Discovering the experience of dining in a place such as Cannes or Nice was never easier than now with the opening of the French Bistro and Raw Bar, Avenue. The only difference between dining at Avenue and dining along the Côte d'Azur, is that your gaze lands on waves on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean. Avenue is located along our side of the pond, on our own eastern shores in Long Branch, New Jersey. This gleaming new restaurant is designed by the internationally renowned architect David Collins, and the collaboration is nothing short of amazing.

Avenue Ratings and Reviews
Long one of our favorites - this time for Sunday Brunch. The brunch menu is at least as entertaining and delicious as our customary dinner, and yes there is wine that marries with French Toast! Not ordinary French Toast either - sweet and tangy and so good of itself there’s no need for syrup. A bit noisy due to a couple of parties, having as much fun as we did.
Always fantastic! Avenue never disappoints. Although we were disappointed that the salmon tartare is now tuna tartare, it is still delicious - although still like the salmon better. Green salad fresh and simple; escargot wonderful. The bread was a little stale; next basket was better.
My husband's filet mignon was perfectly done and very flavorful. My halibut fresh, meaty and sparkling with flavor. We were too full for dessert but love the profiteroles. My only disappointment - my martinis were not icy-cold; perhaps they weren't shaken enough or were sitting on the bar too long before our server picked them up. Great wine list too - very impressive. Can't wait to go back!
It was my husbands birthday and I told them that when I made the reservations and when we arrived. They never acknowledged it which for a fine dining establishment I would have expected that they would have said something. The food was good but pricey. Drinks were fabulous and ambiance is amazing. A great special occasion place but don't expect any special treatment.
I made the reservation in advance to celebrate my Moms birthday. I requested a table by the window and I was told that it is first come first serve. We arrived early for our 8pm reservation and I requested a table by the window. I was told by the hostess she couldn't accommodate us. We waited 25 minutes before anyone came to our table to take our drink order. Then they took our dinner order and 20 minutes after we ordered drinks they came. Dinner took for ever. My husband and father ordered $45 filet mignon which they requested medium rare. It came out well done we sent it back and after 25 minutes it still wasn't out.
My husband complained to the manager and the meals finally came out but at this point it was too late. No apology from anyone. We had to go find someone to get the check then I had to find the manager to pay
There was a party of 40 people there as well tonight which made the dining room very busy
The Avenue needs to train their management staff better. I am in the customer service field and if the manager at the Avenue worked for me he would be fired.
No apology no explanation nothing. I will not return and I will let all my friends know as well.
We always try to go to Avenue when we are in Monmouth County. Happy hour and dinner specials are outstanding. The menu stays basically the same, we would not go every week. The Coconut Cake for dessert was one of the finest desserts we have had in a restaurant in a long time. We come from Key West where every restaurant serves the same five dessert, all of which are boring. Off season is the best, summers can be busy.
Extremely expensive for really bad food!!!!!
The halibut was cooked too long, so it was dry and chewy, the lobsterpasta was tasteless and the rest was a shame to call french food.
It has a good location, but don't eat! Have a drink, sit outside and enjoy the sea.
We gave the sommelier & his assistant each a chance to provide us w/ a bottle of wine I would like based on my specific taste ( I like round Napa Cabs). Two bottles & $400. later, I never got a glass I liked. I was looking for something specific & was guided incorrectly. We'll go back. I'll look at the list ahead of time & make an educated decision on my own.
As always, a brilliant evening at Avenue. We ordered from the pre-fixe menu--a great bargain available before 6:00 pm--and loved the selection of shrimp raw oysters and cherrystone clams, the octopus salad. The branzino main course was perfect as was the salmon, though the portion on the salmon was on the small side and could have used a bit more vegetables on the side. Desserts were excellent--Avenue's creme brulee and profiteroles--both highly recommended. A nice Muscadet accompanied the meal. Service was attentive and appropriate.
