Dinner was great and so was the service! They were very accommodating to our kids who are picky eaters. We all enjoyed ourselves quite a bit
It is a lovely place to have a meal. We were disappointed that there was no lunch buffet. The web site said there was a daily lunch buffet.
Excellent food and service. Everything we had at the Sunday Brunch was fresh and tasty.
It is a lovely venue and the service was fine. However the food is not as good as it used to be. No omelette station and the client has to make his or her own waffles, just like the Holiday Inn highway hotels, but not with the same prices! Hot foods, bison and pork was practically inedible they were so tough. If you have a high class restaurant, with prices to match, the food has to be impeccable. It used to be much better and I've been there a lot!
I would highly recommend this restaurant. The ambience is lovely & the service was excellent. Both my husband and I enjoyed our dinners. I'm plant-based and they had a separate vegan menu which was just so nice to have options, with really great options. Chef Jean-Philippe and his team provided excellent customer service and their food was wonderful. Thank you for a perfect evening!
We had a perfect brunch, food was plentifully and all so fresh. Staff was professional, friendly, helpful and kind. The building and restaurant could not have any more charm and character.
It is always a pleasure to return to this favourite venue. If you ever want a special experience, this is sure to please.
Very good service, amazing setting. The food is ok, in the sense that it's very traditional and not amazing value for money, but the setting makes it worthwile.
Love the vegan menu. Our waiter was lovely! He brought me a blanket so I could be cozy. Perfect night thanks.
Stayed at Château Montebello. Food choices are limited if you don’t eat red meat. Food was delicious but would recommend a vegetarian choice and more fresh/vegetable choices. Service was spotty for such a high end restaurant- had to ask for a Coke for my son multiple times...
Brunch with family
Hosting visitors from out of town.
I had not been in a few years, however I feel the quality of the buffet and the presentation was not what it used to be.
Everything about our lunch was fantastic! The food delicious, the service excellent and the ambiance was beautiful. Thanks for the great Memories.
Excellent time and delicious food. Two small critiques: there was not a lot of cutlery available for the brunch services which was weird and annoying. Also, as a tea drinker I must say I was very disappointed to discover that the tea pots were also used for coffee. The coffee is an overpowering flavour that drowns out the more delicate tea. This is easily remedied by dedicating a portion of tea pots (perhaps a different style?) solely to tea. As a first class hotel and dining experience with the prices to match, I would expect nothing less.
Service was very slow and they seemed to forget to give out table simple things such as steak knives in order to cut our food, and watching around the restaurant every other table got bread but ours. We felt neglected most of the evening. My dates flank steak was more salt then steak, but my lamb shank was good. Overall a very underwhelming experience.
Ambiance super et le menu est varié. Le rapas était succulent. Nous avons eu de bon conseil de notre serveur.
Je recommande a tout le monde.
Excellent.
The food was very good
The only issue was my wife's New York strip
There were a couple parts that were tough and stringy
Not enough to send it back and since our anniversary we didn't bring it up
Our server did check in with us and we said all was good
Just suggest keeping a close eye on meat quality in the future
The Sunday brunch is always amazing. You won’t be disappointed.
Unfortunately, the Sunday brunch is extremely overpriced and the quality of the food is mediocre.
It is hard to compare the ambiance produced by the shear size and character of this historic log structure to that of modern hotels.....plus, the Canadian Customer Service is second to none in any case. But here, remote from the bustling city, the décor, the space, the views, the accommodations, the staff....all just enhance the dining experience which we found truly outstanding.
Expensive, but great wine, spectacular food, and unsurpassed service.
.....we'll be going back soon.
Amazing place, amazing food, we were treated like royalty!
Expensive but great ambiance. for special occasion
So I have been going to Montebello since before it was a hotel. Private members only club back then. I will always love the ambiance there as it reminds me of when I was a kid going there with my grandparents. The issue I have now with Aux Chantignoles is that online they list the buffet as $46, but the bill came and it was $55. No one was prepared to do anything for me and I did not feel like arguing. $55 for a buffet is way too high. In spite of the best maple crepes in the world and really good lamb stew. Some high end buffet things, but not many. The plates are very small making it impossible to take much and the lineups are long so it takes a while. I was given two very tiny 1.5' x 1.5" square slices of roast beef. It was delicious, but again cheap on the serving. Also constantly they ran out of things on the table, mini sandwiches, creme caramel, eggs bene, crepes. So had to go back and get in line again. So if you are going to charge for that ambiance, for some upgrades on menu, then don't get cheap with servings. Treat people right and remember not only your history, but the brand you are representing - Fairmont. One of the world's best.
One of the things I look forward to at the Château Montebello. Good quality food and great variety. I recommend a swim prior to the brunch to get the appetite going ;)
I love the place unfortunately I reserved on the wrong time. I wanted the New Year brunch. The whole works. Service is fantastic you will see me again but at the correct time.
Happy New Year!
The place itself is great but I have seen better brunch in my life with a better variety of choices specially on Christmas day. For me it was a regular Sunday brunch. I have seen better in the past somewhere else and it was what I was expected at such well know place. Sorry but I will continue my search of, what I call, a nice Christmas, New Year, Easter Brunch. It wasn't as festive as my desire.
We went for Xmas brunch and celebrate a birthday
The hotel is absolutely unique and perfect setting to be in the spirit of Xmas. The restaurant is nice with the authentic rock walls and wood log ceiling. The service is absolutely perfect.
Food is a buffet ... not a big buffet, ham is very good, the desserts are very cute and a lot to choose from. The rest I was not impress with the food selection or presentation. Very pricy ... I would expected to at lest have the Parking included.. may Be I should have asked
Great experience of course
For a limited menu, the time from order to receipt of food was approx. 45 minutes. Find this unacceptable. After all this wait my pasta of the day was undercooked and dry(not enough sauce)
Food was amazing! The service was totally on point for a higher need restaurant. We were seated by the window where we could look out onto the lake, yet it wasn’t cold at all. All of the recommendations by our server were perfect. The bread is to die for and the steak cooked perfectly. Great night!
Food was amazing. Love the maple crepes. View was picturesque and atmosphere fairly quiet. Staff was on point and helpful as well as friendly. Fairly expensive but was worth the experience. Would have the Sunday brunch again
Great food in a relaxed atmosphere, would definitely go back.
Love coming here, have been for years. Very busy so service was a bit slow but otherwise outstanding as usual.
Restaurant du chaleureux Château Montebello. Un bon repas dans le restaurant avec vue sur la rivière des Outaouais. Service courtois et efficace. Pour les bourses bien garnies.
Wonderful service and ambiance. Some of the food was cold and did not find it very good value for money spent.
Very disappointed with the quality and selection of the buffet brunch, especially for the price! It felt like mass produced food, no personal touches (like an omlette or smoothies) Plus the buffet is not inclusive to different dietary restrictions (vegetarians and non pork eaters good luck!!)
The Sunday Brunch buffet was extremely diverse and had a huge selection of many different items. The service was great and the food was fantastic. We will be going back!
