Avenue Ratings and Reviews
We were a party of 11 celebrating a 72nd birthday, and we ranged in age from 8 to 72. Everything was just terrific, from the wine to the meals to the service. We decided to dine here after having breakfast one day last month which was also amazing. The service and food both are impeccable. Thank you Avenue!
Rather surprisingly despite it being Valentines Day, the experience wasn’t all that bad. Even at 6:30 the place was packed. We opted for a Buisson-Redon white Bordeaux (great) and a forgettable Pinot Noir. It seemed easiest to order the 3 course pris fixe offering: beet/ goat cheese salad, apple- chicken sausage, pork tenderloin, fillet, creme brûlée, and banana crisp. All were good and most importantly on a holiday, there was no sign of mass production and hours under heat lamps. Whether there were additional tables crammed into the space is unclear, but the ambient sound was at least double the usual at Avenue.
Went for lunch with my husband. Turkey salad was nothing to brag about. Plain with no taste to the red vinaigrette. Steak salad was marginally better. Server was adequate but not engaging. Ordered a glass of red wine that was $14 and the pour was pathetic. No where near the norm. Not going to be at the top of the list to return to.
My order was incorrect twice. By that time kids had eaten and were ready to leave. The food that I received that was accurate was very good. The service was nice to take our order and to correct the food; however, everything else inaccurate. It seemed loud to try and conversate. I would return but likely without kids when I had time to spend dining. Please don't lose sight that the food and wine was tasty.
Only reason why my rating on food was not higher is because my meal came out at best slightly warm. It was part of restaurant week and it was a beef with noodles. It was delicious. The salads were great. My wife’s fish was plentiful and good. My desert was not good. Was a cake and dry. Apple crisp desert my wife had was good. Loved the ambiance.
Came here for the first time for a Girls' Night Out. Between the 4 of us, we had Beef Daube with rigatoni, pumkin ravioli, mahi mahi special, and filet frites. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. In addition, our wait staff was friendly and attentive our entire stay. I would recommend this place and is on my list of places to return.
This place was great! We got there right as lunch was ending, and happy hour beginning, so the server was kind enough to allow us to order from both menus. We had steak sandwiches, fries, a burger and really good salad. I would highly recommend the Avenue for a nice meal for anyone!
The PEI oysters were probably the best we’ve ever had! And we are from the East Coast. Service was wonderful. Since Duff’s closed we have been looking for the special occasion restaurant and I think we’ve found it. Been for breakfast and lunch and the smoked salmon is about the best in the city. Keep up the good work!
The food was honest and delicious. There were a few things with the service staff that were a little strange, but I would attribute this to some of them being new perhaps. The place seems very upscale, but the TV's and casual attire would say so otherwise. I liked the decor a lot and our waiter was very friendly and knowledgeable. I would go back again to try more items on the menu.
Sunday brunch: 1 pm, so fairly quiet. Very good $8 Tito’s bloody Mary’s, then biscuits and gravy (tons of good sausage in the gravy), served with very gently scrambled eggs and the smoked trout/potato salad (with additional and perfectly cooked eggs over easy). Really couldn’t ask for more and at a very reasonable price.
Decent business or friend gathering restaurant that has a classy atmosphere and crowd. The food selection I found a bit odd as there is not really a genre, however the flavors were excellent in the chicken/bread pudding dish. The wine selection was unique and not overpriced. I'd put this venue on par with a Libertine or Napoli dining experience without all the neuvo riche hanging around.
