Food wasn't so great this time around. It was restaurant week and I ordered off the regular menu. Ordered the octupus and it was smelly and not cooked so great. I had the flat iron steak asked for medium rare and it was more like medium.
First time at Avenue and took advantage of the Jersey Shore Restaurant week menu. Service was excellent. Food was very good.
Great bar and bartenders...driks were great ...atmosphere also...but food ws terrible...suprising for an upscale french restaurant...beouf bourguignon with pasta anf potatoes???
I usually rate this restaurant higher, but the service this time was horrible. We had to wait for our table when we got there, and the service was VERY slow. Also, no bread was brought to our table until we asked for it. The food was very good but the overall experience was not.
Went for restaurant week menu the salmon was undercooked and the beef was too well done however the appetizers were good and the desserts were good as well. The peach passion is an excellent drink
Service subpar including manager/Maitre d'. No one smiles. Food very good however.
Excellent as always. Nice ambiance. Terrific happy hour and food was superb. Service was attentive.
Avenue does a great job with their food - when it finally arrives. From the moment we walked in the door and were essentially not greeted to the time our bill arrived charging us for the Cappuccino we never received we were hard pressed to get any service. I am hoping that this experience is an anomaly because I have always enjoyed the food at this restaurant. Maybe the difference is that we usually come here off season - although technically it is not yet "in season" that's the only reason I can think of for this disappointing visit. In addition the music was extremely loud making conversation difficult.
Food excellent. Trout delicious. Beef bournaise portion smaller than expected. Dessert A1.
very noisy tables too close together for a party of two...not a great experience
Staff was very accommodating. I had friends from out of the area visiting. At the last minute they requested a table outside. The staff graciously accommodated us.
This was Jersey Shore Restaurant week and the $32.18 three course dinner is an excellent value. The beet salad was different from what I had here a few months ago, also as a beet salad, but huge. The dressing was bitter, with a touch of lemon. My wife's escargot were great.
She had trout for entree, I had beef bourgenoine, both excellent. The amount of green beans served on her plate could have served four people. The desserts were very good. The decaf coffees were stale.
Mostly good. There is one negative. The bar was so busy. We ordered second rounds of wine and cocktail when we were finishing appetizers hoping to have them with main courses. We tried to eat slowly but alas our drinks took so long and only came after we finished the meals. They gave us free dessert wines but not clear if they are for apologies or because they knew we were celebrating our anniversary. Anyway, the drinks slowness was bad and could have been handled much better.
The manager was very professional the server was very good and very pleasant the food was great as always
We went to Avenue for Easter brunch — food and service were excellent! My experience is consistent every time we go. Highly recommend.
Had Easter Brunch, so this may not be typical. Service was exceptional, very attentive and professional. Food was good.
Everything was fine, except the cost. Your competition is just as good except at a more reasonable cost.
We went here for Happy Hour on A Friday night. Drinks and bar Food exceeding expectations. We came back for Dinner the Next Night and again an amazing dinning experience. Service was Outstanding. For Happy Hour we tried the Lobster Roll, Baby Back Ribs, Escargot, Bar Mussels and the Pissaladiere. All were Outstanding. For Dinner the Next evening we had the Grilled Portuguese Octopus with was Excellent extremely tender full of Flavor. For the Main Course we had the Paella Royale which was Delicious , Large portion we could not finish it. As for the deserts again Magnificent. We had the Dark Chocolate Pot de Crème and a House Special with 3 different types of Chocolate with caramelized oranges. The ambiance and Water View was very nice. We even got to meet the Chief. Wow a truly amazing dinning experience. We dine out often in NYC and this meal Stood out among some of the best. Well Done!!
Had a great, leisurely dinner. We’ll be back.
Avenue is a wonderful place to dine in the summer, fall and spring. And it is often packed.
Winter, not so much.
There were only a handful of tables occupied when we arrived for a 7 PM reservation on a March Sunday. We were seated quickly and then left alone until the manager realized two of three servers were missing in action. When the waiter was summoned into action by executive order
things picked up and we were able to enjoy the rest of the meal.
But the slow start on a cold night was a disappointment and a surprise.
Excellent service and food as always
Absolutely perfect on every level!!! Our server Ljubica was fantastic. Get the Cassoulet...you won't be disappointed!!!
Nice atmosphere food was great and the waiter attentive. The Lobster pasta dish was delicious as was the steak. Best time to go is before or after the summer rush.
Terrible service, food quality, and value. Couldn't get out of there fast enough honestly.
Our family get together. We love seafood and Avenue always does a great job. Everything was delicious
Met friends for dinner early evening one weekday. Stopped for drinks at the bar first and bartender was friendly and attentive. Moved to dining room for dinner and waiter was the same. Food was very good and we were not rushed at all. Timing between appetizers, entrees, dessert was perfect. Will be returning and recommending to others.
The dinner was very good. Everything was better than we expected, except the French fries served with a great steak were not hot.
I love this place and it remains consistently good. The ambiance is sleek and modern and the view of the ocean is spectacular. The dining choices are varied and creative and who could resist the $32 prix fixe dinner? Cocktail menu is original.
A very minor complaint- the host was a bit churlish about not waiting for him to escort us to the table, when the bartender had already ushered us in.
Food was just HORRIBLE. Mac and Cheese that was watery. A flat iron stake that was some substandard cut of beef. Certainly not a flat iron steak. Frozen fries and ice cream that is more icy than creamy.
No wonder why Sirena next door is packed and this place was EMPTY during Pier Village Restaurant week.
Could not pay me to go back.
We went during Pier Village Restaurant week. Outstanding value for a complete three course dinner. Service excellent. This is a regular stop and will continue to be
We dined here for restaurant week. Food was delicious. Between the six patrons only one complaint about pasta being cooked too long. The salads were fresh and perfectly dressed. The main courses were choices between fish, beef, vegetarian and chicken. We had them all and they came out correct, hot and accompanied by wonderful sides. Nice selection of desserts. We all left full and happy.
I met two friends for lunch here. They do not live in the area, and I knew they would love Avenue as much as I do. Our waiter was exceptional, the food was great, and we thoroughly enjoyed our experience.
I’ve been to Avenue many times and have always enjoyed the experience. We go there for many special occasions but this was a very poor evening especially for Valentines Day. The lobster pasta was lacking any lobster flavor much less seeing a spec of it. Literally you would never know. It was a creole lobster ravioli and the only flavor was lemon.
The amuse Bouche was terrible - cold and presented like an after thought. The waiter just dropped it on our table like they were 2 leftover, cold mini pastries.
The dessert was great however and beautifully presented. Delicious cocktails too but both our entrees were awful and please don’t ever serve that amuse bouche again! Very disappointed.
We’ve had numerous meals at The Avenue. However, we won’t likely be back for some time as the food was barely palatable.
Went for Valentines Day dinner, food was good, portions were very small for the price. I get it Valentines Day
Settled us in a small table inches from another while they had several tables with better views that never had diners, Rude and cold reception....never again.
Great food as a reasonable cost. Had an issue with the valet parking which was handled by management.
Enjoyed a quiet Valentine dinner, in front of the fire place and views of the ocean.
