Food and service excellent.. considering low staff !
Wonderful!!! Server was excellent!!!! Food was perfect! Server suggested some foods that were delicious. Celebrating a birthday and Father’s Day-evening was perfect!
Beautiful outside setting, great staff, parking difficult
The service was only OK and our food took forever to come.
The woman’s bathroom was unacceptably disgusting.
When presented with all of this the manager seemed disinterested. I understand many places are understaffed, but understanding a high end restaurant needs to do better with even a feigned apology goes a long way.
A TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE DINNER! I have been going here for many years. Always great, but Father’s Day was a disaster. Sat at our 5pm res. A guy who was wearing jeans and a shirt took our drink order. My choice of white wine came out, he asked me to try it, I did. Terrible. He asked if I liked it. I said no. He didn’t offer to cha be it. He just shrugged his shoulders. Them over 1 hour went by until another waiter came by to take our orders. A rude guy. Suggesting I order 2 large seafood towers for the table, steaks etc. long story short… the remaking time was spent chasing down the waiter, our food, the check. A horrible meal that cost me $ 700.00. Not an apology… “ sorry , it’s a madhouse in the kitchen, or sorry for the delay etc, what A waste. If I could have tipped less, I would have. Ps… my trout dinner was overcooked and only ate half. It will be a LOOOONG time before I go back.
I made reservations for Father’s Day at 2:15 PM there was no disclosure of a day meal versus dinner meal. When I arrived was told of a limited menu and that was it. Also Was very disappointed with the cleanliness of the restrooms considering it was early afternoon it was a mess.
Beautiful breezy sunny day for outdoor eating. Very nice brunch selection and very nice outdoor live music.
We were a party of 8 sitting inside. Our waitress was clearly stressed with way too many tables. 3 of the 8 water glasses at the table were unusable. A dead fly in one, spinach in another and lipstick on the third. The food was excellent although it took nearly 20 minutes to bring a coffee to the table. Bathrooms were an absolute disgrace and didn't look as if they had been cleaned in days.
We were pleased to get a table at Avenue for Father’s Day brunch. This is not our first time here as we love having an opportunity to sit outside on the wraparound porch overlooking the ocean with a view that is amazing! As usual the food was great. I had the Avenue breakfast with fresh chive infused scrambled eggs , rosemary potatoes and country toast and bacon. My husband had the strawberry waffles and our daughter had the Turkey club. Food gets an A plus. Our server was very kind but missed a few things due to being overwhelmed. The restaurant is short staffed but still does it’s super best to keep customers happy. Great place and highly recommend
We used to come to this place for special occasions for many years and it was really nice. But this time it wasn’t a pleasant experience at all: the waiter was jiggling way too many tables, was inattentive and as a result the wait time for both placing the order and then getting the food served was ridiculously long. When the food finally arrived it wasn’t the same quality as it used to be in pre-pandemic time. On top of that my medium done steak was served to my dad while his well done - to me. We ordered Cabernet Sauvignon and, after we were almost done with the main course, were finally served white Sauvignon Blanc - they ended up bringing the correct wine towards the very end of the dinner. We didn’t even bother with the desert. Needless to say my mother’s 75th birthday didn’t feel like a special occasion at all… Would not recommend this place anymore.
Beautiful spot on the boardwalk and water. Great food. Oysters were so fresh and delicious. Great service as well!
The ultimate dining experience at a beach location. Clean. Outstanding food. Friendly efficient servers. Management staff are synchronized. They great every guest with a smile and very accommodating. Thierry at reception is welcoming to every guest. We look forward to seeing him on our visits.
Birthday was ruined by the horrible service.. 1st when we arrived, the host was no where to be found and it took 10 min to be seated. 2nd there was no server and I had to ask another waitress to grab someone after being seated for 15 min.. and then the server completely overlooked us luckily we had ordered an appetizer to hold us over. It took 15 min to get drinks and the server never came back. I had to find him just to get the check. Never again will we be returning
Wonderful as usual!! Highly recommend to everyone!
Our waiter Alexei was amazing. Food was great. Just overall it was a fantastic evening
Server was very good. He was doing his best while his manager got upset of him in front of us. I thought that was unprofessional.
Lobster roll was rubbery but the salad it came with was good.
Nothing special about the steak. Grilled calamari was awesome.
We did not have a great experience. We came there for a birthday dinner and reservations were for 8:30. Don’t take reservations for 8:30 if kitchen closes at 9 and we have to order everything at once. Shrimp cocktail - shrimp was frozen! You can feel the crunch from the ice. They weren’t deveined. And the garlic pea Rigatoni was horrible. It was a bag of peas dumped in boiled pasta. Don’t think I’ll come there for dinner again.
Food was great but it was an oven no air co diction if in a muggy hot night mentioned it to the waiter he didn’t flinch never came back to ask if we wanted desert I had to get yo and find him to ask for the bill we were so hot and uncomfortable.
Limited menu, dated decor, pricy
Paper menus would be more convenient for those challenged
Terrible. To start with, you have to access the menu via a QR Code. But, their WiFi was down. They knew there was no WiFi, but didn’t have menus awaiting customers on the tables. We had to ask for a menu. When we mentioned this to the manager he shrugged his shpulders and said “everyone should have their own WiFi”.
One of our party’s salad appetizers did not come out till the main meal arrived. The beef b’ourgenon was inedible.
Overall, the experience was awful.
The music was so loud it was painful. Everyone complained but no one did anything. Food was ok but not expected level for price. Was served Malbec rather than Pinot Noir in glass and waitress argued. It was obvious from look and scent and taste. Used to be better so we were disappointed.
Seated immediately, waited over 10 minutes for water. Another 10 minutes for drink order (in a very empty restaurant) Food was not editable, short ribs were over cooked and did not fall apart at all. Desert was egh. Will not be returning.
The food here is excellent. Well worth the money. The staff were courteous and professional and the atmosphere is pleasing.
Food was good, small portions for a bigger price. Second time going and the service was poor due to no one coming around for even water until 15 minutes in, and a total of 2 hours until we got our food
Food was outstanding so was wine.. service not so good.. need more wait staff.
2 waiters for the entire restaurant. So terrible service as he was trying his beat to cover way tooooo many tables. Overcooked and undercooked food. Dirty and unsanitary utensils, tables and chairs. No sanitation of high chairs in between used. Maître d’ had major attitude didn’t even say hello. No bus boys to clear table sat with dirty dishes till check came. Maitre d threw high chair across floor from other table, just rude and inconsiderate.
This restaurant used to be so classy and amazing it has completely fallen off terrible from beginning to end. Dead insects in windows. Dirty bathrooms. Simply terrible. Don’t waste your time and money.
Unclear how decision was made as to whom to seat outside
bar closed, place was very warm inside, and the prices for last night were crazy
Wonderful location, magnificent food, great wine list not over-priced. Worst service I’ve experienced for years
Made a reservation and still had to wait 15 min for a table. It took 40 minutes to even get our drinks. The waitress was kind of nice but she was by herself. We had to ask her multiple times for water and it never came. One male server was not friendly. Once the food finally came out, it was dry and the waitress never came back to check on us. We would have ordered more drinks, but she never came back. It would have been nice if someone came to acknowledge that we were waiting for so long, but the waitress avoided eye contact, even when I tried to wave her down. I even had to bring the check inside because we didn’t want to wait any longer. For it to be a reservation-only night, and to be paying a higher price for dinner, there should be WAY better service and food. Hugely disappointed and would definitely not return.
Fantastic table and excellent service.
What a disappointment! We were so excited to try this place being on the water and something different. We were first greeted by the host who was very unfriendly and not welcoming. We were seated outside since it was extremely hot inside the restaurant. Our waitress was very friendly when she first came to take our drink order. We ordered two rounds of drinks and the service was extremely slow. It took around 20-30 minutes to get drinks and not at the same time. When dinner is served everyone at the table received their dinners except my husband. The ironic thing is we all had hot dinners. My husband ordered a grilled shrimp salad. How did that not come out first? When I addressed it to the waitress she said ok let me check and went off to other tables with little regard to my husband not having his dinner while everyone else is eating. About 15 minutes later, we flagged a manager down to tell him what about the missing dinner? He brought it out without even an apology. We will definitely not go back or recommend this place to anyone. We don’t mind paying good money for good food, drinks, and service but this lacked all three.
Sadly, like many restaurants rebounding from COVID challenges, Avenue felt quite understaffed. The food and drinks were excellent, as is usual for this restaurant, but the service was slow and sparse. Management allowed too many tables to be sat for the number of wait staff on duty. We felt forgotten or ignored several times during our meal. Hoping they'll get the balance right because this really is a nice restaurant that we enjoy.
Slow and disorganized .
The location is excellent.
We had a reservation and we seated immediately however it took 30 minutes for a server to come to our table after asking twice. It was busy and there were a couple of distraught customers- one of them telling the waiter that she had been waiting an hour for her food. The service was poor and our waiter only came to our table to take our order and to give us our check at the end. The ambiance is beautiful and the food was good but likely wouldn’t come back.
My husband and I love going to the beach in Long Branch and this restaurant is just a few steps away. The food, drinks, ambiance and service are all great! We recommend the seafood tower (always fresh), Moules Frites (mussels with French fries), and Croque Madame. It’s a popular spot in the summertime so don’t forget to make a reservation early.
quite expensive for what is delivered along with $15 drinks
Love this place! Always great to visit it when I am in Long Branch
Beautiful scenery, impeccable service and a delicious meal.
