president’s day !! It wasn’t a store you buy things and leave !! People go out to eat and enjoy time with others especially during these times. You should be glad your in business unlike others whom are not! Be grateful!
Excellent service, great atmosphere. Everything was superb.
We went for our fourth anniversary dinner. Our waiter and the food were stellar. The maître d’ on the other hand was smug and dismissive and put a very poor taste in our mouths from the start. Thank God the service and food was so spectacular, it overshadowed the attitude of the host. I’m not sure who he thinks he is, but we’re in the middle of a pandemic and he should appreciate every customer that comes through the door.
I have eaten there about 2 years ago and everything was amazing but this time the food was not that good. I had the Paella. The rice was dry and the chorizo was hard and overcooked. I was very surprised. However the Le Royal fish tower was good and fresh.
Great quality food and romantic environment. The oysters and cocktails were amazing. We weren’t crazy about the crab dip since it wasn’t really a dip, but besides that we really enjoyed ourselves. We will definitely be coming back!
Our waiter was outstanding and made impeccable suggestions for our meals and drinks. He went above and beyond for us and even treated us to our cappuccinos. Superb!! We’ve dined here before a s it never disappoints, but last was exceptional!
Food was amazing. Service was just as good! Beautiful restaurant and wine list was impressive. Definitely visiting again!
My husband and I have been here over the summer and experienced outdoor dining! Took the kids this time for a pre-Valentine’s lunch and it is such lovely restaurant, good food and service and atmosphere, definitely hope to go back again. Very clean and we felt safe dining in.
First time out after a few mo ths Avenue did not disappoint. Excellent food service was attentive and excellent ambiance. Great old fashion.
Overall, it was.... good. It wasn't amazing... it wasn't excellent... it was.... good. Not sure what we were expecting being that we are in COVID... but the dinner lacked warmth. It felt empty... not the place... but the experience. We were greeted coldly by the host who didn't say a word to us... just walked us to the table... our waiter didn't really greet us either... just took our order ( not our drink order first... then came back with our drinks and asked... took our full order)... he actually took our oyster tray with two oysters still on the tray (and had to return it). After our meal, there was no "would you like a desert". We had to find our waiter and ask for the check. And when we walked out there was no "Thank You! " Not that we wanted to be pampered... but when you are spending $300+ on dinner... you'd think they would want to make it worth it. Maybe they would want them to dine again. Also, we did note on opentable that it was our anniversary... not that it matters. But would have been a nice touch to mention.
Martinis were excellent! The oysters were fresh and delicious! The house Bordeaux at $14 is an amazing value. (Although they do have a wine list with many of the classic bottles of wine, many of them had more than a 100% markup so I didn't think it was worth it.). The escargot could have used more garlic and a pinch of salt. The $150 Cote de Boeuf was a tad bit dry. It comes out in a sizzling plate and we ordered it medium rare which the first pieces were, but towards the end the pieces were well done.
Would we go back? Yeah... probably. We do live in the area so it is a decent option. But I don't know if I'd be rushing back. The location and the drinks and the apps are worth a return trip. I just hope that the service warms up with the weather.
Food was amazing and service was great as well! Can’t wait to come back again to try dinner.
Fabulous meal. Our waiter was real good. Knew when to come and when to serve.
The British Columbia oysters were outstanding. Very plump juicy and salty sweet. Six was enough to share.
My bistro chicken was perfect and the sauce was very fine. My friend had the scallops and they were soft and just browned enough! Alas, no desert, no room .lol
Wonderful dining experience. Delicious food, excellent service and beautiful views. Will be back for sure. Thank you
