Discovering the experience of dining in a place such as Cannes or Nice was never easier than now with the opening of the French Bistro and Raw Bar, Avenue. The only difference between dining at Avenue and dining along the Côte d'Azur, is that your gaze lands on waves on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean. Avenue is located along our side of the pond, on our own eastern shores in Long Branch, New Jersey. This gleaming new restaurant is designed by the internationally renowned architect David Collins, and the collaboration is nothing short of amazing.

Our first visit: Loved everything about this restaurant, except the food. We had to return our duck l'orange as it was inedible. The Croque Madame was very good, though the bread was too hard. The burrata appetizer, wine and cafe creme were all very good. The choux pastry for the profiteroles was very disappointing and the chocolate sauce on top tasted like Hershey's syrup. The room and view of the ocean: Gorgeous!!! The staff and service: Outstanding!!! The bar: Looked like the place to be -- PACKED! The restaurant: EMPTY at 6 pm on a beautiful, warm summer night. Moral: Come to drink, not eat.

Much improved from the first time I ate here. The food was excellent and the service was outstanding! I will honestly chalk it up to “growing pains” as it was relatively new when I first went. Now that they have been in business for some time, I see that they have worked out the kinks and I can describe this visit as a perfect dinner! Well done!

Avenue has always been one of our favorite restaurants since it opened. We try to go there several times throughout the year. We’ve always experienced a wonderful situation with the food the ambience and the service. This last time, our 35th anniversary, the service was horrendous. Trying to push the food out Yet the drink service was minimal. We also experienced a very rough crowd in the area. After hearing what happened today I don’t think we’ll ever be back.

We haven’t been there in awhile totally changed the menu the staff is unbelievable anything you need they are right there the food was fresh and light a lot of options for everyone differently will be there again

I’ve been going to Avenue for 15 years but this was the first time since they changed management. The experience overall was horrible. The service was slow and chaotic. The food was average at best. No more cool music, in fact there was no music. The bus boy was walking around with a rolling cart to clear up plates. This place has gone downhill big time. Never going back.

High marks for food, drinks and wine. Love the ambiance overlooking the water, although the high ceilings make a bit noisier. The only downside was service. To be fair, the manager served us and did an excellent job. She saved the day. However, this only came after being sat in the middle of three other sections with waitstaff. We we in a sort of no man’s land where nobody was taking care of us for at least 15 + minutes before I needed to tell the hostess. My first question was why we were sat in a section with mo assigned server in the first place? It wasnt that whomever was assigned there was backed up. NObody had our table! I really like this restaurant a lot. Service should be the easiest thing to fix. We had issues with service the last time went as well. Fix it! Youre good beyond that!
