Nice view of ocean from my table. Waitress was kind, helpful, and knowledgeable. Food was good and arrived promptly. Bit of a wait to get the check.
Lovely atmosphere, excellent food, but very pricey. Happy to have reserved on a prix fixe night.
Avenue is always superb! We love it every time we go. From the breads through to dessert- it never disappoints!!
Can’t wait to go back.
Drove a long distance and it was well worth it. The menu had a few of our favorites plus many food items we would like to try on future visits.
Very quiet and cozy as we were there during the week in winter. Parking is free during the winter months and no problem getting a space. Don't know what it's like during the "shore" season.
The fireplace, tasty food and commendable service made this a wonderful dining experience.
The night was a disaster. We had a 10pm reservation on New Years Eve and we were not seated until 1050pm. We were told that the people who had the earlier seating were supposed to only stay 2 hours but were not leaving. It was the restaurants responsibility to make sure the first seating people left as scheduled. The food took forever. We didn't get our entree until after the ball dropped. Very disappointing. The food was mediocre at best.
Avenue on New Year's Eve offered a prix fixed menu. The appetizer or soup choices were varied. My wife enjoyed her crab salad and the green soup that I had was very tasty. The main courses offered varied, my wife had a steak, prepared exactly as she ordered it. She commented on the high quality of the meat. . I had a striped bass that was a good as it gets. The dessert platted, coffee and tea were top notch. Our server ws excellent. She was attentive, answered all questions, helped in the wine selection and had a nice sense of humor. Overall, a most enjoyable dinner.
We went here for New Year's Eve Dinner. We had an earlier seating at 6:30pm. You would expect at that time that things wouldn't be backed up yet or the restaurant to be out of sorts. It felt like everything was rushed, no sooner that we finished our salad were they throwing down our dinner. Our waiter barely ever checked in on us which prevented us from ordering another round of drinks, which would have increased the check and his tip. So that was a loss for him and us. Also, it was a 4 course menu and we just never received the first course. I asked the waiter about it 3 different times and it never came out. At the end of the meal he just sort of said sorry. So strange? Also, our dessert came out but no one asked if we wanted coffee. The food runner couldn't take the order. Our server came over after we finished dessert and asked us then if we wanted coffee.... terrible timing. No we don't, we are done? So we paid and went to the bar and had a drink. It was good food but terrible service and timing of the meal. We traveled 40 minutes to get to the restaurant and it wasn't a great experience.
Food over priced small portions great drinks
Avenue continues its tradition of excellent cuisine, attentive service, and sophisticated ambiance.
Great food cozy atmosphere and professional server it’s great to go off season
We’ve been to Avenue several times & have always had great meals. We were there celebrating my son’s birthday & three generations found menu items each enjoyed. We like going in the fall, winter & spring because it is easy to find parking during these seasons. The staff is always welcoming, pleasant & accommodating.
A nice atmosphere, but a little noisy. The food price is in line with other area high end restaurants and the food is very good. The extensive wine list is interesting, but ridiculously priced. This may discourage repeat visitors as they do not offer any reasonably priced wines. The service was slightly rushed.
Nice bar and raw bar we should have stayed with that but the pasta dish was very over cooked and the paella was horrible especially for $40
Always enjoy the meal, good solid quality & presentation. The service is pleasant, warm & attentive.
Still a chic place with the added appeal of the ability to talk to you dinner partners. A rare occurrence in
We arrived early & they were kind enough to seat us. The bartender made a really nice spicy margarita and I had a glass of wine. Our waitress was adorable and you could tell that she was very service oriented. She had a thick accent, not sure from where but she did an excellent job of describing the menu to us and explaining the different dishes. I ordered the dover sole and it was delicious. My dining parnter ordered the lamb shank and he said that it was not good at all. When the manager asked how our meal was we let him know that the fish was great but the lamb no so much. He just nodded and walked away. I'm not really sure why he asked how our meal was if he didn't care. I wasn't expecting to be compensated for the lamb but thought it would be a nice gesture to offer a digestif, coffee or dessert. He sort of ran away and we never saw him again.
My how the mighty have fallen. This used to be a great place. No longer. The maitre d was snooty and tried to seat us in the center near a table of 12 young girls depriving us of better ocean views. Not gonna happen. He actually sounded miffed when we asked for another table.
Our server was delightful and managed to keep smile on her beautiful face probably knowing that she was serving substandard food. The veggie burger was served with a huge mound of tough, dry kale and the burger was a tasteful mess. It was the worst I have ever had. The fries were not even as good as McDonalds. The salmon platter was served with the most meager of accompaniments that were nearly pulverized and some sort of sliced bread with the smallest glob of cream cheese. We didn’t even bother to try one of the unimaginative desserts All in all it was pretty bad. Such a shame to have such million dollar views and serve food not worth a dime.
Love this place. Food is great every time.. service is excellent
Very excited to have gone here during Jersey Shore Restaurant Week - the escargot and boeuf bourguignon was absolutely to die for!
One of our favorite places at the shore. Went during Restaurant Week. $32.15 was a barigin for the food and service.
Not only was the food excellent but our waitress and the helper cleaning away plates... were superb. As a matter of fact everyone treated us like honored guests. We would return there in a heart beat.
The Avenue is beautiful! When you walk into the restaurant, the architecture of the building itself is gorgeous and being right on the ocean, the view is amazing!! Having driven an hour, on a Friday night in the pouring rain, we were happy to be in such a pretty building and we hoped for a great meal.
The Expresso Martini was overly sweet tasting like chocolate syrup. We returned it and ordered a different cocktail but it didn’t arrive until it was time for dessert. It’s understandable that the bartender was busy, we came early, a 5:30 reservation, and there seemed to be more people at the bar than seated in the rather empty dining room. The traffic in the dining room did pick up later but it never got overly crowded. That being said, there is an obligation for food service and bartending to work hand in hand and when they do not the dining experience suffers, as did ours. We returned the second cocktail as well, a Dirty Martini which we did not taste as we were about to eat the dessert that was on the table. To be fair it’s important to note that We were not charged for either cocktail.
On to the food. I hate that this review sounds so negative because I do wish it wasn’t but I’m simply going to be honest. For apps we had the Escargot, Assiette de Fruit de Mer - Three Oysters, Three Clams, Two Shrimp, the Spanish Octopus salad and the Kale salad. All bland. My husband added salt to the Escargot, the Mignonette sauce was simply sherry vinegar and the seafood was tiny and tasteless. You have no idea how it pains me to say that!! The Octopus was not tough but mixed in with the beans, there was just very little flavor. My daughter said the Kale salad was good.
Entrees were Boeuf Bourguignon, Dutch Country Chicken and Trout Amandine. All needed seasoning to some degree. Everything was cooked well, no plate was horrible but nothing was stellar.
Dessert was Pot de Creme and Profiteroles. The Pot de Crema was delish finally something to ooh and ahh over!!
Great diner!! Awesome food and service
Martinis were good. Food was great. Took advantage of Restaurants Week. No summer crowds. Definitely would go back again.
Great food!!! Nice setting! Will go again!!! The service was top notch.
The building is gorgeous with high ceilings and a beautiful fireplace. Our server was very nice and the food was yummy. The appetizer I had was octopus salad, which was a bit disappointing considering it had olives (which I am not a fan of) and the octopus was overdone and chewy. My meal, however, was out of this world with perfectly cooked salmon and lentils with butter foam surrounding the plate. It was divine. I would definitely come back and maybe just order a different appetizer.
My husband & I went during restaurant week. I’ve lived here for 6 yrs now and tried all the other restaurants nearby and thought it was time to give it a try.
The food was VERY DISAPPOINTING! They served bread so hard I nearly cracked a tooth on it. We did ask for softer bread which the waiter brought promptly but why give us that in the first place! The escargot were tiny and rubbery with no taste. The mussels were so salty, there was no other taste than salt. The thing that did not leave us totally disgusted was the desserts. They were delicious! So if I were to ever return for anything it would be scenery and dessert, because both are lovely.
Restaurant Week special was excellent as usual. Good variety of food to choose from and everyone at my table loved the food
High ceilings, fireplace with seating around it. The food is delicious. Classic French cuisine. Good cocktails, our server was friendly and knowledgeable. On a clear day/night, outstanding views of the Atlantic. Nice place, excellent atmosphere.
Just love this place! Great service! Great Bar Tenders! Food is delicious!!!!!
One of our regular stops- never disappoints. Will definitely return. Our server was EXCELLENT
Fish was undercooked. And a half empty restaurant the chef refuse to make a simple substitution standing by his very firm policy. Maybe that is why the restaurant is more than half empty on a Saturday night at 7:30. The manager was nice as was the waitress.
Great atmosphere, great service, great food!
Always enjoy our dining experience here. Food is consistently good.
Avenue is consistently amazing in making a perfect experience for their patrons.
We had a lovely anniversary dinner. The food was delicious and the service very good. However we were very disappointed with the host who sat us. The restaurant was very quiet with only a few tables filled during our entire meal.
We were asked where we would like to sit and we requested a corner window table which was one of several empty tables. We were told that we couldn’t sit at the table. The entire time we were there the table never was used. We come to the Avenue very often and it is one of our favorite restaurants. This happened to us one other time with the same host. The evening was lovely but it was soured by the table situation.
Excellent food and excellent service. No matter what you order, you cant go wrong!
Always a joy to dine here, most especially outside! The food is delicious...love the Moules Frites! The service great as well.
Food was good. Service could have been better. A large party came in and our table of 6 was forgotten.
Have been here many times in the past 10 years.
A great place to go for Happy Hour and the Bar menu.
Dinners are really well prepared and appetizing.
Celebrated my wife's and her best friend birthday at this location. The views are awesome, we made certain to do reservations as it's in a busy area. We were seated upon arrival and confirming our reservation. We ordered octupus, crab cake salad calamari, we had ravioli lobster pasta, filet mignon, Alaskan trout, paella and two other plates I can't remember and dessert. All the food was superb, we didn't complain. Ah we also had capuchino it's really good not to hot or to cold. The place welcomes casual dressing even though for the price it should be more of a dress to impress but it's great that's it's open to everyone. I recommend this place to everyone looking to sit down and conversate and enjoy amazing food.
