   We tried the Avelo Bar a couple of weeks earlier and the food was average - meh. We came back wanting to try the Avelo Restaurant 8-course tasting menu since we live an hour away and with traffic, it can take up to 1.5hrs to get to Toronto. We didn't specify that one of our kids have a tree nut allergy as it was not an option at booking. The Chef (via the waitress) said they could not accommodate since they were not notified in advance and insisted we get the 5-course meal instead for the entire table. We specifically booked for the 8-course and didn't want to change that for one person in the group. Allowing one person to be on a 5 course meal and the other 3 to be on 8-course was not an option for the Chef. So we said just give everyone the 8 course but let us know which of the dishes have tree nuts and we just won't let our son eat those dishes and we'd all have what he is unable to eat. Nope, the Chef refused and said he will not allow that. Holy moly, this is like the movie, The Menu - you will eat everything I make and when I put it out or else?! Even though we were paying for the 8 course meals, with wine pairing and forced gratuity of 18%, this was their policy and how they treated customers? We've been to Michelin restaurants in New York, Vega, LA, Boston, Japan and Toronto before and we've never had an issue with any restaurant refusing service over whether or not someone can eat the entire meal? What if we didn't like one or some of the dishes and can't eat it or finish it? So we went around the corner to Planta and had a great meal, stress free and no issues. Will never return.

   Excellent complex tastes with ingredients from around the world. Deep savoury textures and unique plate design will keep me coming back but I did not enjoy the soy protein desert. It was hard and not enjoyable. Wish they did something more classic with the dessert like a v. chocolate cake or cheesecake. They were very accommodating for me as I asked for gluten free. I would still come back.

   The cuisine was elevated, creative, and uniquely inspired for our 5-course meal. Serena, our server, was knowledgeable, personable, and professional. Wine pairings were great. What a vegan fine dining gem!

   Who would have thought that Vegan cooking could be so flavourful and presented so beautifully. It's clear that the chef and staff take great pride in the food and service.

   Had a wonderful meal that was served very promptly and efficiently! Lots of great detail and information about what we were being served! The great flavors, uniqueness, and presentation of each dish was unique. We would definitely come back and highly recommend it! The dessert was divine?

   I recall exclaiming happily mid-meal that this is my favourite tasting menu in the entire city. I have visited a number of times and every time the menu is different. The service? Always top notch. I couldn’t fault this establishment on a single thing, truly.

   Always such an amazing immersive experience at Avelo. Highly recommend if you’re open to trying new food (especially if you’re vegan). The dishes are unique, delicious and beautifully plated. Highly recommend!

   The tasting dinner at Avelo was an outstanding experience. Each dish was a labor-intensive fusing of flavors. Service was faultless and the physical space is beautiful. We loved every minute.
