I’m a returning customer, and I absolutely love this place! Sat at the bar. Connor was awesome and very attentive. Had the brisket tacos (my favorite tacos on the menu). Heat overall experience, as usual. Keep up the good work!
Meet up with friends for dinner. Staff was attentive friendly and knowledgeable. There was a local band playing in the bar area and it was really nice! Our waitress was so nice and professional! Great atmosphere!
Our server, while friendly was often MIA. There were 4 in our party and 3 of our diners were served and it took at least 10 minutes for the last meal to come out (it was not a meal that should have taken so long) and that was after we had to flag our server down and ask where the meal was. At the end of the meal, the server asked if we wanted to see the dessert menu, we said yes. She was the MIA for a good long time and when she finally resurfaced she said she'd be back with the check, which was fine by then.
I got the muscles, which were delicious, however it never mentioned pork in the description, and it looked like Chorizo was added. I don't eat pork so it was disappointing. Also realized it after I had eaten a few. They do give a really nice helping of bread with the muscles, which was much appreciated.
I didn't think the menu items were worth the price.
Service was incredibly slow. Food was average. French toast came out burnt, but still managed to taste pretty decent. Server didn’t come by to check quality of the food until significantly later.
The saving grace was the food. Otherwise we overcame too many hurdles to go back or recommend to anyone.
A few friends and I celebrated my birthday at Avenue Kitchen & Bar. In general, the food was good and the service was attentive. The only notable misstep was the roasted cauliflower, which was served as half of head of cauliflower. It didn't quite get roasted and was room temperature when served.
Nice place with reasonable variety in the menu. Crazy loud but it wasn’t annoying.
It was great but they were out of menu items. Menu online not the same as menu at restaurant. Disappointing.
We can’t stop going to avenue kitchen every other week. The food takes the cake. Great wine but service was a little slower than normal. Still on our monthly radar
Unfortunately a cold crab cake affected our experience. Hard to understand how the crab cake was cold and the potato pancake that accompanied it was cold, but that’s the way it goes. We had a capable server, but she was over extended so when we wanted to catch her to point it out, it took a while to get an adjustment. Restaurant did take it off of the check and replaced it with a warm one. Some of the appetizers were excellent, others like the guacamole were ordinary. Wine was better than the mixed drinks.
Totally enjoyed low key vibe, food diversity and flavors, and attentive service. We enjoyed crab soup, guacamole, incrediburger, jerk chicken tacos, and crab cake....loved the varied selections. Would be nice to sit in bar too and enjoy extended happy hour choices.
This was a poor dining experience.
Our waiter was inattentive and clearly didn’t care about service. He was painfully slow. We requested iced tea or lemonade our waiter told us that your restaurant didn’t serve either but later we saw what looked like lemonade being served to another customer.
Your older waiter (with the bald head) took the water pitcher from our table, filled the glasses at the table behind us then put the pitcher back on our table. That was tasteless and totally unacceptable.
I ordered your fish tacos. The size of the fish on each taco was so small and over salted that I just gave up and ordered another cola. I was told that the roasted chicken and the rock fish were good but none of us would stay for dessert.
I selected this restaurant to spend an evening with my family. I was so embarrassed. I would never come back neither would anyone from our party. I would never recommend your restaurant.
The service at Avenue Kitchen Bar was excellent. The waiter was very knowledgeable and very accessible. The food was just ok. My crab cake wasn’t the best. I have had better and the blue crab Mac and cheese was bland. Overall the ambiance and service was good and I will return.
Thanks for the great review!
Met long-time friends for a meal. The service was wonderful-everyone was pleasant to deal with and we appreciated the fact that we had very food dood, good drinks, and no one was rushed us out the door. Will definitely put this one on my list!
Not crowed service was excellent and food very good i was there for brunch.
Thanks for the awesome review!!
We saw bugs. Blood was amazing and awesome bartender. Service was a little slows
We had a great time celebrating my mom’s birthday! Every dish tasted terrific. Can’t wait to go back!
We're glad that you had a great time celebrating your mom's birthday. Thanks so much for the wonderful review and hope to see you soon!
Fantastic dinner again. Nice new cocktail list. They definitely bumped up their cocktail program.
Fedhill22, thank you so much for the great review. We really appreciate you and we hope to see you soon!
Loved the food--beautifully presented, plentiful portions, and very creative menu. I found the chairs however to be very hard and uncomfortable--though probably fine for younger customers! Some cushions on the seats would be a welcome addition.
Great specials and the new cocktail menu is divine! Highly recommend ♥️
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review! Please come back soon.
Really liked it. Good menu for a variety of tastes and preferences. We had a large group with some young people, a vegetarian and a vegan, and everyone found something they liked. With all the light fare options, the entrees were excellent -- one chicken and one scallops dish were ordered. The flavors and ingredients were interesting without being overly precious. Sorry we missed dessert!
Thank you for taking the time to review us! We appreciate the feedback and hope you'll return soon.
Went on Thursday to have Bronzino, for their catch of the day, which they ran out of. So that was cool.. Food came out 45 minutes late. They comped our meal for the delay which was appreciated but was quite frustrated on a Thursday night when it was not a packed house and only 5 tables had people there. People that came in after us got their appetisers and entrees before us! We understand some food are already prepped but like come on, it’s disheartening to see another table get served an whole set of appetisers and entree when you are trying to patiently wait for salmon (which should not take long tonmakr$! and a crispy chicken sandwich (which is deep fried). We have dined here many times and this is the first time I was thoroughly disappointed with the speed of service. The waitress kept telling us the food was coming out soon, but I don’t know, 45 minutes is not soon (granted she isn’t in charge of the kitchen).
It took a while for our waiter to take our order and for us to get our food. Also, we had to keep calling the waiter back because he kept forgetting parts of our order. The food was good but the service was not that great. Additionally, the women’s bathroom ran out of toilet paper and it was not restocked the whole time we were there.
Service eas terrible. The male waiter was distracted and seemed annoyed when we tried to return a beverage that was not to our liking. It took forever to have dishes removed and i waited forever for my check.i got up and walked to the bar for condiments because the track record of the waiter showed that my meal would go cold if I waited for jom to return. The food was good and I will go back and request a new waiter if he is assigned for sure
Nice spot for a date nite, even a happy hour or a girls nite as the wife says. My wife and I had the crab cake dinners, not what I expected, wasn't like the traditional cake it advertises as a half pound crabcake not real...ok if you like the gourmet style cake ( no old bay) one of those ones that yu get it and say I wasnt sure in the first place but tue half pound sold me. Now, what we did like was the shrimp and grits, a very different spin in this dish it was great. I could have gotten that and been all good. Wouldnt get the crabcakes again but will go back and try something else.
We really enjoyed the food. Our server was delightful, and the jazz jam session was an added bonus!
It's more a maybe than a no. But don't go on the night when they are doing Fantasy Football; it's not just energetic - it's really noisy, with random hollering.
Great neighborhood gem with a relaxed atmosphere and great food.
I went to the Avenue Kitchen & Bar for a birthday celebration and I absolutely loved it! It was Saturday karaoke brunch. The noise level wasn't too loud and it was a fun environment. The food was delicious and our server was very attentive!
Restaurant week - limited menu but enjoyed the offerings. Ambiance and staff were totally friendly.
Restaurant week menu was very interesting and tasty ! Nice new cocktail menu. It’s our favorite place to go in Hampden.
All around, outstanding!!! Hands down, the best restaurant in Hampden.
We were looking for something close to JHU's Homewood campus to take friends from out of town for lunch. Food Market is usually our go-to in Hampden but it is only open for dinner on weeknights. This was perfect--we happened to catch Restaurant week, so everyone got a 2 course meal for $20/person, which was a great deal. Highly recommend the crispy brussel sprouts. The mussels were also great although a bit salty for me. Our server was friendly, service was quick, and the environment was quite nice. Only things to note are the entrance is located in the basement, and there were 1 or 2 small flies buzzing around our table, but aside from that, an excellent experience! We will definitely come again.
We were very disappointed when we got there and were told it was restaurant week. Therefore, we were provided with a very limited menu. We had decided to go there due to the normal menu and based on a past experience. We were ultimately allowed to order off of the bar menu, even though you are not supposed to do that in the main dining room. The owner made an exception. Unfortunately, one of the items we wanted off of the bar menu was no longer available due to running out. Therefore, our choices were limited even further. The menu for restaurant week was $35/pp with 3 courses. While not a bad deal, unfortunately, it was not what we expected.
Food was good and our waitress wasn't as attentive as I'd like, but she was friendly. I just wish they would have more publicly advertised that during Restaurant Week, that was the ONLY menu available. We showed up intending to get some drinks and apps and MAYBE an entree or two, and all had to get three-course meals.
Aside from our first round of drinks taking 25 minutes to get, our server Clay was great and the food was delicious!!
Very tasty food and nice atmosphere
attractive restaurant with good food and good service.
The server was very knowledgeable and attentive. We went to celebrate our twins 24th birthday, all 6 if us really enjoyed our meals. Interesting blend of flavors for the daily catch.
