Avelina - Denver
Book your next event with us
Denver Restaurant Week, so limited selections. Staff did all they could to accommodate cow's milk allergies. Nice wine selection. Love the almond soap in restroom. Lovely meal--thank you!
Great brunch sport with good prices
We went during Denver Restaurant Week and the portion sizes were barely anything at all. We all left still hungry from not eating enough. When we originally chose this restaurant, the menu online showed 3 courses but when we arrived they have knocked it down to 2 courses, again with the smallest portion sizes.
Food was delicious and our server was fantastic
Good food and service. I was just disappointed where they seated us. I didn’t like too much this second room with very bad lighting and seats.
We had a wonderful Valentine’s Day dinner. The food, wine , and service was excellent. Great job!
My dinner was good, but my dates dinner was nothing spectacular. With the limited menu on Valentine’s Day, I was expecting more in the way of quality.
The staff was nice although our main waiter seemed distracted when taking our order and seemed agitated that my date did not like her dinner.
I don’t know if the bar was under staffed that evening, but when I ordered a drink before my main course arrived and I did not get it until my desert arrived, left me a little put off.
I would go back and sit at the bar for a happy hour, but I would not spend the money on another dinner.
We had a lovely Valentine’s Day meal and date at Avelina!
The experience was overall good, the bday set menu didn’t give much choice. The starters were great the main course lacked options for vegans or vegetarians, a poultry dish would have been a nice add. Desserts good, service and drinks god as well. Will come back again to try their full menu.
The food and service was best described as solid but the ambiance was lacking a bit. The lights were a tad too bright and the music was non existent until later in the evening (when the small crowd dissipated).
Really interesting menu. Octopus and tuna tartar small plates were amazing, as were the duck and scallops dinners. Service was impeccable. Be prepared for a pricy wine menu.
Such a wonderful birthday experience! Food flavors complex and well-coordinated, interesting and successful choices. We had the short-rib and the duck and both were way above expectations. Our server, Angie, was friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu. Joe the bartender made me the best martini I've ever had! Complementary birthday gelato was an added bonus! Loved it!
We arrived early on a Friday eve around 5:15. It was very quite. Had a nice meal of small plates. The lamb, Brussel sprouts, octopus, and mushrooms. All were good, however the Brussel sprouts had too many elements and the mushrooms seemed hastily sautéed and would have been better truly roasted. The lamb was good and octopus was good. The wait staff was exceptional but hard to judge when they were so slow. When we departed at 7 it was packed though. Will definitely try again!
Seldom do I eat somewhere where I want everything on the menu. Everything was delicious, created and well presented. The service was fast and the waitstaff friendly and helpful.
Avelina is a great spot in downtown. It seemed to us coast-dwellers that there was an inordinate amount of fish on the menu for a place 1500 miles from water so we stuck with the pork and chicken, both of which were very delicious. Good wine list and interesting drinks as well, definitely give it a shot!
My girlfriend and I booked a last minute reservation. When we arrived, the host was very accommodating and the ambiance was on point. Our meal was amazing - I will personally be back for the lamb and brussel sprouts. This has been the best experience for us in a long time and We will definitely be back in the next couple of months!
The food was mediocre at best. Service was horrible. We ordered 5 items from the small plates section and the server agreed to course them out for us, but all 5 items came out all at once on a table that was barely large enough for drinks and silverware. The server took away used silverware and never replaced it. The space and menu concept have a lot of potential but execution is lacking significantly. Way overpriced for what you actually get.
Dined here before . . . and certainly will again when next I visit Denver. My companion and I shared the appetizer of trout croquette. Very tasty. We both had the scallops. Both of us agreed that they were excellent. So was the chocolate cake dessert. And Gina was an outstanding server, friendly but professional.
This was a fantastic experience. Great food and amazing service. I would highly recommend this place to anyone!
We always enjoy eating at Avelina. Both the food and service are consistently good. We love to make a meal out of their appetizers/small plates. Favorites include the Burrata and the octopus.
Service and wine tasting was a fun evening enjoyed by all
Service and food are consistently excellent. This is our favorite restaurant in downtown Denver.
Great brunch spot near Union Station! The ricotta beignets were absolutely incredible!
We had a great meal and great service, highly recommended, will return!
Great service and food. Enjoyed our business lunch and was easy to carry on a conversation.
Always great service. A favorite place for business lunches.
Excellent creative entrees. Very good wines by the glass at fairly reasonable prices. Definitely will return.
Food and service is excellent. Seated by kitchen so not ideal.
it's rare that we dine out and everything we eat (apps, all 4 entrees) is excellent, but Avelina nailed it!
A very limited mid-day Saturday menu (brunch only).
The food was amazing as was the service. It is a pricier restaurant but worth it for special occasions.
First time at this restaurant. We we're looking for new eateries. We received excellent service, excellent food, served hot, great attendance from our waitress, but not overbearing. The value wonderful. My only constructive criticism would be your parking needs addressed. We'll be back.
Avelina was a last minute option for my boyfriend and I looking for a place on New Years Day- and we were pleasantly surprised! Avelina was very attentive to my allergens, and made me feel confident with the level of visible cleanliness in the kitchen. I appreciated seeing a productive kitchen flow, there was perfect communication between FOH and BOH. I personally got scallops that melted in my mouth and made me question reality. The scampi my boyfriend got was pretty terrible, I’ll admit- the noodles seemed undercooked and seasoned in a very odd manner which neither of us liked and we did not finish- but everyone has their likes and dislikes! Great drinks, pleasantly strong without being overwhelmed. Overall I would just recommend asking questions about the menu if you’re unsure- the waitstaff is well informed and happy to help. I enjoyed my visit!
The first thing that caught my attention was the knowledge and first class service from Max. That alone would have made this visit above average. It just so happens the food and ambiance were also exceptional. Will definitely return.
My steak was burnt, and they tried to cover it up with sauce. I ordered it medium. I had to send it back. They were nice, but the second steak was not tasty either. My friend said she liked her food.
There was a priz price menu due to New Year’s Eve so choices were limited. The crab first course was bland and the agnolotti was too salty. Otherwise, the food was interesting. The server was busy but not too busy to be properly attentive.
We had NYE dinner there. It was fabulous! The attention to detail for service and exceptional menu and wine pairings made it a really wonderful experience. Very very good! If you like fresh, local and highly flavorful food in a comfortable non pretentious environment- this is for you!
Jen did a wonderful job! She brought out a small free appetizer sample, free champagne (New Year’s Eve), and free chocolate cordials after dinner. Cocktails and food were very good, as you would expect. Beautiful venue - active but you can converse without raising your voice. Overall a superb experience!
This time was a business lunch visit and it could not have been any better in any way.
Great experience. Hostess was such a sweetheart. Thank you for allowing us to move to a different dining location. Rio was very attentive and personable. He gave the best intro of himself and today’s specials. I had the scallops and I can say they were absolutely delicious, perfectly seared. My husband had the Rohan duck. The almond mole was the perfect pairing. We met Karen, the owner. Very friendly and now I know who was floating around the dining area. :-) I love to see managers/owners present in the front of the house. My husband and I will return.
