Discovering the experience of dining in a place such as Cannes or Nice was never easier than now with the opening of the French Bistro and Raw Bar, Avenue. The only difference between dining at Avenue and dining along the Côte d'Azur, is that your gaze lands on waves on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean. Avenue is located along our side of the pond, on our own eastern shores in Long Branch, New Jersey. This gleaming new restaurant is designed by the internationally renowned architect David Collins, and the collaboration is nothing short of amazing.

Our second trip to Avenue this season, have to say they seamed to have a staff shortage issue last night have not experienced that before. We had to wait a long time after being seated then finally one manager came over and asked if we had been serviced we said no he then got us water and bread and took drink order when he brought the water and bread back. Then a second manager came over because he too notice the lack of attention. Then finally got a water and things started to flow. But the couple sitting next to us experienced the very same lack of attention a manager came over then finally a waiter to them and like us things started to move. It was busy at the reception desk but there were lots of empty tables in the middle section where the sat us ( did not like that section compared to where they normally seat us closer to the window area. Over all will not deter us from coming back but they need to resolve the lack of service attention asap

We love going to Avenue and sitting outdoors facing the beach. The food is good as well as the service. We have never been disappointed and always look forward to being there when in Long Branch.

We’ve been to Avenue a number of times and have previously enjoyed it. However, this time was disappointing- we had a 7.15 Saturday night reservation but were not seated until 8.15. The service was sparse and communication poor. Very disappointing especially for what was an anniversary celebration,

We had a great waiter he was a 10! The food mine in particular needed salt pepper and graded cheese to make it eatable love the restaurant love the food normally and the wait staff. Will not stop me from going back again and again and again

I informed the waiter that my son has a nut allergy when we were placing our appetizer order. He assured me that the octopus appetizer had no nuts because it’s not listed in the description on the menu. I asked him to double check with the chef. The octopus was served and we then asked the person who brought us our food, NOT OUR WAITER, to ask the chef. They ran back within 30 seconds to tell us that the sauce around the octopus has almonds in it. Fortunately, we avoided a problem. This was at the very beginning of our dining experience. The remainder of our dining experience was incredibly disappointing: the time that it took for our drinks and entrees to arrive; we had to request bread for the table when we saw it was being served to other tables; the HORRENDOUS condition of the ladies bathroom. We were celebrating a birthday and didn’t want to stay for dessert. We couldn’t get out of there fast enough. I will never recommend this place to anyone.

Terrible experience. We have dined there previously for the past 10 years as it was one of our favorite restaurants. This time everything was wrong. Noise level, flys around our food, waiter ignoring our request, our dirty dishes not being cleared, having to ask for the manager as our $350.00 meal took 3 1/2 hours get everything. The manager said the staff was new including herself, but unfortunately we will never return.
