Quite Delicious - We ordered the trout (cooked to perfection with a tasty butter & almonds on top) and short ribs. Generous servings both. Bread was warm and fresh. Service was attentive, and our server was friendly and knowledgeable about the food and drink menus. I will say that we hadn't been here in over a year because the last meal wasn't as good. Decided to try again and were impressed. Highly recommend.
As usual, the food and service were great. We were a lunch party of 6 and were seated in the second room so the setting was very quiet --- a good thing when trying to hear people at the opposite end of a longish table. Each person had a different selection and all commented on the good taste of their lunch. A real plus to a fun friends' lunch.
Always a good choice and one of the few breakfast, brunch , lunch and dinner places available with a wide menu to meet many tastes.
good foo/fair value/great trout/good service/friendly
As long as you can find a quiet spot, everything else is very good - food, service and ambiance.
we went for Sunday Brunch, the food was excellent. I heard that the happy hours are great too, and hope to try that out next.
Great food. Great drinks. Great service. A little noisy, but good ambiance.
We were a party of 11 celebrating a 72nd birthday, and we ranged in age from 8 to 72. Everything was just terrific, from the wine to the meals to the service. We decided to dine here after having breakfast one day last month which was also amazing. The service and food both are impeccable. Thank you Avenue!
My husband and I have followed Bryan Carr for a long time, but had not yet had a chance to dine at Avenue. We decided to make it the spot for our post-Valentine's Day dinner and enjoyed a very nice meal. The ambiance was wonderful; we sat in the room with the fireplace and although the restaurant was full we found the noise level more than acceptable (other reviewers complained about this, but we could converse easily). When I booked the reservation, we noted with delight that oysters are on the menu. We enjoyed a dozen from New Brunswick and they were wonderfully fresh and just the right size. Instead of a full entrée, we decided to graze the small plates and enjoyed the smoked salmon, an order of the gnocchi, an order of the pumpkin ravioli and an order of the roasted turnips. Everything was delicious and just the right size for tasting and sharing. (Other reviewers complained about the portion sizes, but they are by definition, small plates). The pumpkin ravs were our favorites -- that sauce! There was a nice wine selection by the glass; I had a sparkling wine with the oysters and a dry white with the other items. My husband appreciated the good representation of local beers by the bottle or can. For dessert we split an order of vanilla ice cream -- he with chocolate sauce and me with caramel. John, our server, was excellent despite having a lot of tables to mind. He apologized for what he perceived was some slowness with items coming from the kitchen, but we thought the pacing was just right. Overall, Avenue hits it out of the park and although the meal was fairly expensive (near the $200 range with tip), we felt it was perfectly appropriate for celebrating our 30th Valentine's Day together.
I have always ordered the wonderful trout at Avenue, but decided to try the duck instead....it was outstanding! My friend had the roasted chicken, which she said was great.
Great food and wine! Atmosphere were nice and very cool interior. We split the pork chop and a pasta dish and couldn't decide which we liked better! Definitely will be back!
Excellent classy bohemian chic restaurant in the heart of Clayton. It’s an excellent ambiance for a couple or group of friends who wish to socialize with excellent food and drinks.
Delicious food. Brittany was a very good server
Rather surprisingly despite it being Valentines Day, the experience wasn’t all that bad. Even at 6:30 the place was packed. We opted for a Buisson-Redon white Bordeaux (great) and a forgettable Pinot Noir. It seemed easiest to order the 3 course pris fixe offering: beet/ goat cheese salad, apple- chicken sausage, pork tenderloin, fillet, creme brûlée, and banana crisp. All were good and most importantly on a holiday, there was no sign of mass production and hours under heat lamps. Whether there were additional tables crammed into the space is unclear, but the ambient sound was at least double the usual at Avenue.
Went for lunch with my husband. Turkey salad was nothing to brag about. Plain with no taste to the red vinaigrette. Steak salad was marginally better. Server was adequate but not engaging. Ordered a glass of red wine that was $14 and the pour was pathetic. No where near the norm. Not going to be at the top of the list to return to.
Always our favorite place to dine. Great food, perfect service, selections and specials. Love it!!!
Always good food. One of my favorite restaurants , i have never been disappointed
They menu was adequate perhaps the prixe fix was limiting. I think this is a decent restaurant. You will not be wowed nor dissapointed
My order was incorrect twice. By that time kids had eaten and were ready to leave. The food that I received that was accurate was very good. The service was nice to take our order and to correct the food; however, everything else inaccurate. It seemed loud to try and conversate. I would return but likely without kids when I had time to spend dining. Please don't lose sight that the food and wine was tasty.
Went for dinner for the first time through Clayton Restaurant Week. I enjoyed a lovely dinner with my mother and we both agreed we would like to come back in the near future!
We had to wait a long time but the server made it right. Good food Great service!!
Only reason why my rating on food was not higher is because my meal came out at best slightly warm. It was part of restaurant week and it was a beef with noodles. It was delicious. The salads were great. My wife’s fish was plentiful and good. My desert was not good. Was a cake and dry. Apple crisp desert my wife had was good. Loved the ambiance.
Came here for the first time for a Girls' Night Out. Between the 4 of us, we had Beef Daube with rigatoni, pumkin ravioli, mahi mahi special, and filet frites. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. In addition, our wait staff was friendly and attentive our entire stay. I would recommend this place and is on my list of places to return.
Girls Night Out
Good appetizer and dessert, wasn’t amazed by the entree. Great ambiance and menu. Service was a little slow but very nice. Great drink menu.
Food was excellent, but service wasn't the best (compounded by how difficult it was to hear).
This place was great! We got there right as lunch was ending, and happy hour beginning, so the server was kind enough to allow us to order from both menus. We had steak sandwiches, fries, a burger and really good salad. I would highly recommend the Avenue for a nice meal for anyone!
Awesome restaurant with terrific service, run well, and incredible food. Never disappoints.
We had brunch at the Avenue, and the meal was great! We started off with blueberry lemon pancakes with maple syrup, which was divine! We also enjoyed eggs and potatoes with homemade, very delicious biscuits. Ashley served us, and she did a spectacular job!
Terrific as always. Great options; good food, good service and good atmosphere. One of our favorites!!!
It was amazing! We loved everything we tried! Highly recommend.
Warm atmosphere and great food! The service is quite good as well. Just enough but not intrusive. Avenue is one of our favorite Clayton restaurants.
The PEI oysters were probably the best we’ve ever had! And we are from the East Coast. Service was wonderful. Since Duff’s closed we have been looking for the special occasion restaurant and I think we’ve found it. Been for breakfast and lunch and the smoked salmon is about the best in the city. Keep up the good work!
Food is always good here. Never disappointed. Nice wine selection as well
I have dinner here several times a month and recommend the restaurant to friends.
Went for the Christmas Eve prix fixe dinner. Only complaint is the pork was a little dry. Other wise, everything was great
Good and service is always wonderful.
Good food. No WIFI.
Our best meal there ever. Sunday, everything was clicking and the experience was a WOW! I’m glad we were there.
Pleasant surprise. Delicious food and great service with reasonable prices for Clayton
The food was honest and delicious. There were a few things with the service staff that were a little strange, but I would attribute this to some of them being new perhaps. The place seems very upscale, but the TV's and casual attire would say so otherwise. I liked the decor a lot and our waiter was very friendly and knowledgeable. I would go back again to try more items on the menu.
