I follow a specific macro diet and had asked if they had a nutritional menu before I went. They unfortunately didn’t, however I was put in touch with the chef who made a special meal just for me that met my dietary needs. The food was spectacular, wine was great, and the service wonderful! Was surprised it wasn’t more busy on a Friday night because it was so good! Will definitely be back!
Everything was fantastic!! Server was excellent ant the food was perfect!
We arrived for our table and got a blank stare from the hostess. Waited for 15 minutes and were seated at a table that was half filthy. They forgot to clean half the table and there were still dirty glasses on it. There were only place settings for two of us. We pointed this out and got up from the table to give them space to clean it. We waited. And waited. And waited. We eventually pointed this out to the hostess who then escorted us back to the table. The table had a spray bottle of cleaning solution on it. We never sat down. She just walked away. We couldn’t believe it.
Our visit to Avenue was the third restaurant in as many evenings. It is an unpretentious space with clean lines and uncluttered seating. Best short ribs! Hands down; nicely presented, tender and flavorful with fresh, crispy green beans and a crunchy-on-the outside, soft-on-the-inside potato cake. Crispy warm bread and a delightfully sweet-tart house-made lemonade rounded out the meal. Our server, Sam was attentive, and his assistant saw to it our water glasses were full and dirty plates were whisked away. In all honesty, Avenue was not my first choice for the evening, but I am glad we ended up there. Lots of kudos from the family on this choice.
Food and service much better than similar restaurants.
Food was outstanding. Chef came to table and advised on wine and was able to answer my question about if the fish was sustainability caught. Love Avenue.
What a fun place. Small tables for an intimate setting. We sat next to the fire on a cool March evening. Recommend the toasted beet salad or tomato soup as the appetizer and the duck confit casserole for the entree. Perfect for date night on the way to the theater.
Outstanding Puligny Montrachet....
Even though we had a reservation, we were seated next to the service station. We were told that the other more desirable tables were taken. We ordered iced tea and had to ask again for lemon. I had the smoked salmon salad and it contained flaked salmon and lot of lettuce with very tiny and scarce pea pods.
It was enjoyable as always. Avenue is my favorite 'Go to' restaurant in the Clayton area.
There were a few new selections on the main menu. My friend and e I selected the Cassoulet. It was outstanding. A very hearty dish for a cold night.
Wonderful dinner with good friends who had never been to Avenue. They loved it and we will all be back.
An overall wonderful evening, good food, excellent service, even allowed to sample wines before selecting. I recommend without any reservation.
Always dependable and flavorful! We are always pleased when this is our choice. I don’t mean to sound boring; we’re very pleased with the selections and service here!
Great Valentine Day restaurant. Set menu had many choices for any preference. EVERY table was taken so the noise level was higher than normal. Slight mix-up with the kitchen but restaurant made up for issue. Tables were very close.....but Avenue wanted to accommodate as many people as possible. We did not feel rushed in any way. We will go again.
This Valentine's limited menu dinner was the second trip to Avenue. My wife and I had a very enjoyable meal there a year or so before. All four of the present day eaters thought the food was excellent even with the limited menu. Also the spacing was such that we could actually hear each other talk. We met a couple at the bar whom we have know for a long time. They like Avenue so much they eat there regularly. All four of us will go back.
Excellent service throughout our stay. Food was excellent and prepared as we ordered all course.
Outstanding! Chef Brian excels at making seemingly mundane foods burst with flavor. Must have their home-made pistachio ice cream!
Nice, intimate restaurant with great food. Everyone enjoyed the dinner, and I'm sure will be back.
Great food, great service, great place to have a business lunch
Servers not well trained with poor attitudes. Expensive for the quality, portion size and very causal atmosphere. Started with a house salad which consisted of just a plate of lettuce for $9. Wouldn't recommend nor return. They're r better choices out there for $150/couple spent.
Great place for a business meeting, morning or at lunch!
It’s always a great place to dine—I’ve never had a less than great experience at Avenue!
Great food. Great personnel. Friendly, neighborly, and always exciting menu options. A Clayton treasure!
Mediocre- the waiter really knew nothing about wine, yet was making suggestions. Not sure he knew what the heck he was talking about. The service was PAINFULLY slow. We literally had to ask multiple people to even find him. I ordered a Caesar salad as a starter. It’s was all iceberg lettuce. Not sure there was any romaine. I could barley taste the dressing. Had the gnocchi appetizer as my entree. It was excellent! ( all my stars are about the gnocchi) We wanted to order dessert and another beverage- but the waiter never came back. We gave up and just got the check. The place was packed. The ambiance is nice. Good parking. SLOW service.
We ❤️ this place. The specials are always interesting and the regular menu is a winner!
Perfect environment for a business meeting lunch! Service was perfect! The entrees were fabulous!
I hate to bore you with the obvious... It was great!
We were there for Clayton Restaurant Week and the restaurant didn't seem adequately staffed to handle the volume. The food quality was good, the service a bit slow.
Avenue is a good, all purpose place to eat. We were going to a play at the Edison Theater so it was just 5 minutes from there. They have good, American-style food. I had the sirloin frites and the steak was perfect, the service attentive but not intrusive and the ambiance warm. I recommend it for any occasion, or no occasion--just dinner.
Our service was good, very cozy nice restaurant, and I had an amazing apple tart (although kind of surprised it was served ice cold). I thought the rest of the food was just ok and kind of bland. I did not like the French onion soup at all, it tasted like water with lots of thyme in it, the sole needed salt and lemon juice terribly!
Don’t know that I’ll go back but I’m glad I tried it.
we were there for brunch on saturday. everyone at our table enjoyed their meals. i had the biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs. i had requested a couple side items which were delivered accurately. i wasn't wild about the biscuits - they were flavored - i think with rosemary, and i thought it clashed a bit with the sausage. our server was attentive and friendly.
Good food but not great. Service was slow but nice. Not worth the price
We had a very nice meal at Avenue. We ordered from the Taste of Clayton special menu and the food was very tasty. We ordered the Salmon and the Beef Daube and traded plates half way through.
The only real complaint is our usual one. The restaurant was too noisy for conversation. Which I suppose explains why 6 of the 8 people near us had their cellphones out. I guess we're hopelessly old fashioned, but I've always thought that the reason you dine with others is to share time and conversation with them.
Excellent meal. I had the salmon, which was very good and my partner had a beef over noodles, which was good, not great. Good size servings. Huge and delicious side salad. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. .Will definitely to back.
I tried Avenue as part of restaurant week and really enjoyed my meal. The portions were generous, the food was tasty, and the service was excellent. I will definitely return for another meal!
Brunch! This is our favorite place for weekend branching. Always specials (I always especially hope for the “chicken and biscuits “. Had that twice, in the past. Surprises and menu changes are frequent enough (and not to drastic) to keep things interesting.
all facets of my lunch were fine. Food was delicious and service was very good. The place was packed by my reservation had saved my table and so all went well
I have been here with my family, baby included, and without the the baby and each time it is comfortable and delicious! They accommodate a stroller/baby! But also as just a couple, we find it relaxing and the perfect intimate dinner setting. BRUNCH is DELICIOUS!
Consistently outstanding! Great food, wonderful environment, and friendly chef!
Our New Year’s dining experience was excellent. The food was an extra step above the normal. It was more expensive but worth it for a special occasion.
