The service is impeccable. The selection was and continues to be very good from veal piccatta , calamari, veal parmesean, Gnocchni (excellent) classic, and traditional cannolli. It is a classic dining atmosphere and we enjoyed it very much. Will return.
this restaurant is great. food is always tremendous no matter what you order. drinks are large and portions are too. we had a variety of different Italian dishes as well as fish and steak. have been here many times and never dissatisfied.
A long-time, old country Italian restaurant with a lovely decor. Very attentive, pleasant staff. Good menu with excellent pasta dishes. All four of us had different dishes - two types of Lasagna, a pasta with sausage and a beef shank. We were all very pleased with our selections. I would highly recommend Avanti's for any social or business occasion as it is a elegant, relative quiet restaurant where you can carry on a conversation.

Good service. Enjoyed my entree. Salad was ok.
Great prom night dinner. Our waiter was fantastic and very humorous making the night much more enjoyable. Food wasn’t really what we went for but it still exceeded our expectations. It wasn’t a busy night so I can’t speak from that experience but on a casual evening it was a delightful pre prom dinner.
Avanti catered an event for us in January, but we had never dined at the restaurant. They remembered us from the catered event and welcomed us like old friends. The food was awesome and will surely be back again soon.
Went to Avanti's for their Easter Buffet. Excellent choices. They also have a buffet for Mother's Day and Thanksgiving. All are best deal in town. Eat here on normal occasions as well. Have never been disappointed.
We've been going to Avanti's for 8 years now, always wonderful!!
This was our first time at Avanti - expectations were met and our server was incredible. He went above and beyond and made a point to give us an incredible experience. Thank you, we will return.
Our friends from Canada were greatly impressed with Avanti's and especially the food. We have always enjoyed Avanti's and take our friends there whenever the occasion arises. We live in Mexico, so we aren't here that often, but we will be coming back to Avanti's more often when we are in Phoenix.
Great food party of 6 everyone enjoyed the dinner and deserts every bite was full of flavor.
Great experience. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. My wife and I had an awesome date night. From the moment we walked in, the service was outstanding. The food and ambiance were right there with the service. Couldn’t ask for a better night.
Great as always, taking family their tonight in place of cooking family Sunday monthly dinner
Very nice restaurant with some great food. Great service and the feel of old school Italian
Great Setting, excellent service, super pasta, terrible salad (hard lettuce), a bit overpriced.
Very Slow - took 1.5 hours for entree to arrive. Didn’t have the wine selection. Cocktail was made wrong - also whiskey sour is generally not served in a wine glass. Ordered 1 antipasto, was charged for 3 - waiter eventually reduced it to 2. Colleague ordered lamb chops - was served a lamb shank - waited corrected the mistake. For a very very empty restaurant - the slow service with multiple mistakes was surprising.
The very best Italian restaurant in Phoenix! Pasta made fresh daily, service always attentive, with reasonable prices. The owner is usually on premises. Highly recommend.
This was my first time here. The food was incredible and the service was the best. We will be returning soon.
Restaurant needs a face lift. Seems like 1950’s lounge. Food and service were good.
Old School fabulous Italian Restaurant! Owner was present and friendly. Wait staff impeccable
Wonderful food and great service. One of our a favorite places to eat when in Phoenix!
Excellent experience. Food, service, and ambiance were great
Was really looking forward to this place but they were not prepared for a busy night on Valentine’s Day. We had a 7:30 reservation and were not seated until 8:45. The food was good and the owner did his best to make up for the ridiculous wait, but overall it wasn’t a very good experience. Hoping this was just an anomaly.
So my boyfriend and I decided to make reservations several weeks in advance so we could have dinner at Avanti for Valentines Day. We had never been there until that night and wanted to try something new. Now I understand holidays can be very busy, especially Valentine’s Day (huge date night) but we will never be returning to this place. I work in customer service and I am usually understanding however this was a bad experience. As soon as we parked (we had to park in the adjacent Filbertos parking lot because Avanti’s was full) we walked into a line of people waiting. We make are way to the front and there is no hostess. We stood there awkwardly for several minutes. Finally, who I presume to be the manager came and started taking down names from the couples waiting. We all told him that we made reservations and his response was that it would be a 30-45 minute wait because other people were running late because of the rain (as if this is my problem). So my boyfriend and I were forced to wait in a crowded bar area of the restaurant with other couples who had made reservations and were equally mad that they had to wait. What’s the point of making a reservation? We sat down to wait at 7:20 and didn’t get seated to a table until 8:15!!!! Our original reservation was for 7:30. Then to top it off, we could barely understand our waiter (thick accent) and when we finally got the garlic bread and our main entrees, they were simply okay. I probably could have made the dishes better myself and not paid an arm and leg for the meal. It was NOT worth the money. We eventually paid and left and agreed we would never be back. Maybe it’s better on days that aren’t holidays but they definitely lacked in customer service on Valentine’s Day and the food was not worth the price or the drive.
Valentines Day was way over booked and the owner kept saying it wasn’t his fault and blamed the rain. We didn’t even eat because it was well over an hour wait even with the reservations that I called and confirmed with him. He also did not have any of the reservations written anywhere just kept writing names down as people filed in. There were 30 people standing in the doorway not getting any help. We may go back on a random week day just to check it out but doubtful.
I was told to pick anyplace for Valentine's Day and Avanti's was my choice... we had never been here so today seemed like an appropriate date choice.
We spent 2 1/2 hours here... waiting. We were patient because we know it's a busy night...
And let me just say, the best part of our wait was watching the bartender who looked like she ate a bottle of valium before her shift, fumble around and try to make drinks. At one point she couldn't find her bottle opener so she borrowed the customers on his key chain to open his beer! Not to mention she answered her cell phone twice while the bar was 3 rows deep of people waiting to get a beverage.
Once seated, our waitress greeted us by saying 'I will never work another Valentine's day ever again, I don't care if they pay me 700 dollars!' I thought we were being pranked...
Once our food arrived, the filet mignon plate looked like it was from golden corral, it was SO over cooked! My boyfriend couldn't eat more than 2 bites of it.
I had chicken parm, but filled up on bread because we waited an hour over our reservation to be seated so I was starving, and figured I'd take leftovers to work... well after the gal slapped a piece of paper on the table (once again, classy) and tried to run away when we asked where our to go box was... it apparently was thrown out 'by accident.'
I can only say my first expirance here was not a good one so I don't think we will do it again.
After tip, $130 was spent on the weirdness restaurant expirance of my life... we would have had better service at Olive Garden and same quality food! Our evening was definitely a buzz kill for the romance we had planned, next year we will stick to Durants.
What a wonderful experience! Everything you hope for when dining out. Delicious, relaxed, friendly, intimate.
I highly recommend this restaurant. Great atmosphere, awesome service and the food was beyond amazing!! I will definitely be coming back. I would recommend for date night or special occasion.
We went for Valentines Day. I called the restaurant before making reservations to ensure it was the normal menu. I was told that it was a shorter version, but yes -- it's the normal menu. Then I had my wife call two days in advance to RE-ENSURE that there wasn't something exotic going on. And she was told the same. The day we went to the restaurant, we were called by Angelo at the restaurant (same person who I spoke to a number of days earlier) and he told me that while it's the same menu, the prices are different. Yes, they were indeed, and I had 90 minutes warning on that. He told me to ask for him at the restaurant when we checked in, and I did that, but he never came by. He had 90 minutes to do so, but we left without any adjustments or courtesies. It was a good filet as always, as was our salads, but they were jacked up in price which I had been trying to avoid. I certainly COULD have avoided that problem if I'd not gotten bad advice from Avanti in two earlier calls.
Fabulous. Valentines Day at primetime – 6:15 PM. Both the bar and the restaurant were jammed for. Kitchen was a wee bit slow, but food was hot, service was excellent, andwe had a fabulous time.
Avanti accepted a 10:00pm reservation. Upon arriving at 9:55pm we were turned away and told they were closed and the chef left an hour earlier. This really should not happen. It was very disappointing, not to mention quit inconvenient. We had to wait about 7 minutes in Avanti’s parking lot for our Uber driver to arrive to take us back to the hotel hungry and tired.
Wow great service my waiter was friendly attentive knowledgeable a real gentleman. My wife & I had a great date night, Thank You!
I’m an old man in a wheelchair and they made it very comfortable for me.
Our favorite italian restaurant in Phoenix. Great food, excellent service, old school ambience. Perfect for special occasions or anytime.
We go to Avanti 3-4 times a year. Every time we are there we are greeted by the owner. He is very friendly. There is not turn over of staff. We have had the same waiters for the last four years. The food is amazing!!
Delicious, old school, Italian food (with a couple of flaws) complimented by very good service and atmosphere. Started by splitting the crab stuffed shrimp served on a bit a spinach and napped with a cheese/brandy sauce. Two shrimp that were big enough to share, however the dish was a sea of white sauce on a white plate without even a sprig of parsley for a bit of contrast/color.
My guest thoroughly enjoyed her perfectly cooked Parmesan crusted salmon. She shared a bit and I can understand why. I had chicken Francese, which was flavorful though tough (overcooked?) complimented by a scant few capers and a single, quartered artichoke heart. Could have been very good...but wasn't.
Owner was great, food was good, basically had to get my own drinks from the bar.
Amazing piano player and delicious home made pasta!
The best gnocchi I have ever eaten! We were celebrating a birthday and they brought out a dessert with a candle on it. If you like Italian food, you won't be disappointed.
Great dining experience and owner was a lot of fun!
